So.....as always, take this with a grain of salt, but I just got finished talking to my friend (the one who told me Yzerman was pretty much already running the team before he was hired) and he told me his source on the team (training staff) that Blashill will be gone VERY SOON, if not within DAYS and Dan Bylsma is going to be the new HC.  He did say the his source didn't know if it was going to be on an interim basis, or permanently. HE also said that Yzerman is a supporter of Bylsma, so that could factor in.  Again, it's my friend who is very close with a trainer for the team. Take it as you may.

LInes up with what these guys were saying https://detroitsportsnation.com/rumor-detroit-red-wings-gm-steve-yzerman-fire-jeff-blashill/apowell/detroit-red-wings-news/12/31/2019/216605/

Not hard to believe something has to happen.  I doubt the way they were playing losing by 4 goals what seems like every night was not making one former Captain known for playing his heart out happy.

But Bylsma is the creator of our dismal PP correct?

Whether it's in days or at the end of the season, we all knew it was coming.... "They expect one of us in the wreckage brother"

Not sure how excited I am about Bylsma... Seems like a mediocre choice for a HC, although I guess Bylsma has always floated around to young upstart teams? Young Crosby's Penguins, young Eichel's Sabres...

Kinda hoping he will just be interim. Otherwise I can see us taking another spin on the coach carousel again in a few years.

Not sure but it seems that Blue Jackets are interested? I was listening QC radio...

:eh: that's definitely an odd one

I don't see the Jackets as being a cup contender who needs Howard, and they don't really have the assets to become a contender at the deadline either.

I think the prime destinations for Howard or Bernier are all divisional rivals.

Toronto - needs a back up for Anderssen
Buffalo - needs back up for Ullmark (Jimmy's hometown team)
Florida - needs goalie help in general

Not sure how much validity this site has (I'm assuming very little), but I'd trade Howard and / or Green for virtually anything at this point. I'd say there's no way Yzerman can trade Howard for Bemstrom or Green for Nylander, but he did trade de la Rose for Fabbri... so maybe?...

I agree, can't see it happening. Dude just pulled this out of his bum and here you have it, "breaking news". I mean if it's true I'd be very happy.

  • Sam Reinhart
  • Jack Eichel
  • Evgeny Kuznetsov
  • Nolan Patrick
  • Johnny Gaudreau
  • Sean Monahan
  • Canucks looking to aggressively trade (Jim Benning the master of being fleeced)

Lots of big name centers possibly getting moved this offseason. Could be the year to move on one. Especially with the flat cap and revenue downturn this year. Teams may be more desperate to move pieces than in the past...

Nolan Patrick for the 2021 3rd round pick that we got from Vegas back in 2018 (Tatar trade) ?

I'm guessing Seattle will take Patrick off their hands.

But yeah I might do it for a 3rd or even a 2nd. Hoping for a Sam Bennett type turnaround. Although Patrick's -30 on that team is super concerning.

Eichel would deplete our farm. Reinhart is like the only other one that fits our timeline that is any good.

Matt Duchene is the dark horseman of franchise apocalypse.

>Gets to Nashville, Preds descending into an imminent rebuild.

Never sign this player. Bad juju.

No - this is not Matt Damon ...

I've always like Hyman and would be interested. But with the amount of money he wants AND now the Leafs want to trade his rights, IDK.

Sounds like your dumb Eichel and Landeskog scenario all wrapped in one... Surely Yzerman will be interested in trading assets away for a 29 year old needing a new contract ($5M+ long-term)...

Ooooo hostile

We've needed a Mike Green replacement for over a year now...

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have his offense. But he is a disaster defensively. It would be nice if we could protect a guy like him on the third pair and use him on the PP. But we're looking to have a pretty young crop of dmen this season compared to recent years. It could get ugly with a liability like Yandle.

I'm not interested in an elderly Yandle

But boy he fits the mold of what a Seider needs in a partner. LH offensive specialist who Seider can cover for.

I think Seider would be best suited to play with someone who is also responsible in his own end. Don't wanna neuter Seider's offense completey.
