Sens Karlsson suffers lacerated Achilles tendon
Z Winged Dangler and 3 others reacted to esteef for a post in a topic
After watching the video MANY times and knowing checks like this happen all the time, Cooke stomped the back of Karlsson's ankle with his skate. I think it's pretty clear. Of course we'll never know for sure, and you can bet your ass Cooke would never admit it if he did do it on purpose, but I don't think it was an accident. edit: The fact that this hit DOES happen all the time without a rash of players getting their legs sliced up only supports the notion that Cooke did this on purpose. Either that or we are supposed to believe that all hockey players from pee wee on up through juniors to the NHL know how to correctly finish this type of hit without cutting the opponent but Matt Cooke does not? Boooooools***. Matt Cooke hasn't changed, he's simply figured out how to disguise his cheap play better. He now knows he can't just come screaming across the ice and blindside headshot someone, he's got to make his cheapness look like an "accident". f*** Matt Cooke. esteef -

Not really. People believe what they want to believe. Matt Cooke is a piece of s*** and is hated by many people, and for good reason. For many people, he's lost the benefit of the doubt. Is it fair? Probably not. Do I care? No, f*** Cooke. I said it once and I'll say it again. He never should have been in that position because he shouldn't be in the league. -

Two years ago, you would have been throwing bags of shat at Kenny, because Z was nursing a bad back all season long. My analogy smells of roses. -

I will only make one comment on this thread, accident or not....YOUR SKATES BELONG ON THE ICE! -
2 pointsBy "hang them up" you mean "take the Ian Laperriere, spend two years on LTIR so we don't get screwed by the 35+ clause, retirement plan". Yes, I agree. That said, I hope he gets better. Always better if you can retire on your own terms, and few enough get to do it. Plus, chronic back pain sucks.

This was inspired by the Valtteri Filppula discussion, I don't see Abby's name in a discussion title. So he doesn't feel left out if he visits the board, feel free to talk about his game here. Let me start: OMG he's only plays 13:11 minutes a night and has 1 Assist in 13 games!!!! What was Holland thinking drafting him at 42nd overall?! Abby only played College Hockey at Michigan State! Holland doesn't have a clue! -

It's Matt bastard Cooke for crying out loud, so the benefit of the doub t has no place here. I also don't care if it was intentional or not the fact remains, whenever crap happens the Penguins are somehow always involved in it and their owner is one of the guys always screaming for players safety, if something bad is happening to HIS players. Well Lemieux how about screaming for Kevlar socks now? To be honest watching Karlsson play has made the loss of Lidström a little bit easier, because his talent does remind me a bit of our alltime great. So come back soon kid. I wish Cooke would have to answer for it, but it is not gonna happen and the reason for that is in the AHL Steve MacIntyre. Nobody is going to fight this guy or try any cheapshots with him in the lineup, so Pittsburgh can basically call him up the next time they are going to play against the Senators and nothing will happen. The league should have thrown the book at Cooke after the Savard thing they didn't and thats unexcuseable. -

Hockeymom1960 reacted to kipwinger for a post in a topic
Seriously, the Free Press wrote the story two days ago and not a single other news source around the state ran with the story. I'm not saying that it didn't happen, I'm saying that it's probably less serious than they made it sound, which is probably why nobody else paid attention to it. Plus, Bert is a mad mo fo, so he'll tough it out. -

The I love baseball line sums it up perfectly for me as well. That lineup and starting rotation makes me want it to be April 1st tomorrow. Can't wait to see those beautiful white jerseys and a huge crowd at Comerica. -

