Man, that was fun to watch. Thanks for posting that. I remember being so nervous before that game, and just being out of my mind watching it. -
1 pointYou don't think DeKeyser was a better UDFA signing? He 100% was. I'd even say Glendening was / is as good a signing as Lebda, and this coming from someone who regularly says that Glendening is replaceable. I'd even put Brunner in the conversation, even though he only played half a season... Lebda wasn't terrible. He was a serviceable 3rd pairing defenseman for a short stint here. And that's about all you can expect out of most UDFA's.

Also, then we'd have to protect him and expose another forward. -

You got my interested started so I did some reading. This article I found says his season will probably be an outlier based on his history and the deeper stats. He was riding an abnormally high shooting % (like Nyquist's 1st year). Also, apparently he was not on the 4th line as you say, but rather on the 3rd line with Karlsson and Calvert. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Paul-Berthelot/Losing-Josh-Anderson-to-Vegas-is-not-the-end-of-the-world/224/85097 If he's available cheap then, sure, he might be a good pickup. I like that he has size (6'3" 221) and they say he's gritty. Also, another RH shot never hurts. Maybe the BJs would just want to get something for him rather than just lose him to Vegas. But, even in that situation, since he's just had a breakout season, I doubt he's going to just be given away. He played on the London Knights for a year while AA was on the team, FWIW. -

Ok, call me confused. You've said bottom 6 like 6 times, plus comparing him to players who aren't even in the NHL yet (including Frk and Callahan who likely never will be). Sure as hell sounds like you you don't think he's any good. What I'm saying is he had borderline top-6 production as a rookie on the 4th line. Your pessimism seems odd, especially when you admit you don't know much about him. And how do we not have room anyway? Even if we don't trade anyone or lose a forward to Vegas, we only have 12 forwards counting Nosek. We aren't going to add two high-end top-6 players, nor do we have an abundance of good forward prospects. Players like Anderson are exactly the type we should be looking to add. Again, I don't know that he's necessarily the best option, and it would depend a lot on what we had to give up, but you shouldn't just dismiss the idea. -
1 pointIt would cost waaaay too much in my opinion. That trade would start with Larkin and our 9th overall pick, and we'd likely have to add a prospect like Saarijarvi as well. Not close to being worth it in my opinion. No need to move up in such a weak draft to a position where we would take who? Vilardi or Heiskanen? To hope that they pan out better than who we could potentially get at 9... Liljegren, Glass, Tippett, etc. I highly doubt Holland would do this, but please no. If we're moving this pick, it needs to be to move down, not up...

1 pointI think one of the key differences between Lids and Vladdy's game was that Lidstrom always made the safe play. He's not a risk taker, and hes make a career out of being reliable and always making the correct play. Vladdy was a bit more impulsive. As you can see above, Konstantinov is pinching at our blue line while shorthanded, without a whole lot of support behind him (lol). Not exactly something the coaches teach, but here we are, watching him go the other way with it.
-
1 pointNot sure where you got that from, but it's wrong. Lidstrom had 307 points from 91-97.

There is no "hint that he has an itch to return." He basically said if he DID go back to the NHL it would be Detroit or nothing. -

Agree with this. There was an article with TSN offseason's plan for us and they made a big deal about us needing veteran depth for the bottom and I did a facepalm. As it stands right now, there's only 1 spot up front prospects to make the team. Much rather try one of the guys you mention there or have a rotating call-up spots until someone claims it. -
1 pointThe one thing I don't think Lidstrom had the ability to do what Konstantinov could - was taking away the puck from opposition and giving himself a breakaway and finishing it off with a nifty goal.

2017 Stanley Cup Finals: Nashville Predators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
kliq reacted to DickieDunn for a post in a topic
Every fan of the team that loses cries about officiating. When the Wings were good and fans were crying about a supposed anto-Detroit conspiracy other fans were crying about a supposed pro-Detroit conspiracy. The reality is officials are human beings on the ice seeing the game at full speed trying to make calls on a crowded rink, and they're going to miss calls. I've reffed in a rec league. It's a hell of a lot harder than it looks. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
1 pointI guess the call was maybe 'good' in terms of the legal definition, but man did I dislike it. Had no bearing on the play whatsoever, he had the puck, it didn't lead immediately to a goal... I don't like it, 'right' or no.

Lidstrom has to be the answer to this thread. Lidstrom won a few Norris trophies he shouldn't have won also. It evens out. -

We don't need any more bottom 6 wingers. I doubt we trade Sheahan, but even if we lose him in the expansion draft, we shouldn't be relinquishing assets to add a bottom 6 guy. Either fill that spot internally (Bertuzzi / Nosek / Frk / Callahan) or sign a free agent. No thanks on Anderson. -
