Bold predictions for the year!

Don't forget that one game where the Mule scored 5 goals. Using that game as a sample size, he is projected to get about 410 goals a season, which seems pretty reasonable to me. He wasn't even on a line with Datsyuk that game! Imagine if he was, I think he could easily have a 1000 goal season. Edit: Finishing second in points behind Hudler, naturally. -

I think we should all take note on how money and playing a game for a living doesn't stop depression. I know most of us could not comprehend killing yourself when you were to make 700k for playing hockey for the year. I most likely wouldn't make 700k in my lifetime if the economy doesn't improve, but apparently he was more likely to kill himself... I think this is a good lesson in priorities. Take care of your relationships and family, it is far more important than some money. -

Maltby was a total ******. The only thing was that he was OUR ******, and we loved him. He was always stirring s***, being a pest, running his mouth, but never actually backed his words by dropping his gloves. I love Maltby, but to say he wasn't a ****** is a dis-service to his career of douchebaggery. -

I wanted to get back to you guys and say thanks. I thought I hit "post" before on my earlier thank you. I guess it didn't go through... Anyways I enjoyed my third trip to GR and the websites you suggested made for an enjoyable trip. Thanks a bunch. -
1 pointI still can't believe the Wings picked Primeau right before Jagr. Grrrrrr...... And just to take it to ridiculous lengths of "what-ifs" the Wings came close to having during the 90s: Gretzky Yzerman Jagr Kozlov* Fedorov Bure Who cares Lidstrom Bourque Konstantinov* Roy Osgood * Without car accidents - Kozlov was incredibly hyped before his.

Suicide is especially tragic because it is completely preventable. Unfortunately, much of society everywhere lacks an appreciation of how real and how dangerous depression can be. -

Brunnström to try out for Wings
James021 reacted to eva unit zero for a post in a topic
From Feb. 7th to Feb 28th, it was Hudler/Datsyuk/Cleary for 11 games. Here are the stats: Hudler 4g-10a-14pt, +7 Datsyuk 7g-5a-12pt, +6 Cleary 6g-6a-12pt, +5 Yep, not deadly at all. I certainly wouldn't want a line that posts that kind of numbers all year, plus the ability to dress Z, Franzen, and Filppula elsewhere in the lineup. Hudler posting 37 is a low year, and he has been soundly criticized by just about everyone fot it. Brunnstrom posting 20 would be increasing his career total by 50%, after having only posted 35 points in 72 games in the AHL last year. By comparison, Cory Emmerton missed time injured, spent time in the NHL, and still posted 38 points in 65 games last year. He's also three years younger. So why would we keep Brunnstrom over Emmerton unless Fabio... err, Fabian, is some kind of wunderkind in training camp who will end up posting like 50 or 60 points this season? -

The Wings have won 13 Prince of Wales trophies and 6 Campbell bowls. The Flyers have 4 and 6, and the Blackhawks 2 and 5, respectively. Franzen's career high is 59 and he has only cleared 50 points one other time in his career, being last season. Given his age, injury history, and performance over the past couple of years I would call 50 points a "good" season. A "bad" season based on his past couple years would be 25 or 30 points. Of course this is LGW, where Franzen is expected to put up *another* 40 goal season, despite never having done it before. Also, if you are saying Smith beats out Commodore for the 7th defenseman, he's still in the press box. Which keeps him in Grand Rapids. So I'm going to assume you meant the #6 spot. And given the roles on the team, it's likely Smith would also have to beat out Ericsson or White for time to make the jump directly into the lineup this year. -

year full of injuries again -
-1 pointsI like the full penalty duration. I like no touch icing variation. If the defender is winning by the faceoff dot whistle, otherwise let it continue. I like the yellow line in the net. I like the new camera in the net. I would want more clarification on the bit about goalies covering the puck outside the crease. Thinner nets I would consider.

Who the Wings Targeted in UFA
Uncle Danny reacted to eva unit zero for a post in a topic
I was definitely a fan of bringing Smith in. I'd have preferred him over Conklin. Smith is better than Conks and has plenty of potential. If he plays to his best, even just based on past performance, he could take the job away from Howard. Fleischmann would have cost far beyond what he would have brought for the Wings, Upshall would have been good for the Wings, and Theodore would have been meh. Wiz would have been an excellent pickup at a reasonable price. He brings everything White brings, but he has a higher level of offense which would have replaced the loss of Rafalski's production. He also would have been a definite upgrade over Ericsson in every possible respect in the lineup. -

Franzen has scored 72 goals and 135 points in 174 games over the past three seasons. That's an average of 24 goals and 21 assists in 58 games each season. Or, for an 82 game season, it works out to 34 goals and 30 assists. But over his six seasons, Franzen has played 395 games, an average of 66 games. He's in his early 30s and is fairly injury prone, he is very streaky, and his work ethic on the defensive side of the puck is worse than any other player on the team; this is particularly sad given the fact that he started his career as a defensive center.
