Wings look into Jonas Holøs?
asoras and 5 others reacted to Nightfall for a post in a topic
I think the negs are more for your attitude on the situation. At least that is the impression I got from your post. I don't think anyone here is thinking Holland is going to screw the team this summer. Yet, you seem to be taking the negative nancy approach. Give Holland time to make the team before you pass judgement on him. -

Wings look into Jonas Holøs?
weGotTheCup89 reacted to Norwegian Red Wing for a post in a topic
Jonas Holøs is a great norwegian D-man, and just ended a great World Championship, as one of the players with most icetime during. (Think he had an average of over 27 mins a game!) He ended up with 9 points in 8 games (4+5), plus 4, and got lots of credit from both Swedish experts (LINK to one article), and NHL-agents. He is born and reised in my hometown Sarpsborg in Norway, and has always been a serious athlete. He puts down so much in his training, and is by some described as the best trained team-athlete ever in Norway (LINK to google-tranlated page). Jonas has played in the NHL before (Avs), but decided to leave when he after the first season was sent down to AHL with the word he was ranked as their d-man number 14. He knew he was good enoguh for the top league. And he is, believe me. Anyway.. Several newspapers (in Norway and sweden) has been writing about Holøs return to the NHL during the Championship, and now one of the most known hockey-commentators in Norway claim that Detroit is one of three teams interested in bringing him over again. LINK to norwegian site (using Gogle translator) Besides the Wings, the two other teams is, according to this writer; Chicago and his former team Colorado. Colorado has been confirmed by agents in other TV-news etc here in Norway, but as for Chicago and Detroit - this is new to me. What do you guys think? I could actually see him fitting this great team of ours. -

Embellishments are a bigger problem with the league and the system of refereeing, it's done league-wide, not something Dustin Brown solely does. I don't see that as justification for wishing injury upon him when he makes a borderline hit. As mentioned, he's also been on the receiving end of embellishments and questionable hits/sticks, but whatever, you've invested excessive amounts of emotion into a single player for a league-wide issue .. hate away. -

If it is so painstaking then why do you continue I click the links and post in the threads? You are right "we can't win every year." I am not sure anyone would argue this OBVIOUS point. But you can strive to improve every year, use our money to sign free agents, use players, picks to trade for players, etc to make the team better. The Wings have not done this the past 3 years and it's the cause of that some people get frusterated. -
1 pointIt's weird, Parise and Suter. I can realistically see it going any one of the four possible ways (we get both; we get neither; we get Parise but not Suter; we get Suter but not Parise). 7/1 can't come soon enough.

Wings look into Jonas Holøs?
Drake_Marcus reacted to haroldsnepsts for a post in a topic
Agreed. Kindl has now played 106 games in the NHL. And Ericsson is a converted defenseman taken dead last in the draft. Taken 19th overall, I think Kindl is the highest pick the Wings have had since drafting Marty Lapointe. I had higher hopes for him but he couldn't even hold a spot over Commie and didn't see a lick of ice time in the playoffs. And he's not exactly that young either. People can bag on Quincey for how he plays, but he's only a year older than Kindl. He's just been playing big minutes for several seasons. Kindl is also an inch taller and 10 lbs heavier than Q, but you'd never know it from how he plays. There's still hope he'll turn into something, but when the Wings picked him in 2005, I'm guessing they were hoping they'd have an NHL ready defenseman by now. -

If the Rangers get there as well... they could win a perfect cup (sort of). #1, #2, #3, and #1... technically speaking the 4 toughest teams you could draw. -

What's the point of the crease?
PredsFanTheBayouState reacted to cnot19 for a post in a topic
The most important thing about the crease is that it tells goalies where they are in the net. It helps them with angles and how far they should come out to challenge the shooter. -

Interesting, but I'd get rid of the trapezoid rule first. Also, the crease kinda looks aesthetically presentable to me, the rink would look weird without it. -

Iginla
Uncle Danny reacted to kipwinger for a post in a topic
No knock on Iginla, I think he's a great player and would love it if he were a free agent at the same time as Parise, which would help keep the prices down. But he's not, and I certainly don't want us to trade away assets. Addition without subtraction for this guy. We're already not deep enough according to Holland and Babcock, I don't see how trading anybody is going to help that. -

OakWing reacted to centcougar07 for a post in a topic
Good post Richdg. I wouldn't worry about all the neggs you get on the comments. Since I've been here, I have noticed many a Wing fan either incapable or unwilling to face the fact that it will soon be time to rebuild and that we aren't a dynasty anymore. Sadly, even when you give them the facts and throw the numbers in their faces, you still wont get them to be realistic about it. Of course we all want to see Detroit be a dominant force in the league and compete for cups year after year. But when you look at the facts and look at the numbers, it's not there and it's easy to see the decline. Thanks for the reality check. -

The Wings' success post lockout is partly due to not just diving out a la the Rangers into the free agency market. It's too big of a gamble. Certainly something needs to give soon if the team wishes to manage the decline seen in the postseason, but all teams go through this. The Wings' have made signings, but they aren't the type that make huge headlines, that's how it's been since the lockout. OTOH, it has resulted in a Cup, one win from two Cups, so I don't see a reason to be frustrated other than the normal part about one's own team losing. The difference between being spoiled and not is the ability to look at the bigger picture and appreciate success. Those who are spoiled refuse to do so, they're also the ones always complaining. Sorry, but that's not the way I personally function as a fan. I get upset at losses, I move on, hard to enjoy something if I'm even remotely as unnerved as some posters look here. -
0 pointsIt's not as hard to reload when you have some of the best drafting and player development in the league, and your one of the top free agent destinations in the league lol....now if this was Edmonton or Columbus.... Emmerton: NHL ready Mursak: NHL ready Andersson: NHL ready Smith: NHL ready Nyquist: NHL ready Sheahan: Call up Tatar: Call up (insert free agents name here) (insert free agents name here) That's potentially about 9 players who will be fighting for NHL ice time....plus Holmstrom makes 10....we've still got about 2 more seasons of reloading left IMO though.....

Illitch "definitely committed" to new downtown arena
Hockeytown0001 reacted to Echolalia for a post in a topic
He was banking pretty heavy on the leverage that he would get from owning the Pistons. From what I've gathered, the idea was to entice the city to fork over more of the coverage costs for the arena and in return, Illitch agrees to bring the Pistons back to Detroit. Unfortunately the owner of Palace Entertainment wasn't fully honest about the value of the sale. Illitch inevitably found out and the plans fell through. Who knows what's in the plan now. All I know is that the Joe is a dump. -
