You said he's top 6 now you're changing it to top 6 "minutes" lol. Nyquist hasn't played top 6 role all season. He primarily played on the 3rd line first half of the season. Overall minutes wise with the help of the PP sure he's top 6 "minutes" but 5 on 5 (which is 90% of the game) he was playing with 3rd liners until the last couple months.

4th line suits him imo. Should be Callahan - Glendening - Sheahan. Would be a pretty balanced line.

That was the end of Sproul's shift anyway, right? Well, the defense definitely shouldn't have touched that one.

"A hockey birdie whispers that Valtteri Filppula turned down a trade to Toronto, and accepted one to Philadelphia, because he didn’t want to play for Mike Babcock again. Six years of the relentless Babcock is apparently too much for some players" Thought that was interesting. From The Toronto Star.

It's all opinion lmao, yours, mine and theirs. You can't measure captaincy through facts unless you're looking at trophies; which would be a weak argument anyways. But if that's the case then "factually" speaking Zetterberg has more Leadership trophies than Lidstrom and Yzerman combined. What do you think about Zetterberg as a captain compared to the other current NHL captains, Where do you rank him?

http://dobberhockey.com/players/Gustav-Nyquist Combined 61% of the season 3rd line combinations with Larkin, Helm, Nielsen, Vanek as partners and 39% on 1st line with Mantha and Zetterberg. Done. And your icetime crap includes PP times, subtract that and his 5 on 5 ice time is less than Tatars. Why? Because he primarily played third line minutes. It's a bit complicated mathetmatics, so I can see why you may have perceived it a certain way.

At least Sheahan isn't on the 2nd line like last game.

He hasn't go check on your info. Not even going to read the rest of the post since the first part of it is false. Played 3rd line combos all the way until January actually. Didn't get top 6 until Tatar got demoted from Zetterbergs line and Nyquist got promoted.

Red Wings are seriously only effective when their defense doesn't play the puck

This defense group is a pile of dog s***. Do we have one defensmen that would be more than a 6/7 on the Capitals roster?

I miss the days when Dave Strader was our guy. I'd add Bruce Martyn to that, but, to me, Ken Kal sounds the same.

Yzerman may as well still be captain. Lidstrom, while a great player, wasn't much of a captain. He was simply next in line for the "C" due to his on ice abilities and being with the team since The Streak began. The year he won the cup as captain, i'd say Z was more integral to the championship run as far as leadership goes. Not saying Lids didn't play a big role as well, but out of it all, the moment I recall most is Z killing off that late third period 5 on 3 frustrating the hell out of Crosby or anyone else who touched the puck. But while Z has better leadership abilities than Lids did, he doesn't come close to Stevie. Playing the entire 2002 cup run on one leg says it all. Pretty well any other player would have packed it in.

^ Exactly. My opinion is- Yzerman full 10/10 - double OT goal, best player on ice with numberous injuries, helped bring Wings out of Dead Wing era. - gave hope to a city that was torn after civil rights movement. - Joe Louis arena is on Steve Yzerman drive for a reason. - changed his entire game style for the sake of the team, went from being an offensive forward to defensive forward for the team's sake. Zetterberg 8/10 -willed the team to playoffs in 2013 season and scored playoff series OT game winning goal win against Anaheim while we were the udnerdog team without Lidstrom for the first time - immediately came to play against Boston playoff series in 2014 after back surgery (idk how you can do that and not worry about becoming handicapped) Lidstrom 7/10 -leader by example, Greatest defenseman of modern era but can't really think of many individual captain-like notable instances. During his captaincy Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg aka the "Euro-Twins" were the faces of the franchise and along with Osgood's incredible play won the Stanley cup in 08.
