Expansion is a terrible idea. 30 teams is already a lot and there are too many "non traditional hockey markets" still somehow holding on to teams.

    Phaneuf being shopped?

I would rather see Holland sign Samuelson to a 10 year extension than have Phaneuf on this team.
  3. 2 points
Umm yeah he can. Unless Babcock or Holland have no idea what they are talking about. Just last week they said he will be if Grand Rapids is still playing

    Spezza?

I don't think people understand how much offense will be gained with a better D corps.

TSN POY: Hertl vs Gustav Nyquist

I'm fairly certain I wrote that script (my brother helped as well). Although, in the end the best way to vote didn't require a script, just some inside knowledge. No way we were going to let Dats lose to Jake Effin Allen.

    Phaneuf being shopped?

Only if Van Riemsdyk is included.

    Spezza?

I'd trade for Cowen only to tie him to an exercise machine of some sort, and let Datsyuk elbow him in the chin until his eyelashes fell out.

    Phaneuf being shopped?

Maybe Pittsburgh can trade Letang for Phaneuf straight up and then each team can gauge (first hand) how stupid the other's signing was. Just a thought.

    Spezza?

Bingo. And they're leaning towards letting Legwand walk. I'd much rather use a Spezza-type package and go after a D man.

    Spezza?

Might as well sign Legwand without trading any assets. Spezza produces slightly more offense but the physical upgrade is not great.

The term means what it is meant to say. Florida, Carolina, Phoenix, Columbus and Dallas were the five teams with the worst attendance this season, based on percentage of tickets sold. All non-traditional markets. The league needs to cut base with these places, and try moving the teams elsewhere; or contract these teams altogether. Instead, the league wants to expand, this time to Canadian cities that probably can't handle an NHL team.

i hate the term non traditional hockey markets,it's kind of a snobbish term that the nothern/canadian hockey teams use

I see this guy wearing a Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champions hat at the airport so I ask him if they'll get by the Kings and he says, "We just did!". So, I politely say, "No, I said Los Angeles, the Kings." "Yeah, we beat em and now we're beating Minnesota". " No, you beat the St Louis Blues. The beer on the bandwagon so good that the hockey's not so relevant, eh?" He didn't get that either. True story.

Pretty sure Nashville's not going anywhere. The article is about expansion, not relocation..

Excuse me,Halifax will have to find a new name for their team, because the Predators will still be in Nashville,I have already been through a sale of the Nashville Predators and that took a toll on me,i ain't gonna go through another one

I have a gut feeling David Clarkson owes Satan his soul for those years in NJ. I mean, he didn't have to look far to make a deal now did he?

Does it factor in points per game played or just takes a salary number and figures their point total for a season they may or may not have played more than a few games in?

I hate articles like this. They're increasingly common. Regner is clearly reaching for conclusions. Nothing here indicates next year will be his last. What Babcock has stated in other interviews as well is that he can get a job anywhere, so he's not concerned with getting some long term big-money deal. Only people who worry about the future of their careers do that. He just wants to take it year by year. That means he could be here another 10, or he could be gone next year. Either way, nothing here supports Babcock's leaning one way or the other. But hey, page hits, I guess. I wrote this in another thread, but the whole coach getting stale thing doesn't really apply to Babcock anymore. There's such a huge turnover in players that next year's team and the one after that will be almost entirely different than the ones during most of his tenure. So it's like getting a fresh start. Plus, Babcock loves coaching young guys and building their game. He can do that in Detroit just as easily as anywhere else. At least here he has competent management to work with.

And I'd pay Datsyuk $10M a year to actually play hockey

So who are the top RHed Dmen?

I wouldn't completely rule out Jensen or even Nicastro either
