I could've phrased that better. My bad. I'm assuming Yzerman is going to bring in some top-four(ish) help from outside the organization and err on the side of caution re: Seider's development -- i.e. keep Seider on the farm for at least the first couple months of the season. Note that this is simply where I'm setting my expectations; it's not necessarily how I think things will play out.

All that does is accelerate our path to forever .500, in the absence of "luck" in the lottery we need to double down and strip this thing down to the studs. Adding UFAs makes us a bit better in the short term and worse in the medium/long term. Yzerman preached patience and with our "luck" in (rigged) drafts we need as many picks as we can get. Ideally over the next 3 seasons we should trade or otherwise let go of all but a small handful of our current full timer roster (3 or 4 guys)

I'd say they're more like $4.5-5.5M, and I wouldn't sign either, unless it's with the plan to flip them for assets at the deadline. McIsaac isn't making the team out of camp next season. I'd say he's at least one full season away. With an extra long off-season, I expect DeKeyser to be fully healthy, and finally play close to a full season again. No to Krug. This would be a terrible trade. People are turning on Cholowski way too quickly. He hasn't been great, but he's still only 22 years old, and has shown great offensive upside in both Grand Rapids and Detroit. If he can figure out the defensive end, he could be a reliable top four defenseman. Worst case scenario, he's a better version of Brendan Smith, and we held onto him until he was 28, and still got a 2nd and 3rd round pick for him. Trading Cholowski now for a 2nd OR 3rd round pick would be terrible asset management.
