You're stating that like it's a lot... He's played almost entirely for one team. Just one half season before he was traded very early in his career. How is this a negative? In fact that's below average in terms of a player's movement over 400 games.

Erik Karlsson also "puts up numbers", "isn't a great defender" and was -2 this season - but could very easily win the Norris trophy in 2016. There are very few Nick Lidstrom's who play every part of the game at an elite level - so to compare positional players by generalizing their abilities into: Good at this/Not good at that/OK at this categories is unproductive in my opinion. What matters at the end of the day, is how valuable a player can be to his team... I'm not an advocate of over-paying for anyone, but to argue that Shattenkirk won't fit with the Red Wings because all he does is "put up numbers" is profoundly dumb. Keep in mind, he ranked 19th in NHL defence scoring (which was 1st on his team) and missed 10 games - but did this from the 2ND Pairing at both even strength, and on the powerplay. I remember losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 5 games because we literally didn't have anyone who "put up numbers" - especially on the back end.

I'd absolutely give him two years, especially if it meant getting him at the lowest possible cap hit. 2 years at 4-4.25 million would be a done deal for me.

What's the point of signing him at all. :/

That's good that we're only in for a 1 year deal. I've been checking out videos of him and he really wasn't so good on his last return to Nashville - I feel like he has a high likelihood of disappointing. The speculation that Avs are a front runner is also based on the fact that Radulov played for the team that Roy coached in the QMHL. If he liked playing for Roy that could play a factor, but those 2 strong personalities could also dislike each other so who knows... He does have a slight personal connections to the WIngs since he's been playing for Fedorov's CSKA. Then, of course, he knows Datsyuk. He could have heard good things about the orgnization, but you never know how much that sways a player...

Update on Radulov - The Detroit Red Wings are interested in signing Russian star Alexander Radulov, but only for one year. They believe signing him to a one-year deal, likely in the $4 million to $5 million range, would limit their risk, a source said. Radulov, who turns 30 on July 5, is believed to be seeking a two-year deal, which the Red Wings are hesitant to give. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2016/06/red_wings_interested_in_signin.html

I'm really looking forward to this draft. Should be lots of activity. Haven't seen many of the players play very much so I can't say I'm really hoping for any one player. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we don't end up picking at our current position.

So basically he's saying Crosby is the better faceoff man? Cheater = winner and better on faceoff circle. Datsyuk is a king of faceoff cheats too. Draper was a god.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying. in this situation couture is the whiner. You play the game, but you also play the refs. What they allow, you do whether the other team calls it cheating or not.

glad tampons are out, no cup for Yzerman outside of Detroit, no cup for POS lawyers pretending coaching.
