4 pointsNo you didn't. Here's what you actually said when Quincey was traded for... "I may be in the minority here, but I think this is a nice deal. Kyle is a big upgrade over Kindl, he is much better (maybe not tougher) than Commodore, he will be a nice addition here. Welcome back Kyle! and for those who think a first was too much, not only is the first gonna be at least in the bottom 4, it may be #30 overall, just like everyone is saying, but consider this, when was the last time Holland even used his first? The first is so low every year he usually trades it away for another 2nd round pick. Which he has done at least the last two season's. This could mean Holland isn't done, he has said Smith will be coming up soon to get some playing time, maybe Kindl is on his way out, who know's. But as minor as this deal was, it is a little exciting. Quincey will make an impression, trust me. Where are all the folks that were complaining just last week about how we lost him to waivers a few years ago. They should be happy!" And here's where you said it...http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/topic/71668-kyle-quincey-traded-to-detroit-in-3-team-trade-tbl-col/page-5?hl=%20trade%20%20quincey You are aware that when you say things on a forum, and then flip flop later, people can look it up right?

Be Serious: Cleary or Fedorov?
CaliforniaWingsFan and 2 others reacted to RedWang for a post in a topic
In the hypotheical world from which this question hails, I'd take literally anyone over Dano at this point. Honestly im not doubting we'll see far better play from the dinosaurs at the Alumni game than we've seen from Cleary all season. -

NHL14 Berzerk Style!
MabusIncarnate and one other reacted to Kmahrle83 for a post in a topic
For anyone who's every played NHL14 extensively, you know how bug ridden and frustrating it can be. So, to lighten the mood of anyone who's ever wanted to break their controller over the game, I decided to Re-Write Eminem's "Berzerk" (NHL14 Remix) Sorry mods if there is a more appropriate place for this, but this is general discussion right? And it DOES have to do with hockey. Here goes... Pre-game discussion 11/27 Bruins: Dats out. Gus in.
esteef and one other reacted to Kmahrle83 for a post in a topic
WOW, I've been busy lately and missed last game and haven't had time til now to catch up, but had that hit happened to say Crosby.....there would have been serious repercussions. I REALLY hate the way the NHL operates now days. What happened to zero tolerance on headshots? that was as blatantly purposeful as it gets. Not to mention the cross check to his back seconds before. SMGDH...i just....I'm about done with this joke of a league. -

hooon and one other reacted to rick zombo for a post in a topic
I'm hoping this is just precautionary league protocol stuff like Holland is saying and not something seriously long-term. I keep thinking back to how the Hedman and Steckel hits on Crosby looked at the time. I'm also wishing really bad things on Cowen. Not very classy I know. But f*** him. The big slow-footed dummy couldn't keep up with Datsyuk and instead of falling down like Couture, decided an elbow to the face was a good idea. -
1 pointI'm Thankful for BOB PROBERT. Otherwise I'd likely be a Blackhawks, Stars, or Blues fan.

Be Serious: Cleary or Fedorov?
13dangledangle reacted to Echolalia for a post in a topic
Seriously I'd pick Cleary, as much as I want to vomit saying that. Its not that I doubt Fedorov's skill set or his hockey IQ. I'm more worried whether he's physically able to play in the NHL. It's been a couple seasons since he's played in the KHL, and more than a couple since the NHL. He's also a couple weeks away from being 44. I don't care how skilled you are, when you're that age and haven't played in a while, its tough to get the body up to form. I see this 2 year contract and all I can think is Sammy, where in the 1st year he spends the entire season injured, and the second year (now age 45) if he's miraculously not injured, he's not effective enough to warrant being on the team. This year Cleary has been abysmal at generating and capitalizing on chances, but he's still a +1, so at the very least he neutralizes the game for both teams on the ice. Its also a 1 year contract which means next year I'll have the cap-space for someone else entirely. -
1 pointTSN clearly has the best analysts, panelists, insiders etc..no question about that. There is no doubt in my mind and anyone else's that a bunch of these guys will be jumping ship. What this means is more hockey for Canadian viewers. TSN has 2 channels, TSN and TSN2 with some local broadcasting sprinkled in...Rogers has Sportsnet, Sportsnet1, Sportsnet 360 which they just bought from the score as well as regional broadcasts and they have vowed there will be no more blackouts which isn't a big deal for myself but for other people it is. The CBC is in trouble for sure....the station bleeds money and HNIC is the only thing keeping them semi alive. If you live in Canada and you can name one good show on CBC besides HNIC you're a better man than I lol. I don't care who broadcasts hockey, I just hope they do it right. It's gamecenter for me for Wing's games anyways.

I don't have much to add that people haven't said yet.. especially because I live a short drive from downtown. But you get to see lids' number retired!! That's awesome! Have fun dood, I wish you guys nothing but the best experience -
1 pointBut one major problem that I see for the future of the game is that the latest testing shows people are getting concussed at a low level, low enough so they don't necessarily know they're concussed. Two of these low level concussions is enough to cause damage including CTE. Former Pittsburgh Steeler Ctr., Mike Webster had such severe brain damage that he was homeless after retiring from football. After his death his brain showed major CTE. At the time it was a bit of a surprise because it was thought that only speed positions like RB, WR, KR, and DB would have this issue, not linemen that took lots of lower impact hits, but on a very repetitive basis. Even soccer players are getting it from headers If the game is to survive, there has to be major technique changes in hitting, and major equipment changes. As for thoughts that players knew what they were getting into because hockey is a violent game, nobody imagined they'd be mentally ill or in wheelchairs unable to feed themselves or speak. What they are finding out now is just the tip of the iceberg.

The following opinion ma not be popular but personally I think so far the monster outplayed Howard, so he deserves the game against Boston. As for Pasha: 4 days Kenny...get a mean SOB I want him to go Probert Koccur style on Cowen, Neil and one of their starplayers. I'd rather see Spezza, Cowen, Neil out than two points against Ottawa. -
1 pointThat it is. Especially because it likely means he's out for at least a week, in accordance with The Protocol. (I love that it's called "the protocol.") On the "bright" side: 1) he's old and could use the rest, and 2) he and Z have been carrying this team on their backs, so now everyone's gonna have to step up, no more freeloading, no more underachieving, no more sucking.

I am thankful that Darren Helm was able to make his return to the NHL! After such a long absence, no one knew what to expect when he finally came back. His speed was a big question mark, as well as his mental health, but both seem to be near 100% again! Just so thankful to have this kid back. He is already making a huge impact! -

My family are Wings fans. The last thing my dad and I did together before he passed was attend a Wings game. My mom and sister and I will be going to another game this spring. I've met some seriously wonderful people here on LGW. I'm thankful for the fun and good times I've had rooting for the Wings. Sure, it could have been another team, with another website and another set of people, but I'm thankful that I have come into contact with the fans of one of the most storied franchises in sports. I'm thankful that I'm now living in this internet age where I can get to "know" the players via media that wasn't available some years ago. I'm thankful that the players and coaches take the time for interviews for us, and that we can see and hear all about them year-round. I'm also thankful that they don't seriously suck any more. -

I'm thankful for a team that is so consistently good that our problem for the past 22 years is figuring out deeper playoff runs, instead of just how to get into the playoffs. I'm also thankful for the ability to laugh at those who don't think that's good enough. -
