Why would they need two first line centres?

Plugov? Honestly it's nice he's getting to play somewhere, and even better it won't be with the Wings. Sounds harsh but he clearly didn't have a future with the team. I'd rather they call up someone with the potential of making the lineup rather than use a player purely for spackle.

Since this thread's resurrection was ostensibly about Bettman getting executive of the year, which virtually no one has posted about, I think we're done here. Anyone really pining for those old arguments about the lockout is welcome to read through (but not bump) those old threads.

Great accomplishment, here's hoping for a bright future wearing the winged wheel.

I truly feel as if Smith could jump to the 30-35 range next year, given some actual PP time. One of his biggest issues at the beginning of the year and prior was getting the puck out of the zone - boneheaded passes up the middle. He seemed to get away from that near the end, and especially when paired with Kronwall. More poise in the defensive zone and some time on the PP and I think this team has got another point producer. I think it's been pretty obvious in recent posts that I'm pro-Boyle, and I agree completely above the elite defenders. Doughty and Keith are there, McDonagh has turned into that guy. I don't think PK is that two-way monster, but Markov makes up for it. Regardless, those are the guys who dictate possession. I also agree with the sentiment behind having Boyle mentor the other offensive defenders. I think Smith, Sproul, etc could learn from watching his poise, ability to hold the puck at the blueline and his puck movement. I'm not sure about the "Sproul being a #1 in this league" comment. I am a huge, huge Sproul fan, but I think his defensive game is definitely lacking. He's really at a crossroads right now where he needs to fill out and shore up his defensive game, or he could run the risk of developing a Cody Franson type game. That's the downside with him - an offensively driven big man who is prone to defensive lapses - a PP specialist. Right now I see Sproul as having a 2nd pairing guy kind of upside, but that could change, obviously. I for one really hope he rounds out into a two-way guy.

You can do that with any draft from any team in any given year. When you're trying to project where an 18 year old kid is going to end up 5 years later, it's a crap shoot, even in the top 5 overall.

Good video. Only thing that was off with it was the Boston marathon shots. What the hell does that have to do with hockey? It was downright disgusting in my opinion how the long the Boston sports teams used Boston Strong as a marketing gimmick.

Y'know what's crazy? Evander Kane's numbers.The gist of it: he's right where The Other Kane was at his age, and he's done it with second-rate linemates.
