Pavel Datsyuk. Class personified. Nick and Gordie Howe come close, but Pasha has more class in his toenails than 99.9% of the league. -

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
Jasper84 and one other reacted to stevkrause for a post in a topic
Where should I start? 1. DRASTICALLY overpaid (by a lot more than 1.5m) 2. Has 3 YEARS left on said overpaid deal AND a NTC 3. Has been injured and missed almost a quarter of the season the last 2 years 4. in-division/in-conference trade 5. Specifically trading to the Hawks 6. ANOTHER left handed shot -

I'd trade Hudler and a 2 cases of Vernors to the Atlanta Predators just for the rights to Weber (does it work that way?). Remember, Weber was Lidstroms first overall pick in the All Star Game. Weren't they like a plus 25 or something combined?!! After himself, HE STARTED HIS FRIKIN TEAM WITH SHEA WEBER! -

Hudler's Future
VikingMark and one other reacted to SouthernWingsFan for a post in a topic
For f**k's sake eva unit zero, you got to stop this s**t. Explaining it another way is simple. YOU HAVE HUDLER BIAS. Give it a fricken' rest. Franzen has more defensive potential than Hudler, you'll rarely see Hudler in there at the end of a game if the team is leading. You'll see Franzen over Hudler 99 times out of 100. You don't see Hudler play 4-on-4. You see Franzen play 4-on-4. YOU may claim or YOU may say he is a good defensive forward or above average or whatever, but coaches and people making the decisions think otherwise. I will repeat... YOU HAVE HUDLER BIAS in levels beyond unimaginable and annoying and you will not shut up about it. I like Hudler, it's cool that you like him, but seeing your absurd bias with him makes me want to (1) strangle you until you are temporarily unconscious and (2) see him not do well and not be here so there might come a time where you might actually shut up about him. I. DO. NOT. CARE. THAT. BADLY. about you trying to prove that Hudler is better than he is or that Franzen was worse or that Hudler is better than Franzen or whatever numbers or stats you pull out of your rear end. And I think it's a safe bet plenty of other people in here share some of the same thought. When it comes to letting things go regarding this, you have the I.Q. of a deck chair. For the love of god and everything good and holy, give it a fricken' rest. -

1 pointI'm shocked by this Brian Campbell idea... Couple of things... - He has a $7.1 million cap hit until the 2015-2016 season, that is 5 years not 3, with a NTC. - His cap hit would make him the highest paid played on the team. - He scored 5 points during the Blackhawks cup run, in 19 games. Brent Sopel scored 6. - Rafalski has consistently outscored him each season with no friggan ligaments in his knee. - Campbell's career year doesn't even top Rafalski's seasons at age 34, 35, and 36. I don't even want to go on but the idea is bad, bad, bad. We need to dump Hudler yes, but this is not the solution. Having Hudler back next season would be a better option. Hoping for Hudler to return to form (2008) or possibly even reach a higher potential is a smarter move than pushing the panic switch, and helping out our division rivals. This trade does not help the wings. They will have better options. If trading is the way to bring in an elite puck moving defensemen, lets shoot higher and use Filppula as bait. Hudler would be better used as a salary dump to move up in the draft then in a package for an drastically overpaid player.

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
T-Ruff reacted to Datsyerberger for a post in a topic
He's not even overpaid. Unless Rafalski was in 07-08, because that's what his contract is comparable to. If Rafalski was overpaid then and we won a cup, then let's overpay some more players. Of course, many posters here don't understand that cap number isn't the real figure that matters, the percentage of cap space a contract occupies is. Rafalski's cap hit in 07-08 as a matter of percentage: 10.7% Campbell's contract under a $63m cap hit: 11.2% 0.5% difference, equal to $315,000 under the current cap. If the cap rises $4m in the next 2 years (a rise well under average for a 2 year span since the cap's institution), Campbell's contract would equal 10.6% of our cap hit at the same age Rafalski joined the Wings and occupied 10.7% of the cap. And Campbell's contract carries him to the same age at which Rafalski retired--actually, I think a year younger(while putting up 48 points in 63 games, mind). Given that they're close in skill sets, Campbell fills a hole at a much lower asset price than alternatives and a roughly equal cap price over the course of his contract. He's not my #1 option by any means, but he'd probably be the easiest to acquire for the relative talent level. Hudler and a pick/prospect probably gets that done if Bowman has any intentions of moving Campbell for cap space (and they need cap space, and they're paying a d-man for a level of play that doesn't fit the role on their team...) Main downside is he's a lefty shot, but we can still pick up a 2nd pair quality righty shot gritty guy... you know, the sort available in FA right now. And sorry guys, but conference/division doesn't have near the impact it does on trades in the post-cap world as compared to pre-cap. Plenty of big in-division deals have gone down post-cap. -

