It's a good thing Khan put that "T." In front of "Bertuzzi"....otherwise people might have thought he was talking about Todd instead of Tyler.

Miller-Glendening-Callahan could be a great fourth line.

    3 Training Camp Squads named

Reminds me of the old adage. Who is the second best defenseman in Detroit? Whoever is playing with #5...

Full article: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/can-alex-ovechkin-be-fixed-ex-teammates-and-coaches-say-yes/ This is an article about Ovechkin. At the end, there is a bit about Trotz "fixing" Ovechkin. He notes Scotty Bowman turning Yzerman from a pure-offensive guy into a two-way player. Trotz wants to do the same to Ovechkin.

Someone in the comments section in the link Dirtydangles posted noted that Weiss has looked really good out there so far, despite the stats.

I don't think FSD is going to be up and running until the Leafs are at the Joe for Preseason Game #5 on the 29th.

I heard a rumour that babcock was planning to go to russia after his contract was done so he could coach datsyuk and kovalchuck on the same team... he said ебать Детройт сук... which is something bad in russian

Exactly. Nyquist wasn't "tied" with Cleary or Samuelsson or Bertuzzi coming out of training camp last year. Tatar sat out most of the first ten games too. Two of the Wings best players a season ago were victims of veteran priority. I need to see it to actually believe it too. Jurco will be the real indicator because we all know already he's good enough to be on the team. If they send him down, it's same old Red Wings.

Sorry the Babcock quote makes zero sense to me.... "Tie goes to the best player" well then it isn't a tie is it. People comparing it to the "tie goes to the vet" quote. That was completely different, saying if two players are just as good the vet gets it is way different then if the better guy is better then the better guy plays. That's just common sense lol

For the second time, I realize that. Which is precisely why I'd need for him to prove it, this year, in training camp. Because it hasn't ever been true before. Even in the past, when the rule was "tie goes to the veteran", the ostensible rule was that in situations NOT TIED, the best player would play. But that wasn't the case either. So for all of posterity, I get it. Babs says the best player will play. Prove it.

That's the fourth line I'm hoping for this regular season. Not sure what Callahan's chances of making it are, though.

Imagine being a kid and seeing Z hit the ice and cheering your face off, and then Cleary jumps on with him and you just cry... I just witnessed that reaction. It may or may not have been from myself. I also may or may not be an adult. On another note, look at that boxscore: Glendening, Wheaton and Llewelyn. Snipesville. Edit: "Jurco just got hit in leg by Quincey shot during scrimmage...should be good but that will sting" Quincey's already back to endearing himself to Wings fans all over.

When are people going to stop paying any attention whatsoever to ESPN, especially when it comes to hockey? When I want to know about poker championships, I'll turn to ESPN. Look no further than their vote for the Number 1 worst team in North America: The Toronto Maple Leafs. Seriously? While they have indeed struggled mightily in recent years (decades), they are far from the worst. I don't care what the criteria was, ESPN is dead-ass wrong. As usual.

I agree completely rick zombo. I think many people would be thinking a little differently if we were to miss the playoffs a few year in a row and then had to wait another so many years before we were true cup contenders again. I'd much rather the Red Wings approach and tweak / rebuild on the fly. We've done it after Yzerman, Fedorov and co. with Zetterberg and Datsyuk. I believe we're a lot closer than some people realize to doing it once again with guys like Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, Mantha, Athanasiou, Pulkkinen, Nosek and Frk. Obviously not all guys are going to make it, let alone have the same impact that the previous guys had but I do believe we have at least two from that list that will make a huge impact similar to Pav and Hank. Tanking has proven not to work for various teams, so why do it? What Burke is doing in Calgary is a mockery of the league in my opinion. He's always been a fan of building tough, hard to play against teams, but c'mon man, that team is ridiculous. Do the guys like Monahan, Gaudreau, Baertschi, Granlund, Bennett all need two fighters to protect each of them? I don't think so... I don't think a team NEEDS any fighters on their roster (although I wouldn't mind having ONE) but does a team really need a dozen fighters?... M-o-c-k-e-r-y...

Glendening is very useful. He can be a 4th line RW - Abby - Helm - Glendening ORRRRRRR he can play C and shut down Crosby like he did last year. We should hang onto him.

I would love to see Callahan steal Miller's spot. More grit and possibly also better scoring touch.

What you'd like to see would involve sending to waivers/removing up to 5 different players. That's insane.
