#2529217 Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

No. He's going to score 65 goals in training camp. And then he's going to break Selanne's rookie scoring record.

I need something to believe in. I need hope.

I should've listened to you, GMR. I should've listened. I've gone back and forth between love and hate for this guy, but now I straight-up hate him. It sounds childish, cuz it's just a game/sport. But, s***, it's how I feel. I literally hate the guy. It's generally very hard to get me truly hate anyone. But this guy...f*** him.

I don't  hate the guy.  I just think people overrated him for years.

He inherited a great team and was surrounded by smart people.  When the money ran out, he still had the brains around him in good coaching and terrific scouts.  Plus he had Jim Nill.  Now most of the brains are gone.  Other teams are scouting in places the Wings used to scout in.  We're left with a GM who has immunity at his job, and an owner who's basically as lucid as a vegetable.

Holland will leave this job when Holland wants to leave this job.  No one will make him.

As I said. We're the new Islanders.

Except they have a young superstar and lots of enforcers.

We have no reason for fans to attend games.  A boring team full of small players who don't fight and finish middle of the pack.

How many people here could pick this guy out of a police lineup?

Seems like Holland is making a move for the sake of making a move.

If Dan Cleary comes back next season, he should automatically be given the Masterton Trophy for exhibiting "a high degree the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey".

Maybe we're going for McDavid or Eichel.

If Holland traded for McGrattan right now, I'd immediately proclaim him the best GM in the league, and spend the next three hours vehemently defending him from all you scoundrels in this thread.

:hehe:

Unlike these other GM's, Holland has something called immunity.

Immunity at one's job makes one not have to take risks.  Holland isn't going to overpay someone (unless it's Quincey or Samuelsson).

Holland knows Ilitch isn't going to do anything to him.  So does everyone else here.

Dallas is making moves, trying to improve, and players aren't refusing to sign there.

Tampa Bay is making moves, trying to improve, and players aren't refusing to sign there.

Am I sensing a theme?

People who know history know that Holland didn't build those late 90's Cup teams. He spent to maintain them (02) after they had been built by Bowman and his predecessors. Furthermore, Holland was lucky in 08 and 09. (See Joe Dumars for reference). Having the best defenseman in a generation (along with prime Dats and Z) can do that to an organization. He didn't build the Wings championships and he sure as hell can't build them now.

People shouldn't be complaining about getting fleeced in the Legwand deal. The team got fleeced in losing Yzerman and Nill.

As I said before, Holland is like a trust fund baby that ends up blowing all the money he was given.  He's withered this team down into mediocrity.

Unfortunately, our owner is senile and is eating peanuts at Tiger games.

I hope Holland brings Luca Brasi with him to this meeting.

Will demand too much money for this team.

#2526948 NHL Trivia: Part One

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 29 June 2014 - 01:44 PM

Yea I spent ages trying to get his name right, then gave up. At the end he was there, I was pretty pissed!

Well, like I said, I don't consider looking up a name cheating once you've already thought of it.

This isn't a spelling bee trivia (although it should be with hockey names  )

#2526926 BUF to buy out Christian Ehrhoff

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 29 June 2014 - 01:11 PM

Ehrhoff scored 33 points last year in 73 games.

Apparently, I'm supposed to get on my knees and blow him for that amazing accomplishment.

#2526906 FLA to Buyout Jovanovski

Ah, I might be thinking of Wisniewski. Or maybe it was both.

Pretty sure Wisniewski said it.  Not sure about Jovo.

In any case, what they said was true.  Kenny is cheap.

#2526683 NHL Trivia: Part One

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 28 June 2014 - 03:02 PM

I get bored a lot in the offseason, so I thought we'd play some hockey trivia this year.  I found a pretty cool sports trivia site, which includes NHL trivia.

The first one I linked below is to name all the 500 goal scorers in NHL history in less than 10 minutes.

I got 39/42 right on this one.  Was disappointed in two of the three I missed.  And there was one I would have never gotten right.

Try your hand.

#2525712 Adam Almquist signed with KHL club

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 25 June 2014 - 01:14 PM

I would have rather Kenny traded him to a team where he would get an immediate chance to play instead of letting him walk. He had a great season with the Griffins last year with 31 points and you get nothing out of it.

If he couldn't "immediately" play for our terrible defense, then there aren't many places he would have played around the league.
