    O'Reilly Trade Rumor

It's simple; we hire D Mac as an advisor (we know he could use the cash anyways) he goes into the "negotiating" room with Greg Sherman he comes out with not only the rights for O' Reilly but Gabriel Landeskog, and Erik Johnson all for Kyle Quincey Now that's negotiating

    O'Reilly Trade Rumor

I don't think they will, no rumors I'm seeing say they want a roster player, and they're certainly not going to get a key component of any team for a guy who doesn't have a contract. That's the key, without having him signed, nobody is going to give too much for him, and the Avs can't really ask for the world either. Edit: Just read about how the Avs have an absolutely horrible PK right now. Give them Miller, Tatar, and 2nd for O'Reilly's rights. Clears out our glut of forwards, gives them their prospect and pick, and helps their PK with a good third line forward and PKer. Win, win, win.

    Paul Kelly: Expansion coming

You couldn't see the league prolonging expansion year by year for a few short years until they can get a couple of teams shoehorned into an already too large league? I don't agree but it's the type of thing I could see the NHL trying. Myself I think we could stand to lose two teams rather than gaining two more.

I agree. I've not once yelled at my TV for a play Huskins has made I don't think, at the same time it's been awhile since I hated Quincey. He hasn't been completely terrible lately either

    Zetterberg's Great But...

Pavel grew a better beard than Zetterberg in the 2011 playoffs, He played 50 seconds less than Z. So your argument is invalid.

    Zetterberg's Great But...

While I absolutely agree z's beard is the reason for the extra ice time, this doesn't explain all of kronwalls I've time... I may have to investigate further, I feel there is something I'm missing here, we have to dig deeper

    Zetterberg's Great But...

Why is there a "but" at the end of the thread title? Zetterberg's great. Period. Datsyuk is great. Period. Be grateful they play for us, not someone else.

    Kindl's future...

E is inept? C'mon that doesn't feel just a little like stubborn old memories refusing to go away? He's been great the last half of last season and he's continued right where he left off this season. His passing is crisp, his play in his own end has been very good. One aspect I can but somehow also can't believe we're overlooking is his ability to get out of the corners quickly, or move pucks behind the net in those areas under pressure. I've seen him just flick pucks to open guys very quickly under a ton of pressure. I haven't seen anyone do that since Nick and Raf, not even Nik. That is a huge aspect of defense, just shrugging off the forecheck like that. He does it so well and it's one of the biggest reasons why we don't notice him in his own end. And that's a good thing. As for Kindl's future, I just don't think he meshes well here. He's average with brief flashes of something more but it's fleeting. Those flashes give his fans something to cling to and I think we've been very patient but I can't foresee him sticking around. I know Huskins isn't the best offensively but he can move the puck adequately enough to replace Kindl I think considering his defensive play more than makes up. I'm not exactly tapping my fingers impatiently waiting for points with bottom 6 defenders, I'd rather they just grind out and shut down opponents and don't make mistakes. Kindl is a decent top 4 defenseman on another team who doesn't fit into the 3rd pairing role here. It's sad but that's the reality of it. I keep getting this gut feeling his mistakes are all mental because he's trying to play into the top 4 and screws up because of it but regardless we can't wait around forever. This team is always more patient than the forums are but I think he'll be gone eventually in some sort of deal.

For a guy on the small side coming from the Swiss league, I'm personally shocked and impressed by how well his complete game has developed stateside. He still makes a rookie mistake here and there as far as assignments on a rush, but that will come in time. I love how he uses his speed to hound the puck carrier on the forecheck, forcing their hand. Last night alone he forced the Stars defense into coughing up the puck 2-3 times with numbers back and only Brunner and *gulp* Franzen back on the forecheck, even forcing an interference penalty (albeit a soft one). Then look at the goal he scored, doing the Holmer thing in front of the net, of all things. I don't think I've seen him shy away from the center of the ice in the ozone yet. Overall, as someone who was on the "wait and see, don't get over excited" side with Brunner in the off-season, I think he's been great. The only thing I'd really like to see is for him to move more during the powerplay, provide an outlet when it's needed, and use that great shot from the point from time to time to create chances for his PP linemates. Sometimes he just skates to the goalline and waits or sits in the slot between the defensive box where he can't really get the puck or a shot off while the rest of the line passes around the perimeter. He has the right idea, but needs to move more, keep the defense moving, and give his teammates different looks. Other than that minor adjustment, a coaching thing, the kid has really impressed me!

    Kindl's future...

There isn't a reason Quincey shouldn't work out. He's played very well elsewhere. You aren't just going to let go the defenseman you spent a 1st round pick on after like 30 games. Especially when you're a team in need of defenseman. Now obviously the move hasn't worked out, but it's still early in Quincey's career, wing's have invested too much, and need him to play to his potential.

This season is hard to say as he is still adjusting, but i wouls say around 15-20 next year however he could easily be 30+

Agree with you about Helmer, of course. Disagree with you about Bertuzzi. Totally. Bert is a smart forechecker, gives a lot of effort to get that big slow(ish) body back on the backchecks, has great stick work, can see plays before they develop which allows him to get into passing lanes, can lay the body and play the body, and can shut down. Even Babs has talked about how Berts defensive game is truely great, having totally morphed since coming to Detroit. Not to mention that with his years of experince in the league, he's seen a lot of everyone in the league and knows everyone's strenghts and weaknesses and tendencies. It's a Brunner thread, so I'm going to refrain from getting into how underrated and under valued Bert is by so many o LGW.
