Matt 1,049 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 @HeleneStJames https://twitter.com/...464998429687809 #RedWings have inquired about Rick Nash, but CBJ doesn't want to trade him to Detroit. Wings would have to blow Blue Jackets out of water. _____ For what it's worth. Holland isn't shy about making the rounds. Due diligence or more?

Greatness=PavelDatsyuk 65 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Unless we could get Tampa or some other team to help us out again I don't see this happening. We would have to give up way more then hes worth. 2 roboturner and Hey man nice shot! reacted to this
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 7.8 cap hit for rick nash + losing jarnkrok, smith, filppula and a 1st .... NO THANKSSSSS Yeah, he's grossly overpaid for his production. It's pretty comical that Crosby only gets paid 900k more than a guy who hasn't potted 80pts even once in is NHL career. 1 IILeiBlazeII reacted to this

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 As much as I would love seeing him in Red White Howson can keep his dreams, one of the dumbest GMs ever. 1 Wingzman91 reacted to this
YougotDatsyuked 24 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 I would think Ryan, or even Kovy would be more reasonable. I have a feeling most of these teams want flip.
Carman 387 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 I'd love Rick Nash, but definitely not for what Columbus would want. Then again Howson has made horrible deals in the past, so who knows.

Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 i wonder if this isnt just a ploy by Holland to send a message to free agents that Detroit is going to do what it takes to improve our team. hinda like pitt did with the Crosby signing.
ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Howson thinks he's trading Gretzky with what he's been asking for evidently. If he were to trade Nash to the Wings, that price would go up to the equivalent of some weird Gretzky/Howe/Orr love child. No thanks...
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 You don't think the team he plays for has something to do with that. agreed ,rick nash has NEVER had anyone to play with and he popped in a ton of goals for such an awful team, theres no doubt in my mind if he went to detroit or somewhere like ottawa to play with spezza and karlsson he can get 40-50 goals .... hes been in an awful position for such a long time that being said i dont wanna give up all those assets for one single player

kylee 727 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 no way he comes here. Holland doesn't blow anyone out of the water. He's my favorite non Red Wing but being in the same division just would be too much for Howson to accept and trade the face of their franchise to a division rival. 1 LidsFan reacted to this
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted June 29, 2012 You don't think the team he plays for has something to do with that. Nope. Sorry. If you want to get big boy money you should have to have big boy production. Look at the numbers Crosby, Ovechkin, Heatly, Hossa and Kovy put up on worse teams than the BJs in their past. The year Nash produces like a top 10 forward is the year he deserves to be paid like one (so yes, that one year he was a coleader in goals scored he would have earned this contract but now he's getting paid Crosby money to produce like Franzen). Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted June 29, 2012 I wouldn't like getting Nash for 7.8, but I'm happy that Kenny isn't afraid to spend that much.

He's my favorite non Red Wing but being in the same division just would be too much for Howson to accept and trade the face of their franchise to a division rival. Too bad realignment couldn't have helped out with that. Its good to see Holland being aggressive though. Asking about Nash leads me to believe he's looking to shake things up or make some serious upgrades to this team. Bringing in Nash, to me, would be like when we brought in Brendan Shanahan. He was a great goal scorer, in his prime and desperately wanted to play for a contender. I like to think it would have a similar effect on this team. 2 roboturner and LidsFan reacted to this
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 29, 2012 I have to wonder if Holland is very serious about Nash or if he's just letting it be known to other big free agents on the market he's shopping around and not just zeroing in on Parise, Semin, etc.

Richdg 267 Report post Posted June 29, 2012 Nash is a question to me. yes he is big young and scores goals. But there have been more than one person question his will to use his size and he seems to think D is optional most nights. Maybe it is a product of being on a bad team. Or maybe that is who he really is. Do I think we can get him? Nope. Being in the same division we would have to pay the most. We simply don't have the parts to move for this big of a deal.
