I agree with you on all those points. But I'm willing to send Blashill out just like we sent Yzerman, Nill, and a multitude of other coaches out. Why take on something unproven when you already have something great? I'm not gonna throw away a top 5 coach to gamble on a guy just cause he was successful in a lesser league. If Dave Lewis was our coach I'd partial, but he's not. Appreciate the brown nosing, but I don't know or like you back dude sorry. Where as I'd say he brings the perfect coaching balance to a team full of euros

But we are the wings...we don't like that uncivilized toughness. We like to drink our hot tea with our pinkies in the air.

Blashill vs. Babcock? People can't be serious! Without any NHL head coaching experience, Blashill is the consolation prize to Babcock's proven winner.

Putting up better numbers than Andersson and Miller.

I can see this current slump having an affect on his thinking process though...He says he expects more out of Erik Cole...WHAT?!? At least Cole is scoring some and contributing...how about expecting more out of Helm, Andersson, Jurco, Quincey, Ericsson, Howard to name a few? How about stop ******* playing Andersson in an offensive role when he doesn't even belong on this team, let alone playing in between Tatar and Pulkkinen! Helm is a GREAT 4th line center, how about you stop trying to make him a top 6 winger, how about that? Remember Dan Cleary? He was a great bottom six player, until you decided that he was a top line winger and tried to force him into a role that he had no business being in! Sure, Weiss hasn't been what he was expected to be, but Jesus H, he IS AN OFFESIVE MINDED CENTER!!! With the unfortunate injury to Datsyuk, you try to force Andersson to be that offensive center rather than inserty a player that can actually score some goals? Holy s***! We get it, you don't like Weiss, just like you didn't like Modano or Commodore or Legwand, we get it, its your way or you go cry like a *****, but you continue to force players like Helm and Andersson into a scoring role, which they are both totally inept at, and you wonder why you are in a slump! Then, one of the guys that is actually contributing, you call out and say you expect more of him? WTF!?! FFS, I cannot wait until Franzen says he is healthy and you continue to try to force him into a top line scoring "threat" and then demote Cole to the 4th line like you did Legwand. I am ******* surprised you aren't playing Kindl and sitting Zitlicky because you expect more out of him!!! I honeslty do not care if Babcock goes to TO over the summer, I am about tired of his dumb ass line concoctions putting players where they have NO business being. In no world does Helm or Anderson belong anywhere near Datsyuk, Tatar, Pulkkinen, Cole or Zetterberg, et al. on a line. Helm in the top 6, ******* Andersson between Tatar and Pulkkinen, pass the crack pipe bro... I HOPE this little slump and possible 1st round exit makes him leave, good day sir, you lose, you get nothing!

A "little interference" by Jackman, which is obviously a hockey play and not subtle nor evil When asked if all teams do the subtle interference, Edzo clearly wants to say no but mumbles something noncommittal and reasserts that the Wings do it better than anybody

Bowman had great teams in 95 96 99 00 and 01 and didn't win. He used grinders with Hall of Fame centers and had Fedorov on defense for awhile. He must suck too

How many more cups would you like? Since Babcocks tenure began only 2 teams have won more than 1 cup. And lately the talent just hasn't been there to win. I'd like to know why you think Babs can't manage the current team? No sarcasm involved I'd genuinely like to know?

So you don't have a source where he says he wants to be in a system where he has more power I take it? I wouldn't believe everything you read on the internet friend. Especially if the person it's about never actually said it. So then you want Blashill? a rookie with no cups? Just cause he might be able to do what Babs didn't?

Blashill is a great coaching prospect, but just like any prospect there is no guarantee he will be successful. Are all of you guys calling for Babcock to leave willing to suffer through the ups and downs of a rookie coach? This is not a top team that's under achieving, in fact up until a couple weeks ago this team was actually over reaching its true potential. The current Wings team is made up of a couple aging stars, a few inconsistent rising stars, and no top paring D-Men. Pav is still a top player, but as much as I like him Z is no longer the same he once was, and neither is Kronwall. Gus is in a major sophomore slump and Jimmy is Jimmy. Getting rid of Babcock will not change the make-up of this team, In fact I think he's done a marvelous job with the team he's got. What has caused the slump of late is not the coaching staff not being prepared (even though Babs is prone to blaming the coaches when the team loses), Its the fact that the players don't come to play every night. If the players don't want to play, I don't care if the coach is Blashill or Bowen the team will not win. The recent team meeting was called not because the coaches have sucked, but because the players have. I know its become the norm in today's sports culture to get rid of the coach when the team struggles, and sometimes a change is warranted, but not in this case. For me the best case scenario, would be Babs staying, Holland finally making a drastic upgrade to the team, and the young guys learn to play with consistency.

That was a nice goal. I've been watching some Devils hockey since he went there. I can't believe that we couldn't find a place for him when he was here. He does much more than just pester and fight.

Hmmm, Edzo seeming to indicate that the "subtle interference" thing is a compliment.

I'm a pretty optimistic guy and I have a hard time calling this a good team. 5-5 we're terrible, the PP has carried us all year, and no matter who coaches this team the D corp is porous to say the least. Pav is still a star, Z is still a good player but a star in reputation only. I don't know what the hell has happened to Kronwall lately but he's not himself either. It's great to score 20+ goals but if the team D sucks and they can't get consistent goal tending it won't win. Should Babs get more out of this team or has he squeezed all from them that he can? Truthfully I don't know. Players have to want to be great. It's amazing how many periods the team does almost nothing but stand around with their thumbs up their ass not doing anything. Don't get me wrong, I get your point. I really really do. I just can't honestly say that another coach would do any better with this group.

You really want to gauge his coaching on Legwand, Weiss, Glendening, and Andersson? I'm prepared to defend his decisions on all those players.

I am just as pissed as the next guy that the Wings didn't take advantage of the teams they had and won more, but all the blame can't be placed on Babcocks doorstep. 05 I blame on Legace, who had a terrible time in the playoffs. 09 should have been a win, but I have a hard time blaming the loss on Babcock. The officiating was just crap, and if we are going to blame anyone for the loss, how about laying some blame on Stuart and his giveaways. The parity in the NHL since the lockout has also been a huge part of why many teams are failing to repeat. Not to say that Babcock is completely blameless, I just believe that by and large the majority of coaches are interchangeable, since most of what happens depends on the players. And I'm sure that after some growing pains, Blashill would do a fine job, I just don't see a reason to make a change.

I don't expect him to win ever single year, but you guys are downplaying some of the really great teams he had and lost with. His teams were not mediocre in 2005 or 2009. I get irritated when people act like he's had nothing to work with. He's had good, to great teams since joining the wings. He's got one cup. He's not such a super duper coach that its anathema to even consider life after Babcock.

I honestly don't know how on this forum Babcock went from one of the best coaches in the league to one of the most hated members of the Wings franchise. Maybe because Blashill has surfaced? I don't know. Just because someone has success in college and the minors, doesn't automatically make them a slam dunk NHL coach. I also don't get what some fans want from the guy? I mean, he took the Wings to the Stanley cup, winning ones, and if not for some creative officiating and a missed Cleary breakaway, probably would have won back to back titles. This is also the same guy that has taken a sub par/young and injury prone team to the playoffs the past several years. Not many coaches could have done that. Do I love everything about him? No, not by a long shot, but I wouldn't want to see him go anywhere else.
