Veleno with another huge game tonight. 2 goals, 3 assists, 10 shots on goal in a 6-3, come from behind win. He's closing in on that 2 points per game pace, with 51 points (22 goals, 29 assists) in 27 games, 1.89 PTS/G. He's now 4 points behind the league lead, with 3 less games played. Kid is an absolute beast. Looking forward to see him turn pro next season (hopefully with the Red Wings).

I'd also like to to add; Being incredibly hot in juniors doesn't suddenly mean you're ready to tear up the pro level. Obviously I'm thrilled and extremely optimistic at this point regarding Joe Veleno, but I'd like to see him continue this dominance for the rest of the season. Get that confidence to an all time high and come into training camp next year looking to impress. Bolded.

Giving him the start in Toronto made sense; Howard sucked against Tampa, Bernier once played for the Leafs. I'm assuming Bernier gets the start tonight because his career numbers against the Isles are better than Howard's, but I haven't actually looked at those numbers, so I dunno. I'd be surprised if this is because Howard's getting moved. Anything's possibly tho.

He can't be brought up mid season. We've been over this... He will continue to torch the Q this season, and turn pro next season.

How can we be buyers? We don't have cap space room and can only offer young prospects in exchange for established players. That would be a mistake. I'm not one of these posters who'd rather see them tank and get a high pick. I want them to try to win every game with this roster. However, I wouldn't trade any of the best prospects in order to pursue a playoff push that likely ends in a first round loss. Ride it out with the current prospects and try to dump players that are older and eating up too much cap space (Abdelkader, Nyquist, Ericsson, Nielsen, etc).

If we're outside looking waaaaay in come the trade deadline, sell everything you can. Howard, Nyquist, Daley, Leftwinger's uncle's cousin who stocks the wife's hospitality suite with Nespresso capsules, etc. If this team continues to play well and is in the playoff hunt I think you have to stand pat and give them a chance to play for something. So far, being semi-competitive has done wonders for the development of the youngsters.

Buyers or Sellers? Sellers. No question. I am a little nervous though that if we do climb into a playoff spot in the next two months, or even within striking distance, that Holland would turn from seller to buyer. I cannot bring myself to cheer on losses, but I know too much winning could potentially set this team back. We need to sell off any and all UFA's that team's might have interest in, no matter where we sit leading up to the deadline. Hopefully both Nyquist and Howard are dealt and maybe even Daley if any teams are interested.

3 of those guys are in the HHOF. Hmmmm. I thought it was colonel of truth?
