    Red Wings Archived Games Index

The following are archives for Wings games that will open in a new flash player window. These are not hosted by me, but the NHL and streamed on demand by their servers. I figure I'd share these while it's still possible, so sometime in the future be it in weeks, months or seasons they will cease to work....so watch them while you can. I will be updating this post as the season goes on; new games tend to be up anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours after they've been played before they become archives. I will also be adding posts in this thread of past playoffs and seasons, so eventually nearly every Wings game through the 07/08 season will be posted. Again I don't know how long this will last. Due to this being a long list I'm generating in excel there could be some errors, or the rare chance there is no archive of the game. Just ask me to look at a certain game should you find one not working and I'll look into it. I'm not sure of the best way to lay this out, so I'm just doing a simple list. If you have any suggestions, please share. Red Wings Archives of the 2010 Playoffs No longer updating this list, moved to my site....see my profile. $2.8 million? Now you want Draper completely off the team? Amazing how quick fans can turn their back on long time heroes. Just a matter of time before people start dissing Lidstrom and Datsyuk. Can't wait to read the drama by you. "but Draper's contract did prevent the Wing's from signing a player better then modano" Same can be said about Cleary's, Filppula's, Zetterberg's. Lidstrom's, Bertuzzi's, Holmstrom's, Rafalski's, Stuart's or Datsyuk's contract. But hey, lets forget about winning a couple of cups in the past 8 years and start throwing players under the bus. And for the record, I don't think Red Wings need a $2.8 million dollar forward, the top 6 is set. Modano fits Red Wings style and will compliment the 3rd line very nicely. I'd bet if he gets some PP time, he'll score around 20 goals this season. Unless you want to spend that $2.8 on a 5/6th defensemen?!?..., then that's just asinine. Wings are set with a solid veteran dman in Salei, and it's time for Nill's draft picks to start getting some experience and the future can continue to be built. (You do realize Kindl is out of options and must be waived, traded or kept on the team, right? Same for Ericsson) Much like Yzerman and Shanahan did, Draper is helping with the transition for the youth guys; so it goes more smoothly. Like I said, the $500-$600k overpayment is merely a Meech or Lebda... WHOOPIE!

This. IMO it's just a means to an end. If the alternate to a shootout is a tie then I say bring on the shootout. The game has to end at some point so awarding each team at least a point with an extra point going to the team that performs better under the pressure seems like a decent way to handle things. I like how it's currently done.

Your mother is lazy and she sucks. If you can't tell this is a jab at the whole 'you are internet kid i kick your ass trolling' that has no place in this thread, by me cleverly using a LGW meme. As for Asham, I don't see how what he adds is so prolific it would be better than what would be lost. Hitting/fight ≠ scoring. Sorry, but at the end of the night its about who scored more goals, not who won more fights or had more big hits.

No, I don't understand his argument. It's nonsense and makes me question his hockey intelligence. Had Holland signed, yet, another 4th liner this offseason (to make a total of seven (7) 4th liners under contract), then I would question if Holland lost his mind and needs to be stripped from the GM position. I was never a fan of Williams either, but in all fairness, he was coming off a 20 goal season on crappy teams, and is a right hand shot. He was suppose to have a specific role and broke his leg and never recovered. You obviously don't remember Babcock praising the Leino-Filppula-Williams line as our best line at the start of the season. Then injuries happened and everything fell apart and never recovered. This forward linup looks week as hell, and we'd likely lose assets (Miller and Ritola, and Ritola may have some untapped upside, but lets throw that all away for a 32 yo 4th liner - Brilliant!): Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmström Hudler-Flippula-Franzen Bertuzzi-Helm-Cleary Asham-Abdelkader-Eaves The lineup below is unquestionably light years better than the above - If you like winning, then you need a winning team with depth: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmström Bertuzzi-Flippula-Franzen Hudler-Modano-Cleary Eaves-Abdelkader-Helm Holland may still lose Ritola because we have too many 4th liners. LGW's solution, sign more 4th liners

I agree. Asham would've been a nice little addition and for cheap. In these threads about adding grit people always make the argument that guys who will hit, fight, and aren't total goons aren't out there to be had, at least not for cheap. Asham is a good example of a guy that was. And I have to admire your dedication in this thread GMR, but it's a lost cause dude. If Holland had signed Asham, there would be a 20 page thread about how great the guy is and what a positive addition to the team he is. Because he signed elsewhere, most of what you're going to get is how Holland knows what he's doing and Asham is useless. Obviously we don't know if Holland ever contacted him or Asham ever would've played here. But he's a guy who was had for cheap that would've made a team better. That seems worth commenting on. This place has become such a Red Wings cheerleading camp sometimes. Talking about this s*** doesn't mean you hate the Wings or think Holland is a bad GM. It's a hockey forum. It's not like he was saying Holland was a terrible GM or the Wings suck. Just pointing out someone who was out there and being disappointed we didn't get him, when the argument is often made these guys don't exist or will cost too much.

