I think it's pretty safe to say NY's bandwagon is pretty much groaning under the weight of all the Wings fans that jumped on it last night.

Because we didn't wreck havoc in front of his net like the Habs are doing.

Franzen was the only player on the team I saw put Lucic on his backside, he led all forwards in blocked shots, he had twice as many takeaways than giveaways and set up all kinds of scoring chances that didn't get buried. There was bad too, he took a lot of bad shots, the turnover's he had ended up in our net and he couldn't bury any of the chances he had, but he wasn't close to the worst forward for the Wings during that series.

Nabokov is, like, 70 years old. Ken Holland is so turned on right now.

I get the sense you don't like Franzen. Why the change of heart?

Good luck, 22! Love your competitive spirit.

No thanks. A 5'9 defenseman can work on a team of giants and badasses and giant badasses. On our team he'd just get steamrolled on the forecheck and he'd have half as many assists because the guys he'd be passing to are 190 lbs. as opposed to 215-235 lbs, and get knocked off the puck more often. Sadly, Torey's not the guy for us. Good player though.

He's a restricted free agent. I don't have any inside info, but I think the Bs like him. http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/teams/BOS?year=2014

Why didnt Rask play like this against us?
  12. 1 point
The Bruins lost this game in the first period, when Rask let the Habs get on the board early. Wait, what?!? (ducks)

Franzen had some very good stretches this year. I'm not a big fan of his or anything like that, but I think it's interesting that no one wants to give him any slack given that he was out for significant time with a concussion. He still put up 41 pts in 54 games. I really don't want to start up the Hossa vs. Franzen debate, but I checked out the salary situations since others were bringing up Hossa name again. At the end of his deal in 2020-21, Hossa is going to be a 42 year old with a 5.2 million cap hit. Franzen will 40 at the end of his deal in 2019-20 with a 3.9 cap hit. Both of those deals will include a feeling of regret to some degree in the last couple of years. Draw your own conclusions for which one would be worse to be tied to. Jagr is 42 and Selanne is 43, but its rare to as effective at that age as those two and both had a cap hit of 2 million. (yes, jagr's deal had some deferred bonuses or something)

I real question is, how well would Todd McLellan like working for Jeff Blashill? Let's just combine the two threads right now.

Ive been saying since last year to bring up Blashill. He has a very impressive resume he's won every championship of the league he's coached in, knows how to use kids, even spent time as assistant in NHL so he knows what to do. Babcock's time is over, his system doesn't work here anymore, time for some new blood and energy. Blashill knows these kids, he's doing very well with them.

Because of Franzen's laziness, posters here have taken to name calling. Thanks Kenny.

The Rangers play back-to-back in Games 6 and 7 against the Flyers. Then they have to turn around after one day off and play three in four nights to open the series with the Penguins. Funny how that always seems to work out when Pittsburgh is involved.

Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

Some of you clearly are not understanding that buying Franzen out would be one of the worst decisions a GM could make when they can easily TRADE him for picks or something else, c'mon folks think here.... At $3.95 million a year, Franzen is a steal, and he can easily be traded for his average 25 goals / 50 points a year (.31 GPM / .61 pts PG). His concussion messed him up this year, but 41 pts in 54 games is pretty good for his paygrade. Do the math yourselves, go to capgeek and see what's available in UFA for $4 million. See how easily he can be traded for that price tag. Buyout talk is just plain retarded and shows a complete lack of understanding the mechanics of contracts and team building. http://www.capgeek.com/ufa-finder/

That Bieber picture pisses me off and I hate the Hawks. Show some respect and don't stand on their logo, man.

I can't pick which thread to rage in, there are so many options. Literally every match up did not go the way I wanted it to in the first round. I feel like I am personally being trolled by the NHL. Because it's all about me, and I know Gary stays up nights plotting ways to gaslight me.

Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

We can buyout TooToo anytime. We don't have to waste our compliance buyout to do it. 1.9 million doesn't matter to us-we have plenty of cap space. Buy out FRANZEN!!!!!!!!!!!! He is dead weight.

    Ken Holland Quotes (Apr 29th

Basically yes but Blashill said he wants to coach another season in the AHL and the FO is happy with him. Conversations would then be like this: other GM: Hello Mr. Holland can I please get your permission to talk to your AHL coach ? Holland: Sure thing, number... other GM: Hello Mr. Blashill you've done a great job in the AHL and paid your dues would you like to come up and sign with us ? Blashill: Sorry, I like my job here and don't feel I'm ready. other GM: but b....but This way there is no grey area, Blashill can focus on his AHL job and other teams know he doesn't want to leave, so no reason for granting them permission. In the last years Detroit has been one of the teams, which always allowed others to talk to their FO stuff (McLellan, Yzerman, Nill, MacLean..). So it's not like the Wings are against it, Holland just sees no reason and it seems like Blashill wants to stay where he is so a no brainer.

    A plea to Holland.

As we've found out this year, our players in the minors have been held back too long. If not for injuries, guys like Sheahan and Jurco would have been in GR all year, while Bertuzzi, Sammy and Cleary would be playing. Holland doesn't have a clue. I wouldn't be surprised if one of our young D-men in the minors is better than some of the garbage playing on the top squad.
