I guess he left out the part where Detroit acquires Kreider.  Lets do this:

to DET :  Chris Kreider, K'Andre Miller

to NYR : 7th Round pick (much needed Cap room to sign Trouba)

then

to BOS : Chris Kreider, Mike Green (50% salary retained)

to DET : Boston 2020 2nd

then

to VGK : Jonatan Berggren, Boston 2020 2nd

to DET : Rights to Gusev

So we give up Berggren and a 7th and end up with Gusev, K'Andre Miller.  I'll take it! Make it so!

I like it.  Get it done, SteKenny!

Sure doesn’t seem that they were that close after all. I wonder if it’s about term or money.

Trouba wanting a short term contract, say a 3 or 4-year deal, and hitting UFA on the right side of 30 maybe? Would be consistent with his actions in Winnipeg.

Wasn't it Brooks spouting some BS about Yzerman talking to the Rags about the GM job? I will believe it when it's done

Yes it was Brooksie, but I think he just said the Rags would kick the tires on everyone including Yzerman.

And of course fans take that as "omg Yzerman to NY!" just like everyone hears Trouba's comment about his GF being a doctor in NY and everyone's suddenly like "His GF is running the show!"

3-4 years sounds consistent with what his girl probably has left to go to school. Play in NY until she grads, re-sign in NY if she works there or then move to wherever she gets a job. She is running the show for sure.

You can be a doctor in Michigan too if you didn't know

Fun fact...There are more doctors in the USA/Canada than there are NHL players...Hell - there's a $hit ton more doctors in Canada alone than there are NHL'ers...

Actually he reported Yzerman was "interested in talking to the Rangers". Bullpap.

Yep, that is why I said "if she works in NY OR move to wherever she gets a job.  He'll spend 3-4 years in NY while she finishes school, then he will move to wherever she gets a job....anywhere, but I bet it will not be in Michigan.

Pretty sure they said she's done with school and starting her residency, not that that makes much difference. Also, what if she gets a job in Montana or Louisiana? Is he just going to retire?

Pretty sure they're going to make a decision together, taking the desires and best interests of both into consideration. Similar in many respects to the way real-life people do.

I'd take Namestnikov for the right price. Yzerman drafted him and his uncle is Slava Kozlov. He can play 2C when Fil and Frans inevitably s*** the bed.

Really like this move for EDM, depending how much salary is retained. But if Neal can be back to how he was before the flames, they might finally have a solid winger for McDavid.

Will be interesting to see how much of Lucic's salary Holland is retaining. Not sure how much this makes sense for Calgary... trading with your biggest rival as well.
That said, If Holland retains a lot of salary and Neal doesn't tun things around... he may have just compounded an already bad problem.
