    Congrats to Timmy Thomas

Ok so it wasn't the Wings, but we got treated to some fantastic goaltending by Tim Thomas. As a hockey fan, it was a joy watching him in the finals. As a Michigan native, also from the Flint area, I can't help but have a special appreciation for this guy. And he'll cap it off next week with a well deserved Vezina.

Honest question, what did the Canucks ever do to the Wings to make them so hated here on these forums? Pretty much everyone I've talked to in Vancouver has a ton of respect for the Red Wings and their organization (great, classy players; fantastic management). Even our own GM said they want to model Vancouver's franchise based on the way the Red Wings are run. We don't really have any playoff rivalry, nor can I think of any incident a Canuck has done to a Red Wing to garner such hatred.. am I missing something? I'm personally a big fan of the Wings and always root for them when the Canucks are out of the playoffs; but reading the forums here makes me want to dislike the Wings because you hate us so much. (probably a very illogical feeling but likely a natural reaction)

    Congrats to Timmy Thomas

It was great to see Tim win the Conn Smythe and the Cup!! He definetly deserves it. I'm thrilled the Bruins won the Cup there is at least 3 players on th Bruins that has a Michigan Connection. Tim Thomas being From Flint Michigan. Mark Recchi played for the old Muskegon Lumberjacks in the old IHL and Chris Kelly played for the Muskegon Fury in the UHL so it was definetly great to see all of them get the Cup. Nice work Timmy Thomas and the Boston Bruins Congrats!!

    Changes in the offseason

That article has a whole lot I like to read. First of all, when saying potential buyouts... Davvid Clarkson. If he gets bought out I could see Kenny going for him because he can play and fight, that is exactly what babcock wants on his team. Because of the buy out he would have some money giong towards him so he would probably be able to be had on the cheaper siide of things. If he is up for trade send Hudler for Clarksonn and a 5th rounder or something, that would help toughen up our third line. Erik Cole and Pitkanen are also having trouble in negotiation with the Canes. Cole is a guy I would like the wings to take a flyer on to add some scoring depth. He put up 50 points last year, hits A LOT, and has top notch speed to add to the top 6. Having a physical presence with speed in the top 6 would help this team out. Adding Pitkanen could help ease the loss of Rafalski. I also didnt mind seeing it noted that Osgood and Drapes might not be back, its time to move on

Easiest Conn Smythe pick since Zetterberg, if not farther back. He was absolutely lights out, and is well deserving of the playoff MVP nod. 8 goals in the final 8 games? Unbelievable. Congrats to Tim!

Well done, Timmy! Scratch that - awesomely done! I love a comeback story and I love a kick-some-ass story, so to have the two combined is pretty sweet, and it couldn't happen to a cooler guy. Congrats on the Cup and the Conn Smythe - enjoy!

    Congrats to Timmy Thomas

Since it wasn't the Wings' year, I'm stoked to see the Cup go to an Original 6 team, and the MVP to a Michigan boy. This is just about the second best outcome I could've hoped for. Congrats, Mr. Thomas.

Up until the Finals I expected the Canucks to roll and was pretty all right with it. After the complaining, the guarantees, and Luongo going after Thomas - I was thrilled to see them lose Game 7.

Why commit to a backup who may not even play the full year, let alone put out a consistent performance for the team?

    Congrats to Timmy Thomas

Honestly, I could only be happier if he won it for the Wings. Great finals, great guy. Not like those Vancouver fans... morons rioting now and throwing things. This whole series was about the classier people getting rewarded, and that is what I love in sports.

No kidding, talk about a late bloomer. But he's awesome and dominant and I don't know anyone who dislikes the guy.

Where did this guy come from? Totally off the radar until a few years ago. As dominate as Roy and Hasek were in their day. Let's hope he can put a few more years in and collect some more hardware.

Babcock Interview + Jagr to Detroit Rumor

Jagr would be our best winger next to Mule. You guys obviously didn't see him in the world games a month or so ago.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a really bad idea? I can't think of any good reason for any successful team, such as Dallas or Tampa Bay, in the region to do it. As for the struggling teams in the South? Why take a step back when your brand is already struggling as it is? The key here is to build an identity, and that does not happen over night. Rebranding doesn't really mean squat if the organization sucks, so why waste the energy. That said, I would love to see the Ducks change their name. It's better than Might Ducks, but that's really not saying much. Unfortunately, they have been successful with that name, so you can bet the farm that's not happening. In reading this post, I am reminded of when this occurred in the NBA in 1997. It resulted in the Bullets being renamed the Washington Wizards, another reason I think this is a bad idea.

24 year old with Asperger's Syndrome. Close enough. f*** tact, give me 'fact'. Already had a good idea of the attendance figures, hence my estimation in the 1st post. 2nd post I used a bookmarked site to verify my numbers (most of which I keep track of fairly well mentally, go go gadget Aspergers). Guess I'm used to slapping people around with figures when they make (poor) assumptions. Indeed. I acknowledged that Anaheim has had more stable ownership. On-ice product has been roughly equal in a 10 year span. Off-ice product has favored Tampa Bay (though they're also in a better market). They also have much less of an identity crisis.

    James Wisniewski

Hmmmm. You don't say. Most high school students are ******-bags in their own way. Just like I refuse to hold the fact that he's been traded several times against him, I refuse to hold his high-school douchebaggery against him. Now if you think that what he did in high school might translate to his behavior in the locker-room... Searching ye olde' interwebs there is very little to report about his locker-room presence other than speculation and opinion by various bloggers. He was supposedly a very good teammate in Chicago and did not want to leave there. He enjoyed his time with Anaheim and was happy that he got a deal done, only to be traded to the Islanders. It's obvious that he never wanted to be traded to the Isle, but while he was there he was a seemingly good teammate. Snow is Snow. So, who knows why he wasn't kept around longer. I think it was mainly the fear of his impending paycheck. Montreal is unlikely to re-sign him for that very reason as well. I still think what he brings to the table in the way of hockey play is exactly what this club could use if the price is right. He hates that he's never played for the Wings. ...and yes, stranger things have happened. Hossa.

Troll? I said I'm a fan of the Wings players *and* the organization that runs them. THE model franchise of the NHL. In contention every year, builds their team through the draft and developing them through their farm system, and not by buying players/overpaying at the deadline. If that makes me a troll, I guess I am one.
