Silly knowledgeably-disabled fan. Red Wings Attendances over the last 10 seasons (% full): 10-11: 98.1% 09-10: 97.4 08-09: 99% 07-08: 94% 06-07: 100% 05-06: 100% 03-04: 100% 02-03: 99.8% 01-02: 99.9% 00-01: 97.5% Our attendance is fine. Plus, I never said anything about attendance, I said the fact the city wouldn't build a new NHL arena but would build a new state-of-the-art minor league hockey arena was silly. If you're going to try and make a condescending argument, at least make a good one

Hudler for Wolski? At the very least it would improve our shootout record. Speaking of shootout specialists, isn't Jussi Jokinen a FA too, what about him as a top 6 scoring winger?

    Atlanta Thrashers move to Winnipeg

Also, it's pretty well known that Winnipeg's problems stemmed from corporate support, not fan support. The fans there are fine and will support the franchise well.

And this guy thought the world was ending a couple weeks ago: Sometimes people just say thing to say things. Case in point, a professional athlete always says they'd love to re-sign in a place they are miserable at to come out looking good. A coach will always say they need a top six forward and a top 4 DMan. We finished 4th in scoring during the post season season and second in the regular season. We are fine offensively.I'm also banking on the fact that Hudler can't possibly suck as bad as he did last season for this coming season lol. Put all that cap space in defense and let's win another 'ship?

If we move Hudler we can sign him for as much as he could get elsewhere. I was searching around on Richards, Toronto Sun. I think NYR, TB , LA and probably Carolina. Maybe Kenny will work his 'Hossa' Magic on Richards. I will laugh it that happens, and end up wining the cup.

Well...they did lose their team already. The city didn't want a new arena for the Jets, but they were more than happy to help fund an arena for a minor league team in the area. That doesn't scream passion to me.

You're smart enough to know the difference between the Kovulchuk and Zetterberg/Franzen deals. The GMs agreed to the suspension, not the last minute Crosby clause handed down by Bettman, while on a phone call with Crosby and Shero. Revenues have grown, but lagged behind all major sports leagues in N. America and numerous non-major sports. He allowed the game of hockey to deteriate to such a degree that the #1 sports network in N. America would rather air bowling and poker over hockey. He alienates the fan base of the NHL in favor of attracting new fans in new markets. Bettman can't even win his personal vendetta against dead, boiled cephalopods. And I would say he has a weasel face, not a rat face. Sorry for the derail, but I thought those were some pretty blanket statements that at least deserved a quick riposte.

    Jonathan Ericsson's Value?

I know. It's staggering that Babcock would keep putting him out there almost 19 minutes a night, when Ericsson is singlehandedly responsible for giving up a goal in every single game.

    Atlanta Thrashers move to Winnipeg

To all the young punks who think my NHLPA'93 on the Sega Genesis is outdated-you guys look really foolish now as your new games have the Thrashers while mine has a Winnipeg team.

I have always been screaming the West is better than the East, and we should play with the big boys. Yet many on here seem to think otherwise.

    Hudler's Future

So, Jiri, let's be honest for a second... 2010-11: 10 goals, 27 assists, 37 points. Good enough for 253rd, 129th, and 189th. 2008-09: 23 goals, 34 assists, 57 points. Good enough for 79th, 82nd and 78th. 2007-08: 13 goals, 29 assists, 42 points. Good enough for 186th, 117th and 137th. Cleary scored as many points in 18 fewer games. 2006-07: 15 goals, 10 assists, 25 points. Good enough for 179th, 420th and 302nd. Jason "Lazy and Sucks" Williams had as many goals. So, Mr. Great Playmaker, riddle me this. How exactly does "great playmaker" and a best year of right around 80th in the league work? How exactly is this "great playmaker" not ringing up assists left and right? How is it that a "great playmaker" is dead last in +/-, despite playing against other teams' third and fourth lines?

    Changes in the offseason

Mike Green is HORRIBLE defensively. I trust Fil better to play D than him. Just letting you all know that such a trade would make us a worse team than we were last year. Here are my steps that I would take. 1. inquire about the cost of a trade for Bogosian in the week of trading before free agency begins. If you can make a trade using Hudler, Emmerton, and the rights to Ericsson and no other players but whatever picks... Do it. Success chance 10% 2. Failing that you feel out whatever offers there is for Hudler, but do not rush to make a deal. 3. Dawn of free agency you immediately offer Weber a one year offer sheet for the maximum affordable amount for us. If possible make it the maximum cap amount. This forces Nashville to match it and screw up their cap, ensuring that next year Suter and/or Weber will be free agents. If they refuse to match it, Weber comes here and we lose first round picks, which really don't mean that much to us anyways. Our Defense is fixed and no additional moves are necessary on the backend. Success chance 5% 4.Failing that make an offer sheet for Yandle for whatever amount you are willing to pay him. Phoenix will most likely match. Success chance 20% 5. Failing that, go after the following players in this order and do so aggressively a. Pitkanen Success chance 30% b. James Wisniewski or Bieksa Success chance 35%/20% c. Andy Greene Success chance 50% Make sure you get one of the first three and Andy Greene (provided Ericsson is gone) Andy Greene is a poor mans Rafalski but without the right handed shot. I think he might be one of the most underrated signings of this offseason. Also I would be willing to sign all four, if an additional move would be made following those signings. The idea there would be to have a more deep puck moving core, similar to what Pit did this past season. Less top heavy. Stuart would have to be moved subsequently to make it cap friendly. 6. add one value forward if needed. 7. Get a backup goaltender, I would be fine with Osgood or Larsson myself.

    Changes in the offseason

This is a statement that is made anytime we talk about how we need to get younger. Is he overpaid now? Yes. Was he overpaid at the time of his signing? Maybe slightly. Would he get six million if we re-signed him next year? Not a chance. Are we going to re-sign him? Probably not. Is he going to get traded? No. NEXT.

    Changes in the offseason

Can't argue with that. This team has wen't to the WQF back-to-back and could easily advanced to the WCF had Zetterberg been game-ready and healthy to start the Shark series and had Cleary and Bertuzzi didn't get injured. Only tiny changes need to be made. Salei out, Draper gets pay decrease, Modano gone/replaced. Helm, Abdelkader, Ericsson, Kronwall, Hudler all got another years worth of PO experience. If this team stays healthy, they'll make the WCF next year. No doubt in my mind.

Unfortunately I don't have anything done fitting the latest topics, but I just wanted to dust off some old ones. (I've got nothing against Crosby, this was actually inspired by the numerous Crosby threads here)
