#2554294 12/6 GDT : Rangers 2 at Red Wings 3

Howard looks out of position far too much tonight. Hank's line looks so slow again. Maybe switch Jurco and Franzen

Any line Franzen is on will look slow.  A line of Fedorov, Bure and Franzen would look slow.

#2554095 Oilers schedule presser tomorrow

I'm motivated now to buy NHL 15 and turn the Oilers around in the first season!

#2553590 If You Could Be Mod For A Day, What Would You Do

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 03 December 2014 - 11:05 AM

Give everyone 1 hour of that day where everything goes.  No suspensions, flame wars galore, nudity, etc.  It'd be called the "vent' thread.

Bring back all the posters I like who were banned (the list is too long to name).  But it'd be like going into Dante's hell to rescue souls punished for eternity.

Make the water cooler a part of the GDT.  (I haven't see a forum where the water cooler was used so infrequently).  I mean, do people here not care about anything besides hockey?  I know most people will never read this thread even if he stays here on the front page for a year.

Give all the posters who don't have avatars, avatars.  Everyone should have an avatar, or one will be assigned to you.

Bring back the political forum (this is for you hillbillywingsfan).

#2553505 Alfredsson Set to Sign 1-day Contract with Senators

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 02 December 2014 - 10:05 PM

I wouldn't remember Fedorov any differently if he signed with the Wings for one day and then retired.  Didn't he play in the Winter Classic last year in a Wings jersey also?

Now if he had come back to Detroit for a final season, that would have been a different story and maybe would have brought closure and a new chapter.  But one game just for the fans (or in this case, not even a game), it just doesn't make sense.

To me, Alfie retired as a Wing, but everyone will remember him as a Senator.  Regardless of this whole story.

Very classy move by the Sens. Does anyone else feel the same I do? Wake up Mr. Illitch and Ken Holland! Bring Fedorov home for a day so he can officially retire a Red Wing! Prove to the everyone that you are the Class of the NHL! Fedorov is the BEST Russian to ever grace the NHL, he is easily top 3 Red Wings of all time. I don't want to hijack the thread, but I just think that the Wings should do the same for Fedorov.

Congrats Alfie on a great career, thank you for allowing us to have you for a year, but thank you for not taking up a roster spot from one of our kids, especially if you weren't 100%. Thank you for not being greedy!

(on a side note, along with Feds being brought HOME for a day, I would love to see the Wings "retire" Bob Probert and Shawn Burr from the NHL in a nice ceremony.)

I've never understood the idea of signing just for one day so you can retire with your old team.  Does anyone even remember whether a particular athlete did this gesture or not?

I sure as hell don't.  Seems rather pointless.

Was annoying? He got 90% of the screen time. Was probably one of the poorest documentaries I've ever seen. Was a crappy autobiographical film if anything.

I agree.  There should have been more Lilja interviews, with fight tapes of his TKO of Sheldon Souray and his beating of that poor Swedish chap in this video.

#2553138 Brodeur signs with Blues. 700k + some nutty bonuses

Brodeur should retire not playing games for anyone else.  Especially as a backup.

Jagr should have shot.

Helm, Datsyuk and Weiss on the same line?  The helicopter line.  No wings.

#2552017 Chelios Is Not Too Fond of Shanahan

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 26 November 2014 - 04:59 PM

Meh.  He didn't really say anything too bad.  Shanny didn't have management experience and he is a "hockey politician".

Not like Chelios called him out for sleeping with a teammates wife................................. :sarcasm:

This team is not going to succeed until it gives Dan Cleary some real linemates.  It's brutal to watch him playing with these scrubs.

That was worse than average from Howard.

#2550837 Smith and Ericcsson?

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 21 November 2014 - 06:37 PM

I love fighting and would love to see it returned to what it was, but yes it's 100% slowly phasing itself out.

And it's phased out on LGW too.  About 5 years ago, there were countless pro-enforcer posters on here.  Now, they're phased out and replaced by this crowd.

Someone finally picked up one of our jobbers off waivers.

Seems like that never happens.

#2550229 Smith and Ericcsson?

I think they understand it's part of the game, they just don't want it to be.
And its 'part of the game' like hooking is part of the game.

Hooking isn't fun, though (no prostitute jokes, please  ).

If you're a Wings fan, fighting is technically not a part of the game anymore.  We're like the old Soviet teams whose coaches instructed them not to fight back against the Canadians.

Smith did nothing wrong.  It was just bad luck he got hurt.
