The rematch in Chicago might even be worse. Playoffs are going to be the same as always, whoever is coming out of the west is going to win the cup. The east is absolutely no match for the Hawks, Kings, Ducks or Blues.

Time to give Mantha a shot and let's see if Howard can replicate his amazing performance. The good thing is I didn't expect much so I'm not mad but man this Hawksteam is something else. No freaking weakness, thanks to Crawford having himself a career year :(

I wouldn't put the Blues in that category, they have won 1 playoff series in the last 13 years. Unless they show me otherwise, they are just not a team built for the playoffs.

For everything you say about the Wings and their first round exits, the Blues are much worse.

Lol sorry but Washington can absolutely beat anyone of those teams.

Game was even for a period but after that it became eerily clear that these Hawks have our number without any doubt whatsoever. Ie this game would have been lost like this 95 times of 100.

In my opinion, as it stands, we have no chance to beat them if both teams are healthy etc. Perhaps we could get lucky with a single goal lead and our goalie stands on his head, but that's about it.

Bah.

Their was some good intensity up until the 5 on 3. If Howard has a strong game on Sunday I'd keep going with him. Mrazek didn't make one big save last night, seemed like Chicago had six scoring chances all game and scored 5 goals

I agree with this. We pretty much matched them up to that point, then as soon as that 5 on 3 happened everything pretty much fell apart.

I don't know what game you were watching. Mrazek had tons of nice saves. Before the 4th goal, Petr made like 2 or 3 amazing saves in a row but his D were just standing there so Chicago finally got it in. The 2nd goal was zero chance because the Pk did not know what the heck they were doing. Mrazek was absolutely not the problem last night. I would be shocked if Blashill plays Howard next game. He is going to stick with Petr as he should. Petr is our guy, not Howard.

The coaching staff is a big reason we lost last night. The Powerplay coach needs to be fired. How does he still have his job? It is unbelievable! Blashill continues to misuse certain players. Abby does not deserve to play with Pav and Hank because he has zero finish, as shown again last night. Larkin is struggling to generate offense so I think it is time to mix things up a bit:

Zetty- Pav- Larkin (Larkin works hard like Abby but has a lot more skill and finish- this will get Larkin going again)

Jurco- AA- Tatar

Nyquist- Sheahan- Abby

Richards-Helm-Glendening

Everytime Mrazek has a loss you make a ton of excuses and blame everything including the coaching staff. When it's Howard, you solely blame Howard. Try to be a bit more fair in your assessment so it can be taken seriously.

And what exactly has Jurco done to earn a 2nd line spot?

The 1st and 3rd were stoppable and then the game was over. Coming back from 3-0 in the third period wasn't going to happen. We can match them line for line in a tight match up if the defense is much better (like they can be) and we get great goaltending from either Howard or Mrazek.

Scratching Smith is a little puzzling. He makes us faster even if he doesn't rack up points. It seems Blash values defense #1 but even our shutdown guys aren't exactly defensive juggernauts. I think we are capable of being a good shut down team when we're on our game and get great goaltending though

I was agreeing to the "Their was some good intensity up until the 5 on 3." part.

I thought we hung right in there until that 5-3, them scoring twice there sealed the deal.

Blash needs to figure out some line combos imo-Larkin was at his best with Zetterberg and when Jurco is with Dats he's looked fabulous too.

Tatar Datsyuk Jurco

Zetterberg Larkin Abdelkader

Anthanasiou Richards Nyquist

Sheahan Helm Glendening

...It starts with Z & D boss and Dats & Jurco

AA has 4 goals and 7 points in 19 games and Jurco has 4 goals and 6 points in 39 games. Yet somehow Jurco is first line and AA is 3rd line?

Why are fans still so high on Jurco? He's being outplayed by guys younger and less experienced than he is. Jurco shouldn't be anything more than a third line winger till he can show he can play 1st line minutes.

Worst. Experience. Ever.

At Joe Louis anyway.

There are not enough walls for me to bang my head on. I have nothing good to say about the game whatsoever outside of Pete had some good saves. The only ones that actually showed up were the fans.

Speaking of fans, the Joe was lousy with Hawks fans. Met some really cool ones, but had the douchy ones in my section. Some Wings fans looked to maybe challenge for the unclassy crown, but the Hawks pulled out that win as well.

The only good thing about going to the game was that I didn't have to listen to NBC. Other than that, is was a major off night for our boys. I lost count of how many pucks were "passed" to literally no one. In the first period and a half, the passes that connected were made to Chicago. No backchecking, no forechecking. Hell, no defense for that matter. Supposedly we had 10 hits in the first, but I only saw two, and those barely passed for hits.

I picked the wrong game to be designated driver.

Ouch. I hope you put away the DD designation once you got home.

Jurco has looked good while playing on that top line with Z & D, AA looks great on any line but I would just love to see him with Goose. Nyquist is one of the few players on our team that can make plays at the speed AA and himself are going. Jurco is liked by a lot of people as if he ever gets going he'll be a beast, best case of this happening is with Datsyuk-again just my opinion of what Id like to see

Petr didn't have a very strong game last night. IMO...I thought Seabrooks goal and Kane's goal were stoppable. For the life of me, i don't understand why Petr played last night. There were reports that he's had/has a sore groin. If that's the case, why wouldn't you play Jimmy who has been really, really good as of late?? Give Petr time to heal properly. I don't get it.
