If a player clears waivers, they can be sent up and down freely within 30 days or 10 games played. They probably just want that little bit of extra roster flexibility?

I'm way more excited about this than most people, but I'm really glad he'll get to play a year for the Wings. He really worked hard for this spot and showed during camp and preseason that he really wants to be with Detroit. Congrats David!

Yup not interested in Pouliot in the least, Would rather have Hicketts then Pouliot picks are far better either a 3rd or 4th should do it. I think that's exactly it Holland is just looking for a little flexibility here with the roster.

You underestimate me. Probably because the way I post now is different than I did years ago. I agree about the mental toughness and raw skill. He is very skilled. But it takes more for the NHL.

Not sure why I'm taking the bait again, but the only thing I will say is that confidence is extremely important in any sport, and it's a tough thing to build back up once it's taken a hit. Jurco is a bust. Would he have been a bust if drafted by a different team or handled differently? Of course you will say yes, but we'll never know for sure. The raw skill was definitely there, just didn't have the mental toughness to be a successful NHLer.

I agree that we shouldn't worry about his +/- too much. We saw in preseason that he is very smart with the puck and with positioning in his own end. His skating allows him to break up and create a lot of plays. I want to see if he can push the pace offensively and rack up some points. Get that offensive game going before he makes it to the show.

If we can't get a 2018 1st round pick for Mike Green at $3 million, Hopefully we get a 2018 2nd round pick+2019 2nd round pick at the very least for him.

I think he gets claimed, some posters on here (not you) dont give him enough credit. He's obviously not an elite goalie, or even a starter, but he very well could be a decent backup on the right team. But hey, according to some "he's nowhere near NHL caliber".

I see where you are coming from in regards to Abby & Helm, but I disagree with the DD contract. He's a bit overpaid, sure. But for a team that has struggled mightily in the D department, you need to lock up your only legit top 4 young D-man. The issue with DD is that last year he played first pairing and fans expected top pairing production from him, same issue fans have with Nyquist/Tatar. Put DD back on 2nd pairing where he belongs with a solid partner and nobody will have an issue with him. 5mil for a top 4 guy his his age is not that bad. If you could snap your finger and just 3 of E, Howard, Abby, Helm, and Nielsen were gone, nobody would even care about DD's contract.
