marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Blashill should get a pass if we miss. He's not going to be the best coach in hockey right out the gate. Babcock barely got them there with the same roster. Seems people are just trying to get their "I told you so's" ready. This team is rebuilding. I'm just hoping for the best and enjoying the ride If the team misses the playoffs, everyone should be accountable. From the coach right through the entire roster. The team is rebuilding yes, But the kids have some experience now. It is on them and the coaches to take things to the next level. If the team goes through a set back next season, there is no pass for anyone. 2 krsmith17 and number9 reacted to this
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzcgyk62cHU What happens if Blashill misses the playoffs next year? Hypothetically? Does he get a pass his first season? Is that all you're worried about?
number9 3,297 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Is that all you're worried about? No, I'm not worried about it. I actually think he makes the playoffs next year. I'm just asking a simple question. If he doesn't make it, do we turn a blind eye because it was his first season?
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Personally I would give him a pass, the best coach in all of hockey barely made the playoffs with this team. So if nothing changes, especially on the defensive side I would not our the blame on Blashill. Edited June 10, 2015 by frankgrimes
jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Cool hand Luke was famous for his pluck. His moxie. He wasn't notoriously fast at anything in particular. Get it together man. You're slipping. It would've been fine if we were all drunk, but you had to ruin it.BTW, I am drunk, so I'm too lazy to type the media code, but here's the link to the full presser. https://youtu.be/GAZ7D0V0tKI 1 kipwinger reacted to this
marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Personally I would give him a pass, the best coach in all of hockey barely made the playoffs with this team. So if nothing changes, especially on the defensive side I would not our the blame on Blashill. Only 3 teams were comfortably in the playoffs, and until the last month of the season we were right there with them. In the parity era, you're either a top team, one of sooooooo many competitive teams, or a bad/inexperienced team. Even the top teams in the league this day and age have holes. So while the Wings barely made the playoffs, we were one of 6 teams fighting for 5 playoff spots. A better shootout record would have had us up there with the top teams. So there is no excuses to regress now. Like the media and management have been saying, a new voice can bring new life to veterans. That combined with the fact that the kids will be better, this team should be one of those top teams next season. This roster really isn't that far away from that. We got a couple years of contending, then another transition begins when Dats retires (albeit shouldn't be as long this time around).

Learn2LuvIt 246 Report post Posted June 10, 2015 What's to stop Chelios from being a great coach?Didn't you know!! Every great coach in history came out of the womb with NHL coaching experience and never had to get behind the bench as a rookie. Pat 44 Report post Posted June 11, 2015 It's been 2 days since he's been announced as coach and I cannot find anything about what his salary will be. The only thing they've let be known is it's a 4 year term. Does anyone have any information on this? I believe he should be in the $2M+ Salary range per year, what do you guys think? Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 11, 2015 What's to stop Chelios from being a great coach? The wings new PK strategy will be to line broken sticks up across the blue-line to stop the opposing team. "We all got a break and started somewhere"...that's not true for great coaches though. It's a genetically tested for trait. "Learning the ropes"...nah, not great coaches...these guys were SURE THINGS. Duh!! That's what I said (just more succinctly). The wings new PK strategy will be to line broken sticks up across the blue-line to stop the opposing team. The sirdrake days were the best the forums ever seen IMO. It was a great time in our lives. Another strategy is for a player to arch his back and lay over the puck on a delayed penalty, preventing either team from touching it and running out the period (or in the 3rd, the game). 2 Detroit \# 1 Fan and GMRwings1983 reacted to this
