Crosby was my choice this year, I thought he deserved it more than Malkin...Malkin only had 1 more point, but Crosby effectively played 2 less games and was by far the best player in the finals and did more than Malkin beyond points. Last year, it was close, I was surprised he won, but didn't mind it too much...Kessel could have easily won (same as Malkin this year), but Kessel is just way more one dimensional. Kind of like in 2002 when you could have argued a few Wings. Does anyone really care much about this though? Wings being the last to win 2 in a row? Doesn't mean much to me. I doubt anyone thinks about the Islanders holding on to the last team to win 4 in a row.

LOL. His talent is way below that of Lemieux or Bobby Orr. Based on your theory of evolution, Gustav Nyquist is more talented than any player in the NHL in the 50's. You have to judge players based on the era they play in, not based on time machine transformation. Actually, in Orr and Lemieux's case, they're more talented than Crosby, even disregarding the era. If those guys were physically transported to today's NHL from their primes, they would dominate. Yeah, they came close to losing on several occasions, which is what makes this disappointing. It's very similar to Chicago's last run in 2015, where I was rooting for them to lose and they eked out so many series. That's what happens when you root for underdogs, though. More often than not, they will lose.

Kessel should have won it last year and Malkin should have won it this year. Crosby bias for sure.

We heard the same thing with Gretzky as well. Big difference with Crosby is that he takes crap on the ice that Wayne never had to deal with....but that's just the times. Superstars don't get away with as much in the NHL as they do in the other leagues though.

I don't think a single person would disagree that superstars get away with things, but Crosby doesn't get away with more than any other superstars, like people like to suggest. Like SoaW mentioned, he also puts up with way more s*** than most players. I also agree that a lot of it is sour grapes and jealousy. We're starting to see and hear the same bulls*** with McDavid now. It's annoying as f***...

I think very highly of Matt Duchene. He is an extremely talented player whos been on a terrible Avs team. If hes traded to Carolina he instantly becomes their 1C. With NYI he instantly becomes one of the best 2Cs in the league. The cynicism is missplaced here dickie.
