I look forward to seeing what you do when we get 1st overall...

The real point I want to drive home here, the reason why I'm kind of pushing back against you, toby, isn't about "I'm right, you're wrong." I mean, I guess that's part of it, because that's how we roll on the interwebz. But, no, srsly -- the point is that we as Wings fans should be thrilled about the possibilities this draft presents, even if we don't pick in the top three. I really mean that, 100%. If we pick fifth overall, I'll be ecstatic. Third overall would be pinch-me-I'm-dreaming territory. Second overall? I will s*** my pants. But even 7-9 would be huge for this organization's rebuild effort. And having two picks in each of the first three rounds is also huge. Good things are coming our way. HYPE!

This is exactly what I was thinking. I hate all the losing, but I still enjoy watching in part due to seeing how the kids play/develop. I don't think playing 5 minutes is going to do much for Svechnikov, though I'm not too upset yet because it was only his 2nd game. I sure don't want to see Luke Witkowski playing more minutes than him for much longer though.

I would think anyone who wants to see the young players make strides. If you’re looking at this season in terms of wins and loses, I guess I see your point, but I look at this season as a year where hopefullly our youngsters take their games to the next level. I care more about a player like Svechnikov developing then a player like witkowski fighting.

I'm honestly dreading seeing anyone else besides us get Dahlin.

If OTT and DET finish in bottom 3, it might not guarantee the 1st, but with VEG's pick in late 20's, we'll have what could equate to FOUR 1st round picks! We could find some very useful talent with those 3 picks at the end of 1st. Of course this particular post probably should be in the other thread...sorry.

Like, I get where you're coming from...but this is looking like a relatively deep draft. That's just facts. Dahlin is arguably on McDavid's level in terms of hypability. There are a few forwards that I might put on Eichel's level. There's a ludicrous number of sexy defensemen, 5+ of which could easily be as good as, say, Ivan Provorov or Mikhail Sergachev. I haven't been this jazzed about a draft class in a pretty long while. Miro Heskainen went third overall last year. He doesn't sniff the top ten in this draft.

what This is widely -- if not near-universally -- considered a deep draft. Maybe you're thinking of last year's draft...?

    2018 draft , who's your 2 picks in 1stR

Why do you say this? Every single analyst I have read is calling this one of the deepest draft in years.

https://hokej.idnes.cz/matej-machovsky-ahl-echl-grand-rapids-petr-mrazek-fb7-/nhl.aspx?c=A180309_120958_nhl_elv Hereby quite honest "interesting interview" with current GR Machovsky.. Not even sure if you are interested in translation, but... ok, let´s try. - "I was told I´m not going to make AHL, while goalies there are well paid there. I didn´t really expect this is NHL organization but what could you do..." - "I was signing the contract with idea of fighting for AHL starter spot. Ok, I´ve said, I have nothing to lost. Then they signed another goalie. They probably felt pity of him that nobody want him or what." - Interview was done prior to Mrazek trade. "I will finish the season here. I don´t have intention to continue in US next yeat" - "Yes, AHL is sort of motivation for me. I believe I´m doing my best." - "I will stay if they will pay me. Otherwise I´m leaving, .. I believe I´m good enough to don´t play somewhere in some ECHL" ...funny part about his overseas experience. - If you ask some citizen here about the city, they will mention just where some fast foods are. Not really surprised about their obesity. You switch on the tv and you´ve got like nine minutes of fast food and coke commercials mostly within ten minutes . Or medicines or army. Kind of brainwashing online. Keep track with Kardashians etc., I don´t really get that..." - "Green brains. Got army all around the world and paying tribute for every single soldier guarding some beach somewhere." - But he´s also positive. "People are more friendly here. Better than in CZ. Really trying to help you." He does enjoy GR as very nice city with good cousine etc. - About his fight "I´ve been always dreaming about this. Pity that guy was just blocking me, probably understood that wouldn´t be good for him. "

    Dennis Cholowski

Not sure if anyone else has seen or posted this. Nice read on what the Portland Winterhawks GM thinks of Cholowski. http://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/sports/cholowski-s-stock-continues-to-rise-1.23195084 "Early in the year when I saw him play I thought he was a very mobile type of defenceman, jumps up ice, makes a good first pass, and I thought early in the year if we could ever get a player like that to help us out down the stretch that would be great and it turns out we were able to make that type of a deal," said Johnston. "But I didn't realize how good he was. He's a better player than I even though the was. He's very good defensively and I compare him to (Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman) Seth Jones, who we had several years ago. Seth never ran over you physically, but he was strong, he used his body well, he had a good stick defensively, and then when he got the puck his transition pass or skating was really good and I think Dennis is a lot like that. He's a better defensive player than I thought." "I think today's defencemen, especially when you think of Detroit or Chicago, those types of teams that transition, they want their defence to skate and move the puck. I really think Detroit is craving a guy like that now, that can play that type of style. He was well schooled here (in Prince George) and I don't know what happened at college, I don't think he got the opportunity and the playing time (last season at St. Cloud State), but certainly coming back to our league has been good for him. "We won't get him back next year, there's not a chance. We knew we would only have him for a short time but he's a pro in everything he does and the guys in the room will learn from him and then he'll move on."

What’s your assessment of Mrazek as a goalie? Average? Career backup? Too early to tell?

Guess Woo was "Jett-ed" from the first round. I think I was on to something. The only guy listed in the top 10 I am not crazy about is Wahlstrom. I would pick Kupari before him. Other than that, I can honestly say that I would be happy with any of those other guys listed in the top 10. Holland can't really mess it up this year.