Holland should have foreseen Williams was going to break his leg and not recover in time to be productive. A perfect GM would have anticipated all the injuries before the season kicked off. A mistake would have been signing yet another (seventh) 4th liner instead of building the best 3rd line in the league. But you're right, as unwillingly as you are to understand that Holland put together the best possible winning team without losing assets, you still have the right to your own opinion. Like I said, in the forward position and depth, Red Wings are unmatched in every category. Signing Asham over Modano would have proved to be the the perfect example of "geniuses make mistakes too". In an earlier post you said that you would take Asham over Maltby, Draper and Miller. Just curious, who would you propose to trade to fit him on the 4th line? Abdelkader? Eaves? or Helm? My golly, Wings look pretty damn good on the 4th line even without your old 4th line "savior". Do you even understand what your argument is?

Asham for $700k is a good bit of business on the Pens part. Eaves for $750k is good business for the Wings. Was Asham asking for this amount all along? Its what he was on last year at Philly, and after such a good year surely he'd be looking for a raise......? Maybe he had to take the same as no one has offered him more and beside's he is 32 and the Wings have a younger and bigger version in Abdelkader. Asham would only hinder our 4th line as he wouldn't be able to keep up with his line mates, Eaves,Draper,Helm, Miller and Abby are all very good skaters, not so sure Asham is in the same class, so he wouldn't necessaraly fit in with our system.

You are in no position to challenge my "knowledge of the game" when you are arguing against hockey geniuses (who built multiple cup champion teams) in Holland, Jim Nill, and Jim Devellano... Seriously? Your opinion is the minority. I'm siding with the entire Red Wings' management for the team they built this year. You are the minority here. And you say this isn't a video game? I think the only one here playing the video game is you. I doubt Holland, Nill and Devellano have time to play video games, they are too busy building championship teams. What's your excuse?

How much more would Asham do than the 4th line options we already have? And how much better is he that you had such a problem with him not being signed here. For the record: He was signed in mid-August at a bit over league minimum salary. What does that tell you about how valuable he was to teams around the league?

I guess I did. I just wanted to make sure that's not how it sounded. I never said we should have an enforcer on every line and constantly fight. That's not our game. But a guy like Asham over some old man like Maltby who's being offered a similar contract is something I'm going to get a little pissed about. I haven't said anything in this thread other than my own opinion on the matter. If you guys don't care about this issue as much, then so be it. I just don't like any smart alecs coming in here and misquoting things I said to make themselves sound smarter than what they really are.

I am totally with you, Holland and the Wings are desperate for 4th liner players; they don't have enough and need to sign about 30 more. Babcock could have a killer 4th line of Asham-Helm-Abdelkader-Draper-Miller-Ritola-Eaves! Holland screwed up, he could have the biggest and baddest 4th line in the league. Problem is though, would the refs let the Wings ice 9 players on the same line? That could be tricky, but I'm sure it can be done. Or maybe Wings should, instead of icing 2nd line talent on the 3rd line, waive Hudler, Cleary and Modano so Babcock can ice two 4th lines. GMRwings projected linup: Zetter-Dats-Holmer Bert-Filppula-Frazen Helm-Abdelkader-Miller Eaves-Draper-Asham In favor of: Zetter-Dats-Holmer Bert-Fil-Franzen Hudler-Modano-Cleary Eaves-Abdelkader-Helm Brilliant!

But he gives us an added dimension that those guys don't. And despite what other posters may say, it does help to have a guy on the 4th line that can drop the gloves.

Our fourth line has energy. We have Abdelkader and Eaves, among others. It's not like we have a fourth line of cowards on the team and need someone like Asham for it to stay afloat. This is a single fourth line guy who honestly would not improve the team a hell of a lot over what he would replace. Nothing to freak out about.

So you people are saying you'd rather have ties than shootouts? Why? Ties are much more bullcrap than a shootout. I don't think anyone tells stories about how exciting the tie was the night before. The shootout is a quick way to handle ties during the regular season, as opposed to Sudden Death (which I know we'd all like) that would make games way to long throughout the season. If shootouts existed in the playoffs, they'd be retarded, but they don't. They don't decide the Stanley Cup, so why hate them?
