You can speculate all day that Johnny Toes is gonna waive his NMC and demand a trade to the Red Wings this off season because he grew up an Yzerman fan and wants to play for his hero. That's anyone's right. And it's my right to call that speculation dumb. I'm not arguing for a theory that he'll stay in Winnipeg. I'm arguing that there's absolutely nothing to suggest Johnny Toes wants to come to Detroit, and likewise nothing to suggest Jacob Trouba wants to come to Detroit. I guess I am alone in thinking this, because despite no real indicators, many others appear to be not only convinced he's getting moved, he's also moving to Detroit, and for cut-rate cost. Book it. I don't find anything you're saying here unreasonable. I didn't find anything unreasonable about your previous post in this thread either, which is probably why I neglected to respond to it. Thank you. I recognized previous negotiation troubles and the fact that he hasn't committed long-term in my last post about Trouba in response to KR. This is really the sole reason one should speculate about Trouba leaving. Is it because he hates playing there and wants gone, or was he just a young player with serious disagreements about his value, like Athanasiou or Nylander etc... This season he finally truly flourished becoming a top 5 point getter on the team, equaling Laine in points, and playing good D the entire way. If I'm Chevy my first priority is keeping Laine, Connor, and Trouba on the team... the rest can get f***ed for all I care. I disagree with you a bit about how tight their cap is. If they can get Trouba in at 7, Connor and Laine in at 6, that leaves them with 6 million remaining with 9 roster forwards and 6 roster Dmen. Adding ELC players, cheap fighters/projects, should keep them under the cap, albeit tight. At the end of the day I don't think Trouba leaving is that wild of an idea. But being convinced he's coming to Detroit and for cheap just because Winnipeg has a tight cap is wild to me. Will be thrilled if Yzerman can pull it off though.

How about we let Dennis turn 14 first

I don't really have much interest in signing any UFA's, unless they're one-year stop-gaps. I guess if we were to sign one, I'd be okay with a Riley Barber type signing on a two-way contract for depth. Zero. If we're going to offer sheet a player (I don't think we will), Kapanen would be the only player that I'd have any interest in.

I'm just happy they're already hemorrhaging multiple good young players. Chicago already had their first cup when that started for them.

The only way I trade that 6th pick is if it's on draft day, and it's only a few spots back, and the board is favorable. We still do not have elite center depth. We can get it this year with one of Turcotte, Zegras, Cozens, or Dach. Our prospect pool on defense is really good already. We also made shrewd moves with Bowey and Kaski. Between those two, Hronek, Cholowski, McIsaac, Lindstrom, Regula, and Barton we've got some really good young defensemen in our system. As also have as good as shot as anyone to sign Trouba if he hits UFA (the dude wears Detroit hats in post game pressers FFS). You don't trade your best possible shot at creating dangerous center depth given all that.

That's actually not a counter point but thanks for restating what I said.... I'd rather bury Daley/Erricsson and have an up and coming player in that roster spot... Assuming Cholo or some signee is deemed ready for primetime I hope the fact we have Daley and Ericsson at 3-4 million doesn't block those guys. Since that cap hit needs to be endured either way it should come at the cost of a year or a good young players career just to make a fringe vet feel good about finishing out in the NHL.

Jokes aside, I'm excited for this project player more than any others of recent past (Sulak, Machovsky, Rybar) he's basically a forward who plays D. Not gonna stop too many goals, but his bombs are heavy and his dangles are greasy. Likes to carry the puck out of his own zone too.

    2019 Draft

Zegras is lazy and he sucks. Needs more cowbell. Broberg clappin' bombs out here and playin' 5-on-5. I don't see Zegras skatin'. Where is my 5-on-5, damn it.

    Signed: Finnish Defenseman Oliwer Kaski

I wouldn't say anyone necessarily "over values right shot defensemen". Some people just value balance more than others. With Green, Bowey and Hronek on the team, and Lindstrom on the way, I don't think right shot defensemen are as big of a need as it has been in the past. Kaski is a welcomed addition, but I don't care so much about handedness on the back end right now, as it's already fairly balanced. For me (and others), the bigger need is right shot forwards. Not having a single high end right shot forward on the team or in the entire system is a problem. Either way, good signing, when it eventually happens. Reportedly going to be a one year contract, which I was kind of surprised about. My expectations are low, but if he can become a player, great for us.
