Good catch. Nonetheless, we'd be much younger if we swapped out two or three of the players I mentioned previously. -

Hey @LeftWinger, remember that time you made a joke referencing players returning to 2008 form?... I wasn't a fan of the Rasmussen pick either, but to call it a bust or screw up this early is a bit premature, don't ya think? Regardless, we should have taken Vilardi, not Tippett. I think Vilardi would have been the safest pick, as well as the highest ceiling. Both Rasmussen and Tippett could boom or bust. I'll agree that Tippett may have the higher chance of booming, but the potential he busts is still there. -

Hello all, this is my first post so please bare with me here as I lay it all on the line. I've grown up in Seattle my whole life, have no ties to Detroit whatsoever. While growing up my dad and I would watch hockey night in Canada as often as we could, we would watch any game we could find at times. I grew up a Soccer player and have played up until about 3 years ago when I had the final straw that broke the Camels back as they say, when I broke my foot. In college I really started watching hockey with the accessibility of internet streams. I had always been affiliated with the Canucks as they were the closest team to me geographically. Let me tell you that was hard. so while in college i really thought to myself, it's time too pick MY team, a team who I really felt passionate for, a team who's playing a coaching style I really could respect and gravitated towards. I spent the 2021-13 season watching just about every team but the team I really gravitated towards was the Wings. I respected their persona as team they gave off and I really enjoyed Babs' coaching style (side note he ironically got his start as a coach for the Spokane Chiefs). So since about 2013 I really thought of myself as a Wings fan. I got a lot of funny looks from friends when i decided to "pledge my allegiance" to the Winged Wheel. But i didn't stop there, after watching them for 2 years solid and really getting invested in the team I decided it was time to really immerse myself in the culture and make my pilgrimage to "Mecca". I convinced my girlfriend to join me in taking a trip out to Detroit, not only to see a game but to see Detroit itself and see what they city was all about. I fell in love, the city welcomed us with open arms and every single person we met assured us that Detroit was not the city the media and other people are making out to be. I can say first hand that I saw that in this city that truly is turning a corner and is nothing like what other people portray it to be! Everyone was kind and made sure to tell us where we have to go and things we have to do while we were in town. People we so surprised and excited that we would come all the way from Seattle to take a vacation to Detroit, my own friends here thought we were crazy! We enjoyed out time and of course the game, they were playing the Stars and lost 4-0 not exactly how I had hoped my first visit to Hockeytown would go. Regardless I had a once in a lifetime experience going to the Joe before it was closed down, we also both found it funny that there were no cup holders which made the drinks go down a lot quicker While staying in an old historic home near Belle Island I had the chance encounter with the finish contractor of the home we were staying in. While shooting the breeze about historic home (i used to work in the seismic-retrofitting industry) he gave me a replica championship ring form the 1997 season which he said the Ilitch family gave out as a promo Little Caesars pizza combo. I still have that ring however it only fits my pinky-finger so its a great key-ring accessory. A few years later we made another Wings trip, this time to visit an old roommate who moved to Nashville, we went this last February and saw them squeak one past Pekka for a 1-0 win. I hope to make another trip out in the coming years to see the new arena and soo how much the city has progressed. So that's my story and i'm excited to learn more and get into the game more and if there any other Pacific Northwest Wings fans out there know you are not alone! -

We're a rebuilding team that should be transitioning to younger players that could be around for the future that we're building. You may not think XO or Sproul have a bright future, but 33-35 year olds will likely be retired when this team is competing in a few years. Being bad with young players can be the product of growing pains while being bad with veteran players can be pains with the opposite trajectory. -

My point wasn't that I think any will be elite or even high end, it's that none of them are bad, and all of them have upside. I think there's a huge difference between riding the same old guys and giving the younger guys a shot. I'd rather go with Ouellet, Sproul and Mrazek over Kronwall, Ericsson and Howard, at a fraction of the price. -

And when we fail, again, he'll simply attribute it to having an off year but next season, with our addition of two more 35+ year old vets, we'll "bounce back". -

Holland apparently believes that adding a second pair caliber D to the team will put them over the top. -
1 pointOuellet, Sproul and Mrazek? You think they're all bad players with no upside? I disagree.
-
1 pointCap space and the ability to add to your roster if the right UFA comes along, and the ability to sign RFA's that are due for pay raises.
-
1 pointSo to be clear, you are saying that 50 points a year is 3rd line production? Please show me a team that has 9 players putting up points close to that. Nyquist is severely underrated around here because he is no longer the flavor of the month. Just wait until the same group do the same to AA if he's still here in a few years.

We're the product of a GM reluctant to admit that that he needs to do a rebuild or let vets walk away, and who overvalues hard work at the expense of talent. -
1 pointI don't get how Nyquist is overrated around here. He was our 2nd best point producer for f***s sake. Not only that, he's been top 5 point producer in 4 seasons in a row. No one on this team besides Zetterberg has been able to do that. Some people are oblivious to facts because they chose to ignore them and go with the herd mentality narrative.

True, but Vitale and Miller aren't even on the team anymore in any capacity so they definitely shouldn't be included. I'm not going to recalculated it including Franzen, though, since it took more time than it was worth to do it once, haha. We were 11th oldest last year: http://www.quanthockey.com/TS/TS_AverageAge.php I'd imagine we're about the same since we got rid of Miller, and got Daley(I know they're not the same position) who is Miller's age (33) and Wit(27) for Ott (35), And ? in for Vanek. -

That number's not correct, though. I just added the ages of the 22 players we expect and it's an average age of 26.86. If you click on the red wing's link it lists Miller and Vitale. Maybe including those guys and Franzen is how they got that number? -

If Zetterberg says his back hurts too much and a couple doctors back him up, I don't know how the league can argue it. Medical experts vs. "we don't believe it?" -