Bieksa would be perfect here... physical, defensively solid and has a good shot... now, anything over 4m, and he's probably not worth it, but to say he's not what we need is wrong... -

Dude, I don't even know how to respond to you. No offense, but are you high on crack right now? Maybe come back and post when you sober up and make some sense. Either that or your reading comprehesion is severely lacking. I never had any attitude. I never fought anyone, nor did I wish to. I simply said, had this happened 10 years ago, I would have after being assualted. But now that I am older, I walked away instead. How that translates to you accusing me of having an attitude at the game and bringing it on myself is beyond me. I was just relaying my one and only experience there. I made it VERY clear it could have been a fluke, and also made it VERY clear that that was just MY experience. I honestly don't know why you are so butthurt over me posting my experience, or the fact that you, even after me explaining that I had no attitude and was simply there as a fan watching a game, keep claiming I deserved to get assaulted and brought it on myself, when that was definitely NOT the case. If I was "asking for a fight" (apparantly by simply being there in your mind) then why didn't I stay around to fight? Why did Imaintain my cool and leave instead of fighting? Seriously....put the crack pipe down. I also think its funny I get negged by multiple people simply for posting my experience as it happened. I guess only lovey dovey "the sharks fans are teh bestest evar, and I looove them" are the only posts people here want to see. What, is this site filled with nothing but tree huggin hippies or something? f*** the Sharks and f*** their fans too. So go ahead and neg my now babies! -

One of the league's best defensemen. Would love to have him. He is about as close to Lidstrom as you'll find in the NHL. Excellent two-way defenseman who plays positional defense rather than physical defense. If we can get him, he'd be about the perfect replacement for Nick because he's basically a copy of Nick, only not quite as good. -

Bogo could be had for a reasonable price, since it would just be trading for rights... we REALLY do need at LEAST 1 more right handed dman though, it he trades for Bogo and signs Bieksa, I'd be ok with that for the off-season... I still want to see them sign Bieksa and Montador(a more modest contract and fills the bottom pairing need) and really hit FA hard next year when we most likely will need a true number 1 d-man or decide on going by committee... *cough* Brent Burns *cough*... also keep in mind, we will need to re-sign Kronwall and Stuart next year (2012) There's not much out there in trade market for d-men either right now... sign Bieksa and Montador, give Kindl an everyday spot and some PP time and call it a day... If Ericsson thinks he deserves more than 2m, he can walk... -

Huh? What attitude? I was there with absolutely no negative attitude at all and was there to simply enjoy a hockey game. Even when beer was thrown at me, I was physically assaulted and harrased, I had no attitude, maintained my cool, and shrugged it off and simply left. If that is asking for a fight, then you just confimed my experience and how common it likely is, and that San Jose fans are complete assholes and view a rival fan simply coming to their arena to watch a game as "asking for a fight". -

And... so was the rest of the damn team. Name one player that didn't have an above average series against Phoenix. I mean, Salei even notched a goal and looked good. B-B-B-But Hudler had that stretch back in December where he was Christ in hockey skates, right? We are provided nothing from you b-b-b-but Hudler love, stop. -

Lol @ judging a fanbase based on kids on internet forums. Go to a Wings/Sharks game next season Cali wearing your Wings jersey and see how "friendly" the sharks fans really are. Oh, and bring some of your crew, as those "friendly" folks will try to physically attack you as well as throw beers and s*** at you for wearing your Wings jersey there and cheering for your team. While I haven't been to every arena, in the ones I have, I have never experienced such assholes as those sharks "fans". I'm just glad I went there somewhat recently, now that I'm older, calmer, and more pacifistic, as if that s*** had happened to me 10 years ago, I wouldn't have had the strength to try to brush it off, and there probably would have been one guy in prison (me) and several severely injured sharks "fans". Maybe it was a fluke or something, but that experience is burned in my mind and my opinion of those fans is cemented. Thats just one guys experience though, yours may vary... -