Respectfully....I don't think you read my post thoroughly. I never mentioned losing premium seats (other posters did), I simply stated that you would be loosing three rows at ice level. Which you would be....I don't care how you want to number the rows and what you charge per that row....really not that relevant. But for argument sake; let's take your assertion that an arena would loose three rows. That's at least 300-400 seats!! (and that's a very conservative number....look at a map of The Joe and start counting). So let's take your theory and follow it through (at least try)....the top seats of the lower bowl at the Joe go for $80 a seat (that's actually low as I did my research and three of the major ticket venue's have the average price of these top lower bowl rows a bit higher than $80 per seat). = Math (using low numbers and averages to give you a break make sure there is no doubt you have no clue): 300 seats x $80 per seat = $24,000 per game in lost revenue $24,000 in lost revenue per game x 41 home games per year = $984,000 in lost revenue per year!!! Also things any owner/business minded person would consider: 300 people per game that are NOT buying your food, pop, beer, jersey's/swag, and parking!!!! A survey conducted by HockeyBroad 65.7% of hockey fans claimed they spent more than $26 above ticket price when attending an NHL game. Link to article and survey http://www.hockeybroad.com/ = Math 300 fans per game x $26 = $7800 in lost revenue per game. 41 home games per year x $7800 = $319,800 in lost revenue per year!!!! So now we are up to $1,303,800 in lost revenue per year!!!! Lastly: Construction cost remove these 3 rows!! (Again, I'm no builder or architect...but this sounds like a couple million at least). In your statement about adding more premium glass seats....maybe some, but not that many. Having 100 more seats that you can charge $30 more per seat (again...Math: 100 more premium seats x $30 more per seat...$3000 per game....$123,000 season....this doesn't offset the $1,303,800 you lost in achieving this + building costs!!!). Hell, you could add 200 more premium seats and the economics STILL don't work. Any why, because the fans want it. I'm not sure if you were around the last 6 months of the lockout, but the owners don't have a huge respect for "what the fans want". They are business owners first, hockey people second. Dude...I'm no Bill Gates....but you're the one who might want to think this out. Booya. -

This is bull, in every gdt so far you have been incessently talking smack about fil, and hoping for someone to hop on your hate train. I don't know why you have this disdain for him, he has been one of our most solid and complete players all year, hes putting points up, as well as being very good defensively. I'm honestly wondering if you just like to stir things up, with Datsyuks future unkown we cannot afford to lose anymore offense, and to those saying lose him cause we can use that money otherwise, here's a little insight for you; Our current defense is at about 20.2mil cap hit Losing Quincey, White, and Kindl from that, opens up about 7.5mil now giving Lashoff about 1.5mil next season and smith 2mil leaves us with 5.3mil, plus the left over million on our cap, so 6.3 million to spend now on to offense; without cleary mursak and miller gone that frees up another 4.2 mil, so now 10.5 million to spend, with 1 buyout used. give flip 4.5mil, leaves us with 9mil, howie should be at about 4mil next year, so we still have 7.25mil. and after you give brunner 3mil, we have 5.5mil to spend. Now buyout a guy like sammy and you have 8.5 mil to spend. I think we can get a pretty good dman for 8.5 mil bottom line, flip needs to stay -

You aren't able to go see a hockey game in person, something you obviously enjoy, due to a lockout. Your response to this is a self-imposed restriction on going to hockey games, something that you enjoy. I think your taking things too seriously... this is just a past time. Go to hockey games, and enjoy yourself. -

Replacing Flip for Nyquist and seeing no difference? Maybe offensively and that's being generous but Flip's defensive game is so overlooked, even by Wings fans. -

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I had to go back and see if I voiced my opinion. Too bad I didn't. I could now be doing the "neener neener neener toldyaso toldyaso toldyaso neener neener neener" chant. That said, I have respect for those who will change their opinions when taking into consideration new evidence, and also for those who will stick to their guns as long as they're willing to consider new evidence. It's a matter of liking or not liking. Opinions are like noses: Everyone has one, but you can only pick your own. My opinion? I like Tootoo. -

Unless the coach was nailing the other goalie's mother, he was most likely playing the better goalie. Seemed like the coach was going out of his way to play the loser on Senior Night. The kid is an embarrassment to his school, his team and his family. I'd be horrified if that were my kid and I don't care if he was playing for the worst coach ever. You just don't act that way.
