    Tomas Holmstrom's fate

I think polls like that are terrible. It's one thing to sit here and discuss it amongst ourselves, but to have a public poll asking if someone else should be forced out is insensitive. I realize he's a hockey player and he takes as much abuse as anyone in the rink, and then some, but the subject of outliving your usefulness is a touchy one. It is a call that should be decided between him, his team, his family, and the management, and then brought to the fans. Let him go out publicly with the honour and dignity he has earned, not with faceless people slamming the door behind him from their keyboards. I realize a lot of people who took part in that poll are too young to have faced the point in their life when they have to face up to the fact that they are no longer capable of carrying their weight, but trust me on this one, it is a huge blow to one's pride.

    Playoff seeding & Divison winners

Remove the automatic seeding of division winners. Period. Stupid rule. You can have your division winner banner all you want, but being the best team in the worst division shouldn't automatically give you home ice over a better team, no matter what the logic is.

    Tomas Holmstrom's fate

Yes, of course bring him back ... and put him into the front office for a cushy job like Ozzie and Draper.

We (puckloo39, Chelischick and me) will be at the game, row 14 behind the bench. We're meeting up with Kira and her husband and Jenny and Casey at Hockeytown Cafe after the game...stop by and find us if you want. I really hope we play like we want this because Friday to me was a must win to secure a good spot and they played flat. Go Wings!!!

    Luke Schenn

Luke Schenn will definitely be on the trade market this offseason, and with Stuart leaving does anyone think he cuold be a good trade target? Hes still really young, one of the most physical blueliners in the league and could develop into an Adam Foote type player. He looks brutal in Toronto so his value might be lower than one would expect. I think he could turn out well in Detroit with their strong development of defenseman. He wouldnt step in right away and replace Stuart but could eat some of his minutes with Smith potentially. Ericcson or Kindl plus something could get it done.

Hi, I'm new, first time poster. My screen name is a slam on Forsberg and I loathe Coloradical. Been posting on other forums for about eighteen years as Poison Ivy and Smilin Spleener along with this one. I've been looking for U P Guy who used to post on the Detroit News WingNut Forum. Anybody seen him? Anywho, Babsie is "tinkering" with lines...hah! Hows about putting the best line in the entire League back together - Z D and H. And folks wonder why their production is down. Homer is the hardest working man in the buiz with the hand-eye coordination of a wizard. That trio had chemistry like no other. I honestly feel that without these three on the ice together, Detroit doesn't have much, if even a prayer of seeing the second round. It's not too late, Babsie, give it a go! These last five games could get 'em tuned right up.

What do you consider a success?

I can see the reasoning behind all of the options, but in the grand scheme of things, making the playoffs is what you have to do. Beyond that, it's a bounce here or there that can kill you or save you. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but it takes a full season to make the playoffs. It means even more now that our division is actually competitive. I consider making the playoffs to be a successful season. And then the real work starts. After that, everything else is gravy. I'm not going to be happy with anything but a Cup, but I'm not going to get mad about not winning it every year either. Unless we win the Cup, I will be disappointed, but I will still consider this to be a highly successful team. Maybe I've spent too many decades as a Lions fan.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because they are hockey fans, want to go to some games, their team left, they want to go on a road trip and have some fun? Quit being such a whiny baby and welcome them to the Joe. Careful, or you'll end up sounding like Adrian Dater - http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2012/03/04/postgame-avs-penguins-playoffs-slipping-away/9933/

Win and we're back on track to get 4th spot. Lose and we're on our way to 6th spot. Pretty pivotal game.

    Luke Schenn

I a heartbeat. Schenn has massive upside and is a young, mobile, physical force. He has been stuck in the land of misfit toys for his career thusfar - but this is a player than can excel in a better market/team. Hes a functional player thats willing to stand up for his teammates - which is more than can be said for this entire roster 95% of the time. If a move makes sense Id be very happy to see this kid in Detroit.

I agree. There always are people rude enough to vote on this kind of things but I think it was a stupid idea by MLive to put it up in the first place.

It's weird seeing Ruslan in the highlights of the last game against Florida. Almost forgot about that....sad stuff.

Not tripping over their dicks, which they've done too much recently. 60 minutes of solid play, consistent effort, and high energy. If we manage to do that, I'm happy. How far doing that gets us this year is entirely dependent on how much they want to prove to the fans they're not a bunch of lazy, spoiled, entitled dopes. On one hand, I want us to win the Cup every year, however it's entirely unrealistic for that to happen, so I try to remember that as long as they play with heart, I'll be satisfied with our lot. If we lose in 7 games, at least we went down swinging. I can take comfort in the fact they didn't give up, while simultaneously being upset they didn't win.

    People v. NHL:

The system is poorly managed though. I pay extra for Center Ice and have two markets blacked out on it (LA and Anaheim) even though I only see LA's games on my local channel. I watch Kings vs Wings games on the local FSN but ALWAYS have to seek out a stream online to see Ducks vs Wings games. Paying extra and still not seeing your team is uber-frustrating. esteef

I thought the Wings played well tonight. They hit two posts, Zetterberg was robbed, and Nashville's first two goals (I didn't see the 3rd) came on flukey plays. The Wings could have easily won 3-1 or 4-1.

    Tomas Holmstrom's fate

That is what I was thinking. As was already said it is one thing to talk about it on here, which has been done as long as long as I have been around here, but to take it public? Poor Homer, he's going to score some big goals this post season I get the feeling...LGW

I just want to see some pride and effort. Play like you know what's on the line and this should be a W.

The Nucks, Hawks, and Kings have all been rolling the last 10 games. The Wings haven't. It's a little late in the season to still be tweaking lines but there is still time to get their game in order. I'm anxious to see how the second line performs today. LET'S GO RED WINGS!!

    Babcock's after game comments

Babcock may be forced to commmit seppuku in the offseason, to avoid shame and dishonor.

How would it help the team if Babcock called the players out when he's interviewed? Feeding the drama-hungry fans isn't part of his job.
