    Rumors Thread

Heard that Holland offered Athanasiou, 30th pick, 2019 2nd round pick to Edmonton for 10th pick. Chiarelli apparently has put it on ice.

Red Wings NOT opposed to bringing Marty Frk back So this article gives a better explanation of what is going with Frk. The team is not opposed to bringing him back, however the team is opposed to submitting a qualifying offer on him. If we qualify him it will cost us $715,000. Cheap right? But the catch with qualifying him at this price is that he then gains arbitration rights... which he will likely exercise... and an arbitrator will likely award more than $715,000. The Wings would rather risk negotiating with him as a UFA and losing him to another team, than trust an arbitrator with the contract. This is smart IMO. Seems Ken is playing closer to attention to keeping his players salaries under control. He would rather risk Frk walking than overpay him, which is good, Frk definitely ain't good enough to warrant any over-payment.

Until AA "gets it" he either continues to play lesser minutes or they trade his ass. And that's how it should be. So, assuming he doesn't get traded: Bert - Z - Nyquist Abdlekader- Larkin - Mantha Rasmussen - Nielsen - Vanek AA - Glendenning - Helm If I could be convinced that Svechnikov could produce at even 75% of Vanek's level, I'd have no problem with you're 3rd line (swapping the two) Something else we need to think about. Injuries. The ol' Griffins ain't what they used to be and if someone like Nyquist or Mantha or gets hurt and Svechnikov is already up, who gets the call? Smith the rookie? Signing Vanek = better depth.

You’re right I am happy with just the one pick. I don’t even really care who they take either. Sure I have my preferences but whoever they take has the potential to be an impact player for the organization. I wouldn’t call trading up unrealistic. There are plenty of assets that can be moved to jump up the draft board. In my opinion this is the time to be aggressive and take a chance to speed up the rebuild. Holland I’m sure has his game plan ready to go. I’m not going to be mad if he doesn’t end up moving up in the first round. Just saying that with the quality of talent in the top 10, even 15 , it might be worth taking a risk. Sorry if what I said annoyed you but I’m sure you’ll get over it. Or not. Don’t really care.

Well just be thankful that he's pulling this rumor from to cavernous depths of his own rectum. Posting s*** without a source used to be suspension worthy. And we know that Jonas knows alllllllll about what is and isn't suspension worthy. Right Jo maHo?

The more I think about it the more I really want Holland to try to get another pick in the top 10. If he can get any combo of the following I will be extremely happy with this draft. Zadina, Hughes, Bouchard, Dobson, Wahlstrom, Boqvist.

Uhhhhh. Samuelsson brought a little more to the Wings than Frk has. Scored some huge goals in the 07, 08, 09 playoffs. Look it up.

I really think Kenneth has something up his sleeve this year. Won't be mad if he doesn't make a big splash, I just get the slight feeling he's lacing up the steel toes for some epic tire kicking... He's got like 17 million in cap space right now. He's gotta sign Larkin, Mantha, AA, and Bertuzzi yet. He's gotta trade Ouellet yet. Does he trades Green's rights? Is he ready to part ways with Nyquist already? Tavares, Karlsson, Kovalchuck, Simmonds, and Panarin (I'm sure I'm forgetting someone) are all possibly on the market. He's got a stockpile of draft picks if he wants to make trades. The conditions seem right to me for a major shake up if he decides to go nuts

I think it's best to trade Svech while he still has "potential value." If he plays 82 with us and only gets 10 points, there's no trade value left.

Oh, totes. Veteran stopgaps are my aesthetic. Inject that s*** straight into my veins, fam.

Jesus Christ dude, let fans fan. Adding another top 10 pick is doable. And I'm with BinMucker and MileHigh, I'd be EXTREMELY happy if we were somehow able to pull that off. Sorry if that bothers you... Seriously though, I hope we stay at 6, and move up from 30. Even if we get into the top 15-20, I'd be EXTREMELY happy. One of the defensemen at 6 and Veleno or Bokk in that range would be great as well. I'd add Kotkaniemi as well, although I think he and Zadina will be gone before 6. This would be my dream scenario...

Totally agree this team needs a high-end talent infusion. Love the list and the thought...Bouchard and Wahlstrom for me.

*Sigh* It's the groundhog day of debates again Long term, Svechnikov is more important to the team than Vanek is for sure. But this team wants to win a few games and considering they lost more one goal games than anyone last year, and lost Tatar's 25, it's pretty clear that they need to add some scoring. Svechnikov hasn't shown he's there yet, and they ain't getting 25 + from Rasmussen. Also, enough with this "f*** Holland" stuff. It makes you sound like an irrational baby.

Absolutely, but Svechnikov > Vanek, and that's probably what it would come down to. If we sign a player like Vanek and send Svechnikov down, f*** Holland.

Vanek and his 24 goals > Frk, Booth, or Witkowski

That is a funny edit! I want to thank everyone for all the kind words! I am good, I am moving forward, I don't want to talk about it and I NEED this forum to keep my mind going forward! Thanks Again! Here is (are) my (fantasy) trade scenario(s) for draft day: Both Nyquist and AA address the offense and dynamics that Vancouver is in need of. Could very well become 1st line players there. Calgary is in DESPERATE need of another line. They have become a 1 line team, adding Helm and Svech gives them 2/3 making a very good line! To sweetin the deal the 2019 1s round is NOT lottery protected, so they get it no matter where we finish. But we get a #1 in Hamilton, so we're good. Here I take Chicago up on their desperation to get rid of Hossa's contract. I'd give them a couple of mid to later round picks to take his contract and their #8 overall. Worst case scenario, Hossa rides out his contract on LTIR much like Franzen. Best case scenario, he becomes healthy and gets us 15-20 goals a year for a couple of seasons. This eliminates the need to sign either one of Vanek or Kovy. Win-Wn for us and Chicago. (not that I am really into helping Chicago, but I'd piss down their back and call it rain to steal that #8 pick to get Oliver Wahlstrom.) Here is the good one. Sure, at first site, it doesn't look like a great deal for Montreal, but considering they are getting the #6 in return, two good old French Canadian kids to add to the team, PLUS they still should be able to draft the center they need in Kotkaniemi with that #6. So that gives us #3, #7, #8 in the 1st round. With those picks I take #3 - Zadina #7 - Best D Available #8 - Wahlstrom With Larkin as our #1 center, Z will slowly transition out as the #2 over the next couple of season's giving way to Ras. Nielsen will remain #3 for the rest of his contract unless he allows us to flip him to a contender on a future TDL day. I think, even with eliminating the 2019 1st round pick, that sets our rebuild on fire. (BTW, SO glad I was absent during all that political stuff in the other thread! I might be the only one left here when the MODS return!) Thanks again everyone for the kind words! I needed a break from life, but I need to move forward now and I had to get back on here to help keep my life moving on! Bring on Friday! Too bad I'll be working a 16 hour shift that day and will have to rely on my phone for updates! Here's to Holland ripping those tires right off the truck this year!
