Thank you for posting the link, Rick. As I read it, I just had to laugh. Because the reasons, and the exact same scenarios, (and I DO mean exact - beginning with that loss to the Sharks in '94, and Osgood weeping at his locker afterwards - that's what did it for ME, too), that "Justin" listed as his reasons for holding Oz as his personal favorite hockey player of all time, are the very same that have made Oz MY all-time favorite. It's funny. It's not that Ozzie doesn't have his warts. He does. God KNOWS he does. He can be downright infuriatingly bad, at times. It's not that he's particularly skilled. He's not. It's not that he has this aura of invincibility. He doesn't. It's that he has that one quality that NO amount of skill, or talent, or training, or experience, can EVER impart. Heart. Heart, with a capital "H". He's got it. Loads of it. Always has. Always will. And that commodity is more rare than, and something I would choose over, elite level talent. Every day of the week.

To give Ozzie credit when it's due would mean that they would have to destroy their unfounded view that he's "done", and they won't allow that to happen. Ozzie deserved the #1 star in the game. He deserved the win. CaliWingsNut (among others) must have been watching a completely different game than 99.999% of us here, or are just completely ignorant/mentally challeneged in hockey. Again, Forty-six ******* saves! 4. 6. 46. That's a lot of saves for any goalie, and he turned all by 3 away (only one can be completely blamed on Ozzie and that was the 2nd goal). Those that bash Ozzie in this thread are pretty much trolls. Plain and simple. Let's just ignore them and allow them to wallow in their misery/ignorance while the rest of us living in the real world can enjoy this great accomplishment!

That hit reminds me of the Domi cheapshot. That Slovak should be gone from the tourney for that cheapshot.

I wasn't sure how things would turn out after the 2nd goal. Very good to see Ozzie get it together and turn out one of the finer performances of his career which now boasts 400 wins.

So, what else is new, right? I swear, I've seen goalies win games and make spectacular saves and even get a shutout, yet someone will pipe up with "well, the saves weren't really that challenging," or "he only made 18 saves -- that was an easy win." It is never taken into account that half or more of those saves could have been a goal, with anyone else in net. Or that no NHL shutout is actually 'easy'. I missed the game (damned non-hockey watching houseguests), but assume that the three let in were more than compensated by the other 46 pucks he did stop. I am proud that the Wings did their jobs and got one more goal that the other guys. In the long run, that's all that matters. Down the road a bit, all people will remember is being there or seeing Ozzie hit the 400 milestone. Or, at least, that is what should be remembered.

First off, seeing as it was a completion of something that only 9 other players in last 93 years have done, yeah it was the performance of a lifetime. Oh yeah and he stopped 46 of 49 shots for a sv% of 93.9% - yeah pretty good game. Not to mention a few other little things like only allowing 1-7 pp to result in a goal. Yeah and he did let in about 10 shots that should have been goals but he managed to stop them. Seriously you are complaining that 7 power plays and and 49 shots resulted in 3 goals. You can say Ozzy hasn't played well lately but you are just completely insane if you are trying to argue that he wasn't incredible last night. Yeah and the rest of the team playing very poorly and giving up 49 shots. Additionally, Lids may have played great but they were without Datsyuk, Cleary, Raffy (and to a much lesser degree Modano). To say Lids had a great game and therefore it should have been easy for the team to win is silly. They were without their one player mentioned as a Hart contender this year, their hottest goal scorer (maybe tied with Mule) and their 2nd best Dman. But yeah Lids was great so it must have been an easy win. Anyway, awesome game by Ozzy, incredible achivement, and hope he continues to play like that the rest of the season. :clap:

Who said anything about me wanting to be a moderator? I'll repeat to you, there is another appropriate time and place to bag on Chris Osgood. This is not the appropriate time and place. Don't act so stupid and you won't get such a response. I know you cannot be this braindead about things on a consistent basis.

And our problem with you is that you are pissing on the party on something that has barely been accomplished in the NHL, just by 10 people now, and you do not seem to get this whatsoever. Everybody gets that one of the goals he gave up was junky. Osgood said so as well. Oh, and he made 45+ saves matching a career high and goalies typically aren't depended on, and shouldn't be depended on to make that many saves in a game. So I'd say it was an amazing performance. Now I will repeat to you. 400 wins. Very few people have accomplished this. Regardless of how Osgood did this, it is a helluva accomplishment. This thread should only be about giving him kudos for getting to 400 wins. Not about last year's junky record, not about soft goals he gave up in the playoffs in the late 90s, not about is he possibly going to be inconsistent again this year. 400 wins celebrating ONLY. Don't be an a'hole and piss on the party anymore is the point, which unforuntately you've happened to do twice. Be an a'hole in an Osgood thread where it is warranted, which isn't this thread.

I've never really liked Devorski anyway, but I'm guessing all of those penalties called on the Jackets were legitimate. I mean, hell, with how little Columbus fans know about hockey he could have had his arm up on a delayed penalty and they could have thought that was giving them the finger.

What an absurd idea. Colin Campbell's laughing right now. He should at least be warned not to do it again. As many others have said, it's completely unprofessional. If a ref makes an obscene gesture and mocks a fan, it makes the ref seem biased and lowers his credibility. Not that many NHL refs have any credibility in the first place.

I think eventually Mursak will develop into, at the very least, a 20-20 type player who kills penalties and plays physical. He's got huge upside. His AHL numbers are good, but they don't reflect his true talent. He's got great hands, a good shot, and he goes hard to the net. I expect he'll play a tick under 8 minutes tonight on debut, but I think he'll gain more faith from Babcock while he's up. If he impresses enough, I wouldn't rule out Mursak playing in the playoffs.
