...best of luck to Shawn Burr in fighting this horrible disease. It would be way too soon losing another Wing. I just want the great Detroit fans to know we are thinking about Mr. Burr and praying for a speedy recovery. God bless. -

It's okay. They'll just loan him to a Swiss team if this contract becomes a problem next season. -

As long as he continues to put up points and plays at least some defense, i'm fine. Big question is whether he will show up come playoff time. Franzen needs to get his head out of his ass and crash the net, for crying out loud. It will be interesting who will sit in the press box come playoff time. -
2 pointsAlso an overpayment, IMO.

Possible Deal With Atlanta?
Majsheppard reacted to rodeojones for a post in a topic
Agreed. Not to mention that if Hudler's depth scoring does show up over the next 20 games and into the playoffs, it would increase his value in the deal and make it more likely to see this sort of a trade in the off season. Plus, Atlanta is going to be in a storm of RFA and UFA in the off season, that may see them looking to mix some things up too. We shall see. -

Seabrook extended for 5 years at $5.8 million per year
Jett1913 reacted to Drake_Marcus for a post in a topic
Good thing Crawford's put amazing numbers up so far and has to be re-signed this summer. 14 goals and 35pts in 44 games this season. Let's chain ourselves to a 32 year old forward on the decline for another 10 seasons at 5.3 million dollars a year. -

Campbell is the bad contract there. With the raise, Chicago is paying around $275k more for Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, and Seabrook than we are for Pav, Hank, Mule, Nick, and Rafi. Both have two long-term deals. With the exception of Hossa, those guys are young and still improving. The cap is expected to go up, perhaps by a significant amount, and the $4M bonus overage they're paying this year goes away. Even if they can't get rid of Campbell, they are not really bad off. $10M + whatever cap raise to sign 10-12 players, mostly bottom line players who should cost under $1M. If they could somehow dump Campbell, they'd actually be in pretty good shape. -

I compare Seabrook to Stuart. I think they are both equal quality defencemen at what they do, but Stuart is a much better bargain. Would you agree Stuart =/= Seabrook? -

At the time, $6m was a bargain price for him. He was a marquee offensive defenseman. Also, while he may not bring to the ice the defensive skills that Seabrook has, his offensive skills are far greater than those of Seabrook. -

Big, young, RH, shutdown defenseman. Plays in all situations. Hits. Blocks shots. Has performed well in the playoffs. Should still be improving. I wouldn't call it a bargain, but it's not overpayment either. -

The kid scores the game winning goal with less than a minute left then he ices the cake in the shoot-out and you still s*** on him. If we're going to talk about missed shots pissing people off please review Franzen's tape from the last dozen games or so. I can't frigging wait for him to regain his scoring touch! The man refuses to cut inside and rush the net right now! Doesn't he remember how many goals he's scored that way?!? -

datsyuk is the kid on everyone's junior team that is way better than everyone else and brings up their level. we all had those kids on our teams - its just odd to see someone so much talented than everyone else in professional sports - hes making space and looks for huds. Just thought id mention - how many consecutive offsides did huds have at the end there? 3? i know hes slow, so he didn't want to lose any of his hard earned speed entering the zone lol. those offsides were boneheaded. the goal at the end i admit was a good choice to go to the net, but still, anyone on this team would have buried that one. he didn't have that awesome of a game. and he missed on a breakaway off a dirty tape to tape pass from dats. oh ya, and his SO goal was pretty gutless too. off the post off miller and in. -

Red Wings Won't be Active at Trade Deadline
One4TheWings reacted to newfy for a post in a topic
The blackhawks had just got beaten out of the western conference finals and added Hossa at the start of the season. They were a young and hungry team. The wings are full of guys with big contracts that have all pretty much won a cup, adding some fresh blood wouldn't be awful, espcially when the wings have been getting exposed on the defensive side of the game -
1 pointI don't like any line that has Bert and Modano together. Both float too much to be paired up. esteef

1 pointDatsyuk gets mad love. There was a poll this season that asked Russians, who they think is the best Russian hockey player, and Datsyuk won by a large margin.
