    Michael Rasmussen

I was impressed by Rasmussen in training camp / preseason, but I'd still like to see a lot more out of him in junior. He should be dummying that league right now. He's not at all. I've become a huge Cholowski fan, but I'd like to see more out of him down there as well. We've been had / have defensemen that put up great numbers in juniors. Sproul was unreal in juniors 5 years ago at the same age, and Hronek put up similar numbers last year, a year younger. If all goes well, Cholowski should be in Grand Rapids next year, and Detroit the year after. Really hoping this kid develops into a top pair defenseman. We sure could use it... Also hoping Rasmussen develops into a number one center, but unfortunately, I don't see that happening...

He had 4 goals in 5 preseason games - most of any Red wing player or prospect. That is something to be positive about. He had a strong preseason - not just in 1 game. Hopefully his production in the WHL picks up even more as the season goes on. He was still dealing with rehab-ing the broken wrist at the beginning of the season. Side note: Cholowski is outscoring him. It's great to see his production. I was really impressed by him in camp and wondered why his game didn't translate to higher production with St. Cloud last year. Good to see a high scoring D man in the system.

@DickieDunn who would you rather have for net front presence than Abdelkader. That’s besides the point. The PP strategy Red Wings have includes net front. With that fact said, who would you place in front if net if not Abdelkader on that unit?

Yes, but when picking fruit in Munchkin land, you still need to use the guys that seem to be able to reach. For the PP, he's the netfront guy. And he's probably our most effective at that. Mantha can do that job as well, but we need 2 - one for each PP group. Only other real option we have of a guy that would be a good screen, tipper, and can stand his ground in netfront battles would be Ericcsson maybe? Don't think many would want to try that. Despite his height, he would probably be the smallest in Munchkin land.

Abdelkader was tied for the most PP goals on the team last year (5). This year he has 1 which is also tied for most on the team. He works as the net front presence. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/DET/2017.html

Scotty Bowman would grin at this post. The master line juggler. The problem is we suck. So as we suck Blashill gets anxiety and tries to juggle lines to try to win. If he just accepted the fact that we suck and won’t win games, maybe he wouldn’t be so prone to juggling the lines and just sticks with it, focusing on the long term like building chemistry between the younger players.

In a ideal-not perfect world we have a top 10 pick, a bottom 10 pick after trading Green, 2 2nds and 2 or more 3rds..... How would I draft? top 10 pick: Wilde 6-2/195 RH shooting Dman known for his booming shot and physical play. Bottom 10 pick: Matty Samuelsson 6-4/215 LH shooting Dman. Think a poor mans Hedman from TB. These 2 need to play every minute of every shift together for the next 20 years. They should become a legit top pair at the next level. In the second round now I go for a couple of F's. 2 guys I like are: Jachym Kondelik 6-6/220 LH shooting C. Think Martan Hanzel. Conner Roberts 6-4/215 RH shooting RW/C. In the 3rd I would go with: Alexis Gravel 6-2/210 G. Philippe Lapointe 6-0/195 RH shooting RW-Martys kid. Just because I like to be ahead. 2 guys for 2019: Tag Bertuzzi 6-2/200 LH shooting LW-Todds kid should be a 1st rounder. Mason Primeau 6-4/190 LH shooting C. late 1st/2nd rounder.
