    Jordin Tootoo & Polar Bears

Did not say this earlier because this looks like the op is just bitter about Nashville beating us. But since it has made it to page two, 25,000 polar bears vs 50,000 Inuits If only the "civilized" world had sanctions in place to protect the people who lived here before we came and took their lands. Seriously, the only reason our country is in a place where they can look down on people because of what they eat, is because they had no morals or conscience when it came to slaughtering and enslaving people they perceived as inferior. Try to remember that these are human beings like you and I and that their society has been around for over a thousand years, they have always been an arctic, maritime people. Polar bear meat is one of the reasons they survived to today and I don't think anyone has the right to tell them they are wrong for it, they did not overfarm bears in 1000 years and polar bears did not get to their endangered status from natives, but from the same expansion that endangered the natives.

I think we're going to lose it anyway. Might as well get something in return for it.

The owners will opt for a lockout the next time they get the chance, regardless of who's Commissioner. Just saying.

Please oh please can the lockout end so that we can get back to hockey so that I don't have to hear about Jordin Tootoo's bear hunting desires?

KHL is not as good as the NHL, but is ways better than AHL or any other league. And a salary that's 60% of NHL is actually a net after taxes. If you take into account all the federal ,state, and local taxes that the NHL players pay, the salaries are actually about equal. And they can play at home and will have no problem getting permission to play at the Worlds and the Olympics.

So...you're offended by someone else's heritage, which was publicly displayed on a feed you chose to follow, so in turn you throw every insult you can his way and then go and post the same exact picture which you were offended by on another public forum?

I've had about enough of all this lockout talk. As best as I can tell given that I don't speak Swiss, Damien Brunner is tearing it up in the Swiss League. 5 goals and 7 assists in 9 games. Additionally he's got nearly twice as many shots on goal as the Omark (who leads the team in points, though with two more games than Brunner). Absolutely can't wait until Hank gets over there and suits up with him, I'm dying to see what Brunner's shot can do with Z creating space for him. His release is quick and should be very effective in the NHL, and his finishing ability seems (admittedly based on not much) to be better than Hudler's. Here's hoping all that success isn't do to shoddy Swiss defense. I've got high hopes for this guy!

Z basically says Bettman should be fired

They're wrong because the solution to a problem they created shouldn't be to force someone else to solve it for them. They sure as hell shouldn't be looking to that solution for the second time in eight years. It's time for the owners to look at trying something other than taking money away from players. The problem isn't how much is being spent on players, it's mostly who's spending it. Owner's need to take responsibility for their poor decisions. Also, either there's not enough revenue sharing, or the payroll range is too narrow. The owners need to address one or the other. The top owners will likely lose around $300M if we lose the whole season. If instead they were to take half of that to help the teams that are struggling, we could get through this season. Then the next season, between the combination of revenue growth and lower salary commitments on existing contracts the player's share is lowered without requiring a rollback or escrow. Do that for a few years, and the share eventually gets down to a number the owners are more comfortable with. Combine that with increased revenue sharing or a wider range, and telling dumb owners there will be no more bailouts, and maybe we'll get the right teams spending the money and we won't need another lockout for the next CBA. But what the owners want is to beat down the players again, the top teams will lose their $300M, the other teams will still lose just as much or more than they would playing the season, the fans lose, the league loses future revenue, and even if the owners get what they want the same thing is likely to happen again in the future, because it reinforces the owner's mentality that they can correct any stupidity on their part by taking back from the players.

So you basically admit that this topic is irrelevant? Insomuch as it's based entirely on your prejudice against a man that you simply don't like? You'd give Z the benefit of the doubt for much the same offense because he's not, as you put it, a POS... a man fiercely proud of his heritage which is slowly dying out, who is employed to play a role and has the added baggage of the hassle that comes with it, namely people saying he's a POS when they don't know him. I say let him play and then criticise dude. Yeah, we really need to get playing again... getting way too political on here these days

You don't have a leg to stand on in the animal rights department if you're thinking of getting a burger for lunch - unless by 'getting a burger' you mean buying some organic naturally raised beef and making your own patty. Go read and get informed about intensive farming. These animals are enduring a life of misery, while those polar bears are living with freedom in their natural habitat. Hunting game is much more humane than 'getting a burger'.

Cory Emmerton: 71 GP-10 points Darren Helm: 68 GP-26 points Drew Miller: 80 GP- 25 points Jordin Tootoo: 77 GP- 30 points Comparing Tootoo to Emmerton is laughable on so many levels. I know some fans think fighting and physical play is yucky, but it is hockey, as a matter of fact. Its about time we got someone with a pair between their legs. Tootoo won't be benched; he wouldn't have got the contract he did if he was just gonna sit. "Hacks" like Emmerton will be traded to make room for him.

Seriously? Emmerton territory? Emmerton: Brings speed and 10 pts Tootoo: Brings fighting, agitation, energy, hitting, and 30 pts Tootoo brings way more assets to the ice and tripled Emmertons scoring last year...and Emmerton plays for a high scoring team while Toots played for a defensive team with a terrible forward core. While I think 2 mil is a little high (would have prefered 1.5) I'm still happy to have Tootoo. A bunch of frowards (like Emmerton) will be traded to make room for Toots once the season starts, it's obvious. Love how you brought up this irrelevant Polar Bear thing as an excuse to whine about Tootoo and his contract. I think the lockout is driving everyone a bit nuts

You're right. I missed that part. I guess my eyes wander when I read the same quotes in every article about the lockout.

Z basically says Bettman should be fired

Devallano was trying to portray Bettman and the owners as good and right for locking out the players (and fans) and he is wrong. Players portray Bettman and the owners as being bad and wrong for locking out the players (and fans) and they are right

Z should be in politics, "I know for a fact the Russians will probably stay." esteef

I disagree. I think they have TONS of marketable players, but they just chose the obvious ones. Think if Biznasty was marketed like OV. I think he has a better personality. I don't know why Russians come off as so selfish to me and seem egotistical.
