Nev, I saw that commercial. It just further proves my point. Babs and Kenny read LGW and they hate us. If that commercial isn't trolling, then I don't know what is.

I agree we will miss him. But people you need to realize, we wanted him back! We offered 2 and 3 year deals, which he turned down, we didn't pick alfie over him, he decided to leave, we had to do what was necessary in the FA market. Also, I wouldn't say he scored an EPIC goal, it was a nice shot, but not anything to go insane over. Also it was on Labarbera, may as well have scored it on Rick DiPietro

Not if that young talent wants to land a roster spot on this team...

Haha, what are you talking about? The Wings team has been populated by such monumental bad*sses as Brad May, Dallas Drake, and Aaron Downey. And as you well know, those men are collectively responsible for keeping Dats, Z, and Lidstrom safe during those years. Nowadays, Tootoo, Ericsson, and Bertuzzi can't hold and candle to those great gladiators of the past.

Fighting has been practically extinct from the Wings' game for years. I wonder how many people on these forums find watching them similar to figure skating.

Oh, knock it off with the useless hyperbole, would you? If fighting ever disappeared from the game entirely, hockey would not look like figure skating, not even close. The only thing the two activities have in common is they take place on skates. That's it.

Like I have said before I wish him well, he doesn't owe the DetroitRedWings anything nor do they. That being said I was one of the few people who wanted him back, his scoring-touch would have helped this team out.

I heard he banged one in with his nose. esteef

I disagree. In my opinion, Cleary was playing like garbage at a time where he was featured on the top 2 lines (albeit while individuals were injured), and Babcock let him rot there. Could have called someone up, but, nahhhhh

I know it's a long shot for him to become relevant to the organization, but Hampus(or Hampy, Hamper, etc.) cannot be ignored!

Don't name it after a Red Wing, name it after someone especially deserving here on LGW. Then we can all compete for your favor by "liking" all your posts. Person with the most "likes" wins the prize.

The Red Wings robbed Bobby Lang of an Art Ross trophy that year. I'll never forgive this organization for that.

He had to make room for the useless $3 mil/year 4th line plug that contributes more when injured then healthy...

even more relevant if he you know added context. Cleary 2 goals were literally bounced off of his body by Datsyuk, and 1 was an empty netter, then what 6 secondary assists..... Unless of course points tell the whole story I guess St. James is saying Cleary>Datsyuk, because you know points mean everything. How about the 40x Cleary just losses the puck on the boards, or falls and gives the puck up? please someone sign into twitter and call this person a ****

I think there' s an awful lot of hyperbole necessary to claim fightless hockey would be dancing on ice.

So....did Cleary just take Tatar's spot?

For that season, Lang was an excellent acquisition. He did well in the regular season and led the team in playoff scoring. He did quite well in 2005-2006 before deciding he didn't really care anymore. Believe it or not, I have neither desire nor need to fool people, nor indeed would the particular gambit you've accused me have had any chance of success. It's known fairly well whom Fleischmann was traded for. Thanks, though; it's always nice to be called dishonest. I was not around on this forum when Lang was traded for. I was, however, around in 2007, and I can assure you that very few people were unhappy about the Bertuzzi trade and quite a few were happy about it. He had scored 71 points in the season before; though he was a gamble given his back surgery, he had the potential to be a very potent acquisition, and Holland effectively got him for peanuts. Matthias was ranked by RWC---a good judge of such things---as the Wings' 13th-ranked prospect. That said, I agree with the gist of what you're saying: that people should not get so up in arms before the season has even begun.

If Cleary starts on the third line I would argue then he is in fact occupying a roster spot that Tatar should be in. If Cleary were a fourth liner and shuffled in low scoring affairs to replace Abdelkader on the top line, meh, I could live with it. But if hes on Andersson's wing over Tatar, that's where I start having a huge problem.

Great attitude. Red Wing class personified. Meanwhile, somewhere, Sammy's getting a boob massage, eating quail eggs, and listening to Robin Thicke.

I know what those shiney things on the shoulders of the USA and Canada jerseys are going to do when they turn out the lights, they're going to glow right? Right?......Right?
