My first game was in 1979 at The Joe when the re-hung Gordies number in the rafters. Been a fan since i was 9 and have stuck with them through the lean,years as well as the last 20. That is why i get so passionate sometimes. But honestly, ya, they could still win friday, but its gonna be hard as Nashville will be gunning for our spot. Without Z its gonna be even harder.....

Congrats to the Preds on winning the Cup. They deserved it. They played so well I don't even recall what happened. I wonder if Suter and Weber will stay now that they have both become Stanley Cup champions. So what does everyone think Kenny needs to do this off season to be able to dethrone the Preds as Cup champs? It's going to be tough. I heard that Carrie Underwood is going to sing We are the Champions on American Idol next week with Mike Fisher. That should be good. We can al learn from the Stanley Cup champion Nashville Predators.

unlike a lot of people here, I don't think Conklin has been as bad as his numbers suggest. I've watched every game and seen how many goals against him were the result of shoddy defensive play, or flukey goals going in off defenders sticks, skates, etc. Having said that, Joey has been better and earned the job...kudos to him, he was good last year as well.

Except Ericsson isn't continuing to play bad. In fact, he's been quite solid back there. He has his brain cramps like most dman have... but overall, he's been fine, and definitely not been the 'problem'. Smith has shown glimpses of greatness, but as we watched in his last game(?) on the Red Wings is his ability to feed the other team free goals. Of course, I see him learning to make better decisions in the future, but right now, to Red Wings standards, he's not ready to crack the roster... yet. Let him play in GR and hone his game. In every loss I can point to one player that made a stupid play that cost us a goal. From Zetterberg's giveaway in the Boston game (which we won in SO), to Howards softy in last night's game to the Blues, but to me, Ericsson is the least of the problems. This team, overall, isn't playing with the spark we saw in 2007, 08, and 09. Unless one can argue Lebda and Lilja were game changers, stop blaming Ericsson.

Yeah, Kindl is improving rapidly and Kubina is pretty much done. I wouldn't make that trade unless they are getting back at least a second round pick as well.

I'm not sure where exactly Eaves got hit, and if this would have even made a difference for him, but the fact that it's been quoted as a head injury, I'm gonna say this: As cool as hockey helmets are, and as much as i like them, the time has come to upgrade them with a major overhaul. With the increased speed of the game, the increased size and strength of the players, the increased velocity of the average player's slapshot, and the increased knowledge of long term brain effects of sudden impact, the hockey player needs similar protection as the rally car/motorcycle driver. It can be designed in such a way with the classic body lines of a hockey helmet so as to resemble the overall shape, but it's got to be beefed up. Why is this never talked about by any of hockey's talking heads?

I agree, actually. It's not like he's eating up loads of salary and we're close to the cap. He's made the odd mistake, but so has everyone else this year. Especially on D. I wouldn't be getting mad at him for costing the odd goal every now and then, I'd get mad at the Bertuzzi's, Hudler's, Abdelkader's and Zetterberg's for having an impressive 11 goals combined between them in 97 combined games played. I'm also not that high on Emmerton and his offensive contributions, but as 4th liner rookie I'll let it slide for now.
