Namingway 146 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 Tried looking him up and saw a bunch of pics of some oiled up body builder. For a second I thought "good, we could use some more muscle on the Wings" 4 Rivalred, kipwinger, wings87 and 1 other reacted to this

TripleS 46 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 whoopee-dee-doo....same old Ken Holland... Ok so based on what? Name me a few others .... Also, who wouldn't sign a free agent prospect that our scouts are high on?
LeftWinger 4,973 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 Ok so based on what? Name me a few others .... Also, who wouldn't sign a free agent prospect that our scouts are high on? Really? Ok, Leino, Brunner, Brunnstrom...does that answer your question? 1 Rick D reacted to this
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 Honestly, I'm surprised there aren't more signings like this, leaguewide. If he pans out, awesome. If he doesn't, no big deal. FWIW tho, I'm encouraged that Kenny seems to be looking for size with his forward acquisitions. Nosek and Colin Campbell are both fairly big and will only get bigger as they fill out for the pro game.
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 Really? Ok, Leino, Brunner, Brunnstrom...does that answer your question? Leino - traded for some picks. Brunner - helped us immensely in the playoffs that year, and one of our better goalscorers that season. Brunnstrom - played like 6 games. Which one of these signings hurt the team again? 8 TheDetroitRedWings, wings4thecup06, 13dangledangle and 5 others reacted to this
Richdg 267 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 Talent added for nothing? Sure. Just don't expect him to be a star right away. That was the biggest issue with many fans and some of the guys in the past. 2 55fan and twopups reacted to this

luvmnger 125 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 planning parade right...now. seriously though...sounds great to me. if the scouts like him....and he comes with a simple contract, then whats to ***** about.think of them as draft picks if that helps you sleep better. nosek-sekac-jurco....sounds like a made up line in EA NHL 2002. DatsyukianDekes 2,428 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 Nosek's agent, Ales Volek, also represents Red Wings forward Tomas Jurco. Volek liked how Grand Rapids Griffins coach Jeff Blashill helped develop Jurco, which aided the Red Wings in their efforts to land Nosek. Love Blash!
LeftWinger 4,973 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) Leino - traded for some picks. Brunner - helped us immensely in the playoffs that year, and one of our better goalscorers that season. Brunnstrom - played like 6 games. Which one of these signings hurt the team again? all of them. None of them helped us win a Cup...i am all for signing him to develop in GR, but we have no room for another undrafted European experiment on the big club. I'd rather give the spot to Mantha. So not winning a cup automatically equates to hurting the team? Man, screw us for signing Dekeyser and Nyquist and Tatar and screw the Islanders for signing Tavares because none of them have helped win cups either. They're all so bad for their teams. Wow. I can't believe anyone would want to sign free talent that they didn't have to spend a pick on and is already farther along than a lot of prospects they have. Not to mention he's a guy that can bolster the C lineup in gr which I believe is what everyone expects is going to happen, considering his agent's comments about Blash. Talent is talent whether we draft it and it develops over there or it develops over there and then we sign it and develop it further. Nobody said he'll be an experiment on the big club. He's just like every other prospect now. And he's one of our better ones at center so I don't know why anyone would consider this a bad thing. 6 HadThomasVokounOnFortSt, hooon, FlashyG and 3 others reacted to this

Shinzaki 72 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 21 years old...6-2 and 200lbs...improving stat line the past two years in Czech hockey...I don't see the downside here at all. We didn't win the Cup last year so Datsyuk and Z hurt us?
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) Nothing against him and my local team has done something similar and I hated it. Why not give the job to good ol Michigan boy ? I think the Wings are running the risk of becoming a very european dominated organisation, where are - save for Dekeyser - are the upcoming local heroes? I mean dekeyser is but we talking USA/Canadian loca or local like in the Detroit area code??? Detroit local I'm not saying all guys should be local because that would be almost impossible even at the AHL level but a better mix between euros and detroit area players would be nice. Like I said I'm a euro myself and I absolutely can't stand what my hometown (foreigners are getting contracts endlessly while local guys are begging for a contract....) team has become, don't want the same thing happening to the Wings

I mean who is the last player to be on wings that's local besides dekeyser? That's kind of how the wings were so good they were the first to become heavily euro and Russian dominated and were ahead of everyone. Now people have caught up.
