Pavel Datsyuk. Class personified. Nick and Gordie Howe come close, but Pasha has more class in his toenails than 99.9% of the league.

Where should I start? 1. DRASTICALLY overpaid (by a lot more than 1.5m) 2. Has 3 YEARS left on said overpaid deal AND a NTC 3. Has been injured and missed almost a quarter of the season the last 2 years 4. in-division/in-conference trade 5. Specifically trading to the Hawks 6. ANOTHER left handed shot

I'd trade Hudler and a 2 cases of Vernors to the Atlanta Predators just for the rights to Weber (does it work that way?). Remember, Weber was Lidstroms first overall pick in the All Star Game. Weren't they like a plus 25 or something combined?!! After himself, HE STARTED HIS FRIKIN TEAM WITH SHEA WEBER!

    Hudler's Future

For f**k's sake eva unit zero, you got to stop this s**t. Explaining it another way is simple. YOU HAVE HUDLER BIAS. Give it a fricken' rest. Franzen has more defensive potential than Hudler, you'll rarely see Hudler in there at the end of a game if the team is leading. You'll see Franzen over Hudler 99 times out of 100. You don't see Hudler play 4-on-4. You see Franzen play 4-on-4. YOU may claim or YOU may say he is a good defensive forward or above average or whatever, but coaches and people making the decisions think otherwise. I will repeat... YOU HAVE HUDLER BIAS in levels beyond unimaginable and annoying and you will not shut up about it. I like Hudler, it's cool that you like him, but seeing your absurd bias with him makes me want to (1) strangle you until you are temporarily unconscious and (2) see him not do well and not be here so there might come a time where you might actually shut up about him. I. DO. NOT. CARE. THAT. BADLY. about you trying to prove that Hudler is better than he is or that Franzen was worse or that Hudler is better than Franzen or whatever numbers or stats you pull out of your rear end. And I think it's a safe bet plenty of other people in here share some of the same thought. When it comes to letting things go regarding this, you have the I.Q. of a deck chair. For the love of god and everything good and holy, give it a fricken' rest.

I had nothing to do with this, but it's awesome.

This could quite possibly be the worst idea I have ever seen on LGW.

I'm shocked by this Brian Campbell idea... Couple of things... - He has a $7.1 million cap hit until the 2015-2016 season, that is 5 years not 3, with a NTC. - His cap hit would make him the highest paid played on the team. - He scored 5 points during the Blackhawks cup run, in 19 games. Brent Sopel scored 6. - Rafalski has consistently outscored him each season with no friggan ligaments in his knee. - Campbell's career year doesn't even top Rafalski's seasons at age 34, 35, and 36. I don't even want to go on but the idea is bad, bad, bad. We need to dump Hudler yes, but this is not the solution. Having Hudler back next season would be a better option. Hoping for Hudler to return to form (2008) or possibly even reach a higher potential is a smarter move than pushing the panic switch, and helping out our division rivals. This trade does not help the wings. They will have better options. If trading is the way to bring in an elite puck moving defensemen, lets shoot higher and use Filppula as bait. Hudler would be better used as a salary dump to move up in the draft then in a package for an drastically overpaid player.

Someone's got the news about Atlanta and Winnipeg on his mind.. Haha As has been said many times here and in the media - Nashville will probably mortgage the farm to match any offers and keep Weber.

no, someone else in this thread suggested it and I think you're both clearly smoking something... it would be a HORRIBLE trade...

Bieksa's good and all, but not as a top 2 defenseman on the Wings. That is what we need right now. Bieksa would be a good role player on this team but that's not what we need at the moment.

Hopefully he steers clear of stand-up comedy after his retirement. Those openers were super cheesy hahaha.

Instead of Bogosian... What would you guys think of Tobias Enstrom? An established, 50+ point scoring, puck-moving defenseman. Atlanta's rebuilding, so maybe there's a deal to be had there.

    Changes in the offseason

Trading Hudler for Nabokov is stupid, let's get that out of the way. We would be trading a top-six forward in his 20s who is simply held down by the depth of the Wings' system for a good backup. And then you replace Hudler with Sturm, who isn't even as good. How about just signing Brian Boucher? Then, EVERYONE involved is younger on the Wings. You've also replaced Filppula with Laich, which isn't going to happen. And your additions on defense are not thought out well. By adding Wisniewski and Green, you've added two defensemen who are one-dimensional offensive players. And then you've placed them on the same pairing; hello goals against. Green also isn't a free agent until after next season, and he is an RFA then. Beyond that, you've erased Jakub Kindl from the lineup to sit Brendan Smith in the press box when he could be getting top-pairing minutes in Grand Rapids. If that's supposed to be a trade, it isn't even close to happening. So let's retool here. Replace Green with Joni Pitkanen. Kindl is the 7th, not Smith. As for goaltending, Osgood may be coming back, so that's easy. If not, Brian Boucher. That's easy too. Both are proven vets in the regular season and playoffs. Or there are guys like Theodore, Auld, or Hedberg. Now what do we have? Hudler/Zetterberg/Cleary Filppula/Datsyuk/Holmstrom Franzen/Abdelkader/Bertuzzi Mursak/Helm/Eaves Miller/Emmerton Lidstrom/Wisniewski Kronwall/Stuart Ehrhoff/Pitkanen Kindl Howard Osgood (Boucher) That roster is a bit better, don't you think?

I love the verse he used. I was expecting Jeremiah 29:11, but Romans 8:28 is great too. Such a normal and down to earth guy. And I'll always remember the time when he body slammed Lee Stempniak I'll definitely miss him. Good luck and God bless, Raffy!

They don't come classier than Rafalski. That was an incredibly gracious announcement, refreshing to hear from a professional athlete. It's a bit sad to see him go, but I'm going to take his advice and be happy for him. He really loves his family and now he'll have a lot more time for them. He had a great career, and I'm glad he was able to play for the Wings and help us win a Cup.

Well he damn well better sign someone in the "first wave" He is losing his #2 defense-man from last season, you cannot make that up by adding 2 or 3 "fifth wave" players.... Holland HAS to land a legit top 2 d-man PLUS fill two other spots on D. All we have under contract is Kronner, Stuart and Kindl.... Smith is not coming up. He needs to get Lids signed (if he is signing) and then get three more starters because Kindl is not ready, even if he was, Holland would still need TWO more, ONE being Rafalski's replacement. He's got $25M in cash (if the cap goes up to $64M) and he better spend it! In the FIRST WAVE... Are you listening Holland?
