Lol at Franzen floating to refs to discuss something. -
9 pointsIt's been known for some time that Zetterberg is the next captain. As for Lidstrom's supposed decline near the end of the season, have you ever played a sport with a deep bone bruise on your ankle?

Nick Lidstrom did not have a decline this season, he was playing through a deep bone ankle injury... if you knew what that is like then you would know how that affects your game a lot more than you think. Before that, he was a leading candidate for the Norris so it is safe to say that there is no decline this season for Nick. Also Nick has stated recently that he will never sign a contract and state that "this will be my last season." Nick is a classy guy and would not want to make a season about him... Now I think he will sign for one more year and he will once again be our best dman regardless of if we sign Suter or not. As for Homer, I am thinking that we bring him back 1 last year. He is a veteran who will be hungry and he was one of our best players in the playoffs, competing every shift. I also think it is really important he comes back because him and Nick are best friends, always go out for lunch on a home game day, and always drive to the Joe together for games... pretty important that they both come back. -

Hey it worked with Hull...he mentioned more than once that he was impressed with the fact that Yzerman and Shanahan both tooks cuts (actually they deferred salary) in order to sign him... I wish Lids would tell Holland that he will sign for "whatever it takes" to get Suter AND Parise here... -

What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?
Rick D reacted to LeftWinger for a post in a topic
Ya, I agree, but I don't think trading Filppula alone is going to get Detroit a great player, the other side of the sword is if Franzen is added in, then you would expect someone of Nash's or Perry's caliber in return...dunno, just keep them both and hope Franzen decides he wants to actually play someday. -

To sign 12 players.... I suppose if you signed a bunch of guys to minimum contracts to keep guys like Gill and both Kostitsyns it could work. But there is no way the Predators will be seriously in on Parise. -

I don't think that's an accurate assessment of Nashville. While it is true they will have a ton of cap space it is only true because they have 15 players who will be RFA or UFA after this year. Sign Suter, Weber, and Rads and leave 10-12 mil for another 12 players which includes both Kostitsyns, MacLellan, Gaustad, Tootoo, Gill, and a number of others? Me thinks not. http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=19 -

Majsheppard reacted to Vladifan for a post in a topic
This pretty much says it for me. I'd much rather the Coyotes take it, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I'll say Preds in 7. And, OH - how I hope I'm wrong. :puke: I'm not sure why so many of you think this is going to be a dull series. I plan on watching as much of it as I can -

What's REALLY going to happen this off-season?
Shaman gave a reaction for a post in a topic
Hudler re-signs for 5 years, 25 mil. Samuelsson and Kopecky are signed as UFAs. Quincey is re-signed as well. Holmstrom signs for 2 more years. Lidstrom retires. Stuart is gone. Kenny says he loves our depth and that the UFA prices were just way too high. Says he had interest in 4 or 5 players but they were too rich for his blood. Kenny says the Wings are not that far away from winning the Cup as they lost to the Cup champion Nashville Preds. Says he will wait until the trade deadline with all the Cap space available. Deadline will come and Kenny will trade for Ville Leino saying he is the missing piece and they never should have traded him in the first place. Wings lose in the first round to Nashville again. Rinse and repeat. Ok so this is the nagging voice in my head which I keep trying to block out. I will not mention it anymore! Here is what Kenny will do...Sign Parise and Suter. Nick comes back. Homer retires and gets a job as Haakan Andersson's assistant as swedish scout. Quincey is traded to the Oilers for a 2nd round pick. Nyquist and Smith make the team. Stuart leaves for Cali. Emmerton is waived and is picked up by Stevie in Tampa. Moen is signed to play with Eaves and Abby on the 4th line. Parise-Datsyuk-Nyquist Filppula-Zetterberg-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Bertuzzi Moen-Abdelkader-Eaves Miller, Mursak Lidstrom-Suter Kronwall-White Ericsson-Smith Kindl Howard-MacDonald -

My ideal roster for next year
Z Winged Dangler gave a reaction for a post in a topic
Your wish roster is not much different than mine. Only mine has Mule on it instead of Gaustad. Gaustad has value has a 4th line face off guy but for 3 mil? That's too much. For a mil more I will take Mule's 30 goals and hope he can find is playoff form once again. Like all the other Red Wings. -
