Haven't checked up on the team stats in awhile. AA has 10 goals and 5 assists in 18 games??? Dig it!

These past two games were definitely measuring stick games, an opportunity to get a better sense of what this Wings team is really made of. What did we learn? IMO, we learned absolutely nothing that we didn't already know. The Wings can hang with really good teams, play them close, maybe even give them a scare -- but, more often that not, the Wings will come up short. We just don't have the horses right now, and it's gonna be at least another year before we do. So close, yet so far... The good news is we have some good young pieces and the "winning culture" still seems to be a thing. Just have to be patient and collect (draft) more pieces.

AA the only one to score in the shootout. It was a good effort against a strong, hot Buffalo team. Lot of shots both ways. OTL could be worse, it's a point.

Good thing they didn't trade him. I know it's still early in the season, but he's played 4 less games than Larkin and he's 4 points behind him, leads him by 2 goals. That's what happens when you don't give up on talent way too early when you have nothing but time.

Average teams like Buffalo know that's the meal ticket vs Red Wings. It's soooo unoriginal. I miss the days when Detroit was so good that a meh team like this Sabres one would be too busy sharting themselves to forecheck.

One thing I've noticed is that the team is doing a GREAT job of keeping guys on the outside. Remember 8 years ago when we were getting 50 crappy shots a game and only scoring 2 goals? Samuelsson with 15 sog every night from 45 feet away in the goalies chest? Well, seems like we've been on the other side of that coin recently.

I haven't been saying much about Howard or the goaltending in general, mainly because I kinda don't want to jinx things...but it really needs to be said: Howard and Bernier have both been outstanding for us over the past ten games or so. IMO, goaltending's the biggest reason why the team's had a great November. Is this level of goaltending sustainable? Probably not. But this is a good lesson in how valuable solid goaltending can be.

Sure. He has been better, but still not worthy of that spot on the top line in my opinion. I was okay with Helm up there because he's actually a good forechecker and can create chances. Abdelkader shouldn't be anywhere near the top six in my opinion. He should be a staple on Glendening's wing on the 4th line. I would much rather see any of Nyquist, Vanek, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Rasmussen on that top line with Larkin and Mantha.
