I'd let him sit the whole season for four reasons: 1. f*** him 2. Their contending window IMO won't close for at least five years 3. Set an example with this and use it for leverage in the M&M negotiations next year edit: 4. show other GMs that they can't pick your carcass by low balling you with trade offers

I liked the Bertuzzi pick right off the hop, but will admit to being a little pissed about the Cholowski pick. Mainly because I legitimately never even heard of the dude before, and I was up on most of the top prospects. Being pissed lasted all of a few minutes though. Then he was my new favorite prospect. Much like Rasmussen last year, and even Berggren this year. There were players I would have preferred in those spots, but as soon as they're drafted by the Red Wings, I love them. I hope Rasmussen and Berggren turn out to be beasts like Bert and Cholo. Also, F*** Chychrun. I hope he turns out to be an injury prone bust. Not really. Kind of. Maybe...

https://wingsnation.com/2018/11/13/why-the-red-wings-should-trade-for-daniel-sprong/ I'm not sure if Sprong is actually available but this is the sort of "outside the box" (at least to Red Wings standards) moves I'd like to see. Young player with high upside, that may just need a change of scenery. He put up very strong numbers in the QMJHL and AHL, is only 21 years old and a right-handed winger. Checks all the boxes. "A prolific scoring winger who possesses an elite-level skillset: has dynamic skating ability, is a creative passer, and has incredible puckhandling ability. While he is offensively dominant, he is also defensively responsible. A very hard working player who strives to improve all aspects of his game. Absolutely electric." (Curtis Joe, EP 2014) Sounds like a low risk, high reward move, if we could somehow acquire him. The article suggests that we may be able to get him for one of our pending free agents, Nyquist, Vanek or Jensen (or Daley). I think Jensen would be a decent starting point. Maybe add a player like Ehn or Holmstrom would get it done? No idea, but I do really like the idea of this sort of trade... Thoughts?

I think it's awesome/hilarious that Bertuzzi and Cholowski - probably two of our most regretted draft prospects - are now two of our best players DIE HATERS

If Nylander really wants 8M you just can't cave to that demand. Marleau or no Marleau. Cap space or not. But if you're talking signings, the real mistake was not locking the three of them up long term last year. Pre-Tavares.

This Nylander fiasco really makes the Marleau signing look stupid

Lmao trade them Bernier back. Rybar can play the remaining 25 games we needed him to play.

Watch those slow-footed brutes in LA stomp those pretty boys from Toronto...At least I'm hoping they do. Anywho - Wings continue the streak - win in OT!

Genius. This is the move. Spronger is rill gud. The Pens are mad he's not producing, but they're only giving him 4th line minutes and essentially expecting him to produce with a 300 year old Matt Cullen as his centermen. Ken. I know you read this. GIT ER DONE

I wonder how much Sprong and Puljujarvi would cost us, combined. If it's not a whole lot...

Yeah I just mean it would be nice to have that cap space now. 8M is yes very high. This really is his first big test. Yzerman godfathered that s*** like a ******* gangster. My guess is Dubas will trade him for questionable return. But we will see I guess.

Apparently when asked about Shanny's 'message' - Matthews responded sumthin along the lines of 'I'll let my agent handle this' (meaning he could give 2 f**ks since he wants what's coming to him). I've been saying this since the day the Leafs signed him...Made zero sense what so ever...There's still 1 season remaining...Could've used that $6.25 cap hit in a much more meaningful fashion. I'll give Dubas a bit of a break since signing Tavares was a bit of a long shot, but it'll be interesting to see if Dubas has Yzerman strength balls in letting Willie boy sit for the season, and not cave in to his demands. Makes Larkin's contract look like a bargain.

Nylander clearly missed Shanahan's public plea for his stars to take less than market value in order to retain their core. Just wait until Mathews and Marner (both twice the players lil willy is) rake the entire GTA's ballz over the coals when their time comes.

I'd send either one if they would waive their NTC (if they have one), and whomever could fetch us the most in return (in terms of draft picks). Wow - greedy lil'bastard ain't he? If the Leafs have trouble signing anyone else - well it's gonna be another 50 years before they win the Cup
