Holland and trade don't belong in the same sentence unless there's a word like doesn't, won't or can't included.

If anything, Thompson should be the QB. This way he can control the play, feed Mr. and Mrs. Witkowski as he sees fit. "Mr. Witkowski, How does it feel to something something Michigan something something?" "Mrs. Witkowski, Did you ever imagine your son something something brand new building something something Michigan something something?" "Mr. Witkowski, Would you say this is a dream come true something something Michigan something something?" "Mrs. Witkowski, How special is this something something brand new arena something something in front of all these people something something Michigan?" If that doesn't work, roll out the Michigan 5: Abdelkader Witkowski Glendening Larkin DeKeyser Much patronize. Very pander. So grit. A lot Michigan. Very character. So parents.

I agree. Which is the main reason I'm hoping Holland moves up or out of the organization after this season.

    Off-season moves

Rass and Tippetts production in the minors are not much different , for all the hype of Tippett being the sniper he only has 7 more goals than Rass . If you look at it in the bigger picture, we are all raving about trying to get little Svech in next year's draft, yet we have just drafted the leading goalscorer in his league in Adams, who at 6'5" and a RH shot to is a very intriguing prospect. Maybe we could have a very potent huge scoring line within a couple of years, Mantha 6'5" Rass 6'6" Adams 6'5" we've been crying out for size for years, slowly we could be starting to see it happen, just need a couple McCarty type guys for that 4th line.

To be clear, I don't, nor have I ever wanted to trade Mrazek. I still think (hope) he can reach his full potential. I'm hoping for a huge turnaround season for him this year.

I'm sure population comes into play to an extent, but isn't the pull/influence for U.S. kids to play other sports (vs. hockey being #1 in Canada) the main factor?

    2017 Opening Day Roster

That's a fair point too I suppose. I do feel like the hockey talent is a little more spread out (obviously in addition to a little thinner) in the US vs Canada though was my main point. Still crazy the amount of talent that comes out of one section of the country for sure though. Edit: can anyone tell it's the off season??

I do remember him running out of options so it was "s*** or get off the pot" for him essentially, which he did finally.

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

What do we need cap space for this season? Other than re-signing Tatar, which you're advocating trading anyway, we don't need any more cap space this season. People keep referencing the Larkin and Mantha extensions coming up next season. Neither will be an issue. If there's one thing Holland has proven he is very good at, it's re-signing his RFA's. A lot can happen in one year, and there are plenty of other ways to make room under the cap, other than trading one of your better wingers away for draft picks... You don't trade your leading goal scorer in the prime of his career for draft picks. It makes no sense. If we're trading him, and I think we should be shopping him, he needs to be a "hockey trade", bringing in a proven commodity. We can worry about the Larkin and Mantha contracts when the time comes to re-sign them. We could potentially lose Green and his $6M after this season. If Sheahan doesn't have a bounce back season, or he does and we trade him, we could have his $2.075M off the books. Depending on how our goaltending shakes out, we could potentially trade one of Howard ($5,291,667) or Mrazek ($4M). We could also trade a Helm or Ericsson to shed cap space if it came down to it. Also, Weiss' buyout penalty goes down by $900K after this season. Basically we could have an extra $12M+ in cap space freed up after this season, without even taking into account the cap rising. So again, why do we need the cap space this season?

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Agreed. Mrazek has one more season left, may as well see what he does with it before even considering trading him. Team isn't a contender. Nothing to lose, plenty to gain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, I know your one of the few of us here that still has hope for him. I was referring to Leftwinger's comment about trading him. Makes no sense at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd be ok with this, but its absolutely imperative that someone goes on LTIR along with Franzen or someone gets dealt.

A first line winger with Mantha's attributes aren't all that common either.

Blashill and Holland seem to be valuing hard work and character over skill. That's when it's an issue. Between grinders being overpaid on deals that are 2+ years too long, to Sheahan on the PP when he hadn't scored a goal, and all the other BS we saw, it's gotten ridiculous Sent by my minions via telepathy

Well, I have seen other articles to this effect. One that I'm sure you can find if you search had links to Mrazek's instagram and this video that apparently he posted the day after being exposed (and the article guessed it was to send a message):

    Off-season moves

My interpretation is that he would be subject to the normal waiver procedure. If he is sent to the AHL by Vegas, claimed by Colorado on waivers, and subsequently sent down again by Colorado he would go back to Vegas at the AHL level as Frk did for us.

    2017 Opening Day Roster

We will have approximately $6.2M in cap space after Franzen is placed on LTIR, with 10 forwards (Zetterberg, Nyquist, Nielsen, Mantha, Larkin, Abdelkader, Helm, Sheahan, Glendening, Witkowski), 8 defensemen (Kronwall, Ericsson, Daley Green, DeKeyser, Jensen, Ouellet, Sproul) and 2 goaltenders (Howard, Mrazek) on the active roster. That's a total of 20 of the typical 23-man roster. RFA's Tatar and Athanasiou need to be re-signed, which will likely cost between $7-7.5M. That combine with the addition of one more forward from Grand Rapids would put us approximately $2M over the salary cap. Either a trade is going to need to be made, or someone else (Kronwall / Ericsson) is going to have to end up on LTIR. Without any other moves made, I'd like to see something like this... Nyquist - Zetterberg - Mantha Tatar - Larkin - Athanaisou Helm - Nielsen - Frk Abdelkader - Sheahan - Glendening Witkowski Daley - Green DeKeyser - Jensen Ouellet - Sproul Ericsson / Russo Mrazek Howard LTIR Franzen Kronwall
