The only way missing the playoffs make sense is if we go all Buffalo with it. f*** that. I'm drunk again so pardon my f***ign ***** ass french, but jesus. We have the deepest prospect pool in the league. We are in a position where the team can compete, and we have the depth to now make trades to fill holes in the roster. Tanking a season gives us one potential instant high end player. Key word: POTENTIAL. The streak will mean that much more once we make a run again. Let Chicago be the next team to win 3 cups in 6 years. Let us be the team to win one again without ever missing the playoffs. THAT is something that would never be done again. Patt those mother ******* butss.

If there is doubt and discussion about whether a jersey should be retired, it's not going to happen. As you can see, plenty of doubt about 91 and 30 here. No one here was posting threads to discuss whether 19 or 5 would go up in the rafters.

I hope we get to see Weiss step out of the doghouse and become that second line center everyone was hoping he would be. I wouldnt mind to see more physical players in the lineup. I do expect to see even more kids come up from GR.

People still think abby, helm and kfq are garbage. Their minds are stuck in the past

We gotta make room in the top six for a 20+ goal scoring power forward, who's big, gritty, and plays in the hard areas. Once we get Abby out of there the only problem will be finding a guy like that. I'd trade half a dozen guys on this team rather than Abby. The NHL is a man's league, and Abby plays a big boy game. Trade Nyquist or Pulkkinen before you trade Abby. He's practically the only guy on our team who A) can score goals, and B) isn't a complete pantywaist. If anything we need more guys like him (Drew Stafford anyone?), not less.

We won in 2008 without Fedorov. Why would we still be in a cup drought without him?

    Time for an offer sheet?

The fact that Petry is being compared to Hamilton shows just how little some understand the market. Ufas are not comparable with Rfas. It doesn't work like that. lol

    2015 Draft

If Zboril is still available, I'm not sure that I can handle another left-handed Czech defensemen named Jakub picked 19th overall and not panning out. Exactly 10 years apart too.

end of the streak.... barely making it with the best coach in hockey. I like Blashill but he isn't as good as babcock at this point in time. I expect a step back.

...and Q is NOT good. He was not worth a 1st round pick, and he is not worth the $4.25M. I take that back, in this market, he is, but not in the real world of non-inflated salaries. But whatever, he did get better as the season went on, but with the way our D played in the 2nd half, did he actually get better or did the others play down to him? We wouldn't miss him, and K is more offensive minded. IMO, having Franson, Green and Kindl in the starting 6 is better than having Q in there. That would also give you 3 pairs of dual role players, Kronner, Green and Kindl would be your O minded guys and Franson, Ericsson and Dekeyser would the D minded guys...perfect setup.

    Time for an offer sheet?

Petry just got 5.5 million per to resign. Hamilton is a much better player and younger than Petry. One is a 25 point per year RHed D and the other is a 40+ point per year RHed D. 6 years difference in age as well. No one is worth it, but that is the market. That is correct. Holland has 25 days to work out a deal with NJ to get our 2016 pick back. That is all it would take. A Tvrdon for the pick type of deal should make it happen. But lets dream for a minute..... dekeyser-hamilton Kronwall-Ericsson Oullett-marchenko Lashoff That is a very good BL corp and we would still have more BL prospects coming and all of our best F prospects. Not to mention about 10 million more in cap space after trading KFQ.

Helm and Abby are good, but they are not top 6 guys. If you aren't going to put offensive minded guys in the top 6, then trade them, because Jurco and Pulkkinen are NOT bottom 6 guys. Keep Abby and Helm in the top 6 and trade Pulk and Jurco then. People seem to forget ALL the games where we couldn't score goals or even get shots on the net, you will never realize the potential of Jurco and Pulk while playing with Glenny and Andersson as their centers. Abby and Helm have great chemistry with all the guys in the bottom 6 and most likely would make those lines better. Continue to use Helm on top PK lines and Abby on top PP lines, that is fine, but we are wasting the talent of Pulk and Jurco if they are out there playing 5 minutes a game and in a checking role. No offense to Abby, I like the guy, I live 30 miles north of Muskegon, he is an icon over here. I know Jurco and Pulk haven't proven anything yet, but that is because they were stuck in the bottom 6 with our last coach. BOTH players were drafted because of their offensive capabilities. Sure they need to play both sides of the puck, but they are more O than D. I give Abby all the credit in the world for scoring 23 goals amongst 44 points, but both Pulk and Jurco have the potential, with the skills they have, to get near 30. Sure, AHL doesn't always convert to NHL, but the one thing I hated about out last coach was the way he utilized certain players. If Blash is anything like him, then we all know line combos will change a million times over the season. I just would like to see both Pulk and Jurco put in positions to take advantage of their particular skill set. Demoting Abby is in no way knocking him, it's almost a compliment because his skill set allows him to be that versatile. He would make the bottom 6 better, besides, if Jurco is on the 3rd line with Sheahan and Helm, is that truly a bottom 6 line? I understand I actually have Jurco on the 3rd line, so technically, he is in the bottom 6, but by numbers only. That line could be a great two-way line, with Helm 's D and Sheahan's two-way along with Jurco's offense potential.

I still think we should trade up, rather than trading back. We have a ton of depth at all positions, what we lack is elite talent. We're obviously not getting anywhere near the top 5, and likely not even within the top 10. However, if Zach Werenski is still available at 12, I would give Nill a call and see if he wants to make a trade. I would offer up a package of something like our 2015 1st round pick (19th overall), 2016 2nd round pick, Xavier Ouellet for their 2015 1st round pick (12th overall). I would then select Werenski in the 1st round and Matthew Spencer in the 2nd round.

Federov was a hack. Fedorov, on the other hand, was one of the best two-way players to ever touch a puck, was the love of my life, and had a sick flow. He would most certainly have been in the rafters if he hadn't taken a squirty dump all over his "Detroit Legacy." Just the way things work around here. The only way I could see it happen is after Mike Ilitch passes, but it's a long shot. Osgood, while his accomplishments here were many, imo is not the caliber of player to get a banner.

What would be the point? I'm pretty sure it was decided years ago that when Babcock was no longer the coach, Blashill would step in. He knows the system and he's been very successful in the AHL playing our system with our prospects, that he will now be coaching on the Wings. You're not going to find anyone else out there with those kind of credentials.

I know you're being sarcastic, but it really is great. Blash is the right way to go. He has been groomed for this for the past 4 years.

Why bother? Two of those guys suck, and the other three don't fit our organizational philosophy. When McLellan and Bylsma were hired elsewhere, the (already low) probability that we'd hire anyone else fell to zero.

    Barry Sanders Detroit Lions Games

Not interested in the football, but thanks. Thanks for your opinion on the recordings, but I have to disagree. People have recorded games for years and trade copies all the time. I know many people that have thousands of games. I'm just looking to upgrade some of my collection. The NFL would frown upon people selling copies of games and making a profit.
