I finally got around to watching this... If you haven't watched, you haven't missed much... They did a mock draft and they all had the top three going Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle except Trev. He had Byfield dropping to Detroit. Ken Kal had the Wings taking Rossi, Art had the Wings taking Holtz, and Ken Daniels had the Wings taking Drysdale. I was surprised that there was no real conversation about Raymond (who may challenge for 3rd overall) or Perfetti (who has been heavily linked to Detroit)...

That Markstrom will probably put up lower numbers at ages 30-33 than Howard did at the same age. And yet some fans seem to think that paying Markstrom $6 million x 4 years is good. It's not. It's an overpayment. A bad contract is never a good idea just because it's not Jimmy.

If Staal were bought out by the Rangers or Red Wings before next season, he would absolutely get signed by some NHL general manager. For that same reason, some NHL general manager will trade for him at next year's trade deadline. Marc it!

No s***. But these guys, like Staal, are still going to play. So if you want the assets, you have to be prepared to watch these guys actually play on this team's roster. There aren't many Datsyuk contracts out there.

For the millionth time, I'm not bothered by the trade. I'm bothered that he intends to play Staal, specifically to tank, and is trying to paint a silver lining by talking about veteran leadership and culture and blah blah blah. I have ZERO issue with using the cap space to get future assets. I have a big problem with a defense made up of Dekeyser, Nemeth, Staal, and not Cholowski or Lindstrom.

You realize that when Mackel says Zadina is a "bust" it's just to rile you up right? At the risk of exposing Mackel's world class trolling here a bit, I feel like you should know. Matter of fact, he'll probably deny that's he's trolling you after he reads this, specifically so he can troll you more. My guess is that his true feelings about Zadina are something along the lines of "He's not as good a player as I thought we were getting when we drafted him". But the minute he throws that "bust" hook out there you gobble it up.

Draft Perfetti, sign Krug, sign Markstrom. U explode.

You can dismiss it all you want, that's fine. But I do think there's merit to it. I don't think Zadina sucks (though it's pretty fun to get everybody all riled up), but he's not as good as he was constantly made out to be and that might be why people are disappointed in his development thus far.

Jesus. We all know about your disdain for prospect hype by the media. But that's not really an explanation or excuse for this Zadina dumbfukery.

So you think it's reasonable to look at Zadina, and think Svechnikov or bust? That's the worst rationale I've heard yet... So if Svechnikov is a 90-100 point winger, and Zadina, picked 4 spots after him, is only a 70-80 point winger, it's reasonable to consider him a bust? The issue I have with mackel calling Zadina a bust, is that he was calling him a bust since the day we drafted him. Based on absolutely nothing. And he's too proud to admit he was wrong, so he's going to continue to run this into the ground. Zadina will be a legitimate top six winger, and that's not a bust at 6th overall, no matter how you want to spin it.

I don't hate the trade or anything, but I always love these stories about how good a person some player is, but they deliberately downplay how bad they suck as a player. Regardless of how good this dude is supposed to be in the locker room, he sucks. He's WAY past his usefulness. I'm happy with the 2nd rounder, but let's not kid ourselves, he's not any better than an Ericsson or a Daley. Filppula/Nemeth = Gagner/Staal. It's the same thing. Just plugging holes while obviously tanking. Pretty sure the "culture" of the team was not worse off in the hands of Filppula, Helm, Abby, Ericsson, and Daley (who have all won Cups) and Green, Nemeth, Dekeyer (who are all quality veterans) than it will be in the hands of Staal and Gagner, guys who have collectively won jack s*** in the NHL.

Makel actually looks at Zadina's numbers. Thinks. Ah. I got it! Injuries!!! THAT's why he's a bust now. It was injuries all along.

LOL you're the one that inserted your dumb comment about how you won't be watching because of the Perfetti coverage they will shove down our throats... and will instead watch football... I don't give a s*** if you watch or not. Just suggesting that you have more of an open mind. You should try it... I also never said anything about Yzerman always being right, but I guarantee he knows more about every single one of the players in the top 10, than all of us jackasses combined. But yeah, Perfetti and Rossi will definitely be draft busts because nyquististhefuture said so... Almost as ridiculous as mackel calling Zadina a bust in every thread, despite everything pointing the opposite direction... Now that's a better analogy.

I really hope Yzerman stays out of this... Unless Krug wants to take a major home town discount (I doubt it), no thanks...

Well, good job Yzerman didn't do this with Kucherov after his first season. 9G/9A in 53 games as a 20 year old. (Zadina had 8G/7A in 28 games by the way)
