Osgood injures his groin in practice

MacDonald is not better than Osgood. No way.

theres no way... MacDonald hasnt even played yet this season. And honeslty. How many of you would be more comfortable with Joey in the net? Not me. For all the bashing Osgood has taken, whether he deserves it or not, i would much rather have Osgood in net. and im sure the majority here would agree.

Funny how things change. Back in 2007 when most of us were saying "Give Joey time, he'll become a decent goalie", the rest of the board wanted him traded for a bag of chips because he wasnt getting wins. Now a couple years later everyone thinks he's great cuz he shutout the Wings once. I'm no Ozzie slappie, and I love Joey and anything, but no chance in hell would I take him over Ozzie, and I cant believe people think that he's better..

Osgood injures his groin in practice

I don't know that Joey will play in Edmonton because those kids in Edmonton are good, this is not the same Oilers team from the last couple of years! These kids can put the puck in the net! I would bet Joey plays in Vancouver, because we all know Looooooooouuuu will give up goals from the blue line all night long!! And Honestly these negative comments about Ozzie need to stop, sure he is in a bit of a bind now, but he has ALWAYS pulled through ( no pun on the pulled part). Ozzie is a professional with 3 rings and being a backup in the NHL is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Is Ozzie as good as he was 2 years ago, No! But I would take him as a backup any day with his resume!!

    Datsyuk stay at home defesneman?

Uhhhh yes that's right. The game was played in Detroit so that's where the story is coming from. It's Detroit's fault a writer from The Tenesseean thought Datsyuk was a defenseman?

Funny coming from the guy that just called someone else an idiot based on what he wrote on the same internet. And every goalie in every league in every game makes 'some good saves'.

Osgood had a solid game against Nashville. And a very solid game against Chicago. Joey has bounced from team to team, including ours twice. Nowhere during any of his stays (even when on a Vesa Toskala driven Maple Leaf team) did anything think he was a recognizable piece. Even with the Islanders he couldn't secure a backup role. Now he is back here simply as a depth goaltender to keep our prospects from coming up too early, and somehow you think he has any projections to improve past where he is now? Come on. I'm not in denial about anything. I don't think Osgood is going to carry this team, or even that he is a suitable starter at this point. You on the other hand are making baseless assumptions and crapping on Osgood because it is in your nature to be negative about anything and everything. You are a joke.

When have I been living in the past? Joey is not a solid NHL goaltender. Never has been, never will be. Osgood's past has nothing to do with the fact even at his old self he can still do better than MacDonald can at this point. I never used 09 as a reason to say Osgood is better than Macdonald right now. The reason I posted that video was to respond to the assertion that Osgood hasn't done anything since 09 (and I figured it included the 09 season considering it would be asinine to use half a season to judge anyone's overall ability, especially when they play 10 games in that time). I mentioned Macdonald's lackluster career as a goaltender in the NHL to say Osgood is better. How did you get so far in life with all this negativity?

I to the above 3 posters... I just have a different opinion. I didn't slam Holland for this, I didn't say I hated Miller and I sure didn't say that keeping Ritola was the answer to all our problems. Whats wrong with wanting to see a home grown kid get a chance? Its like you can even have a different view on this board with out getting the gears for one thing or another. I just would have liked to see what he could have done and it would have had to come at someone's expense...that someone for me would have been Miller. Its my opinion, I'm not asking you to like it.

    Goals scored per game.

i voted for low scoring... you know, 5-0 detroit, 4-1 detroit, that sort of thing

    Goals scored per game.

I don't like PC answers, but I don't care much about the score in terms of numbers, and I don't think artificially inflating goals will inherently make a better product. Certainly the NHL is better without the clutch and grab era that bogged the game down in the several years preceding the lockout, and it was their fault in the first place for not enforcing rules concerning clutch and grab, but I'm highly confused at the notion that more goals = exciting game. More often than not, from experience, I've tended to like higher scoring games because they were exciting and back and forth, showcasing a lot of talent, but that was due to both teams' strategy and not rules made to artificially up a score. On the other hand, some of the best games I ever saw were like 1-0 or 2-1 or 3-2. I think the NHL would be better off simply doing a better job marketing their game with the product they now have on the ice instead of constantly changing making big changes to a sport they didn't invent to begin with. If anything, the more big changes they make, the less I want to watch the NHL.
