Well, that's how bad this team is. lol Players and Blash thought he did well, but any goalie stuck behind that D is gonna get lit up. Could have been worse. He may not improve the net sitch much, but I'd rather see him play instead of Bernier. We know what we have with Bernier. Who knows, The more Comrie plays, the better he may get. It is very hard to judge any goalie on this team with the mess were in, but it is what it is. Just start the kid, get Bernier some croissants and tell him to sit back and relax. Yeah i had read about that. The first goal that went in never should have either. An opposing player shouldn't get three whacks at a puck in the crease ffs. -

During the 2nd Period of Tues game (can't remember the exact time during the period), we were getting swarmed by the Jets. Just an onslaught of offense and our D was scrambling. Right before the whistle blew there were 3 Wings standing directly outside of the crease in front of Comrie in essentially the form of a triangle...the other 2 Wings were chasing the puck around looking quite honestly a bit silly. Once the whistle blew, you could see Comrie laying into the 3 guys in front of the net, you could tell he was saying something to the effect of stop standing around and screening me....go play D!! Ugghh...it was hard to watch. -

In general, and as it applies to us, I'm thinking a lot about what it will take to rebuild the culture of this team. I think what everyone wanted was for Zberg/Dats/Lids/Kronner to raise the next generation of Red Wings. But the bottom fell out and and the pipeline dried before that could happen. Now, we have some great players in Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi, Hronek, and now Fabbri. But these guys are all still kids and even prospects still in a way. And they have no guidance, no Red Wing dads to lead them and raise them. Nielsen/Abby/Fil/Helm are older but are really just step-dads who can't help them the way they need to be helped. I was discussing bringing in Corey Perry in the offseason last night in the discord. He's an older vet, once great player who's sorta been there and seen most of it, and he plays with an edge. Sort of reminds me of papa bear Todd Bertuzzi. But the more I think about it the more I start to sour on this idea, even if it would be a cheap easy no-loss pick up for us... I'm listening to some Spittin Chiclets podcasts where they talk about the St Louis Blues. They specifically talk about how they love the Blues lockerroom. The guys on that team all still go out for drinks together as a team. And not just 2 or 3, or 5 or 6, core guys. THE WHOLE TEAM. And they have good camaraderie and get competitive with who can bring home the most girls and what not. To dance into boomer land here, they also talk about how there exists a real problem with the newer generation of players. Some of these guys just want to go home and play fortnight. Or stay in their hotel rooms and play video games. It's not video games that are the problem per say, it's that they're not with their mates building that culture and repertoire. Where I'm going with this is... I don't think we need Corey Perry's. I think we need exactly what Yzerman has already been aiming for. Guys aged 23-28. guys of the generation of our current core. Build up a critical mass of these players. Guys who are going to be friends with Larkin and Mantha, guys who are going to add something to the cultural rebuild. With that in mind, here's some pending UFAs in that age group that aren't Subban cancer: Melker Karlsson (25) Zemgus Girgensons (26) Cody Ceci (26) Nathan Beaulieu (27) Josh Leivo (27) Idk, I don't know a lot about some of these players, maybe someone else can make a better list from this: https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/free-agents/ufa/ -

I'm nodding in agreement and yet I don't feel it in my gut. Maybe I'm in denial. Hopefully Zadina and Seider can be impact NHLers next season. I adore Seider. Rasmussen's been out with an injury, so for now I'm (unfairly) treating him as someone who isn't going to help us soon. Veleno clearly isn't close, which is a big bummer. Hopefully our 2020 1st is NHL-ready... -

Yzerman probably said something like "Fil, don't tell anyone I said this, but this team Holland bequeathed to me is an open puss-wound. Something a rabies infested raccoon covered in deer ticks wouldn't even sniff. I don't want you around it right now" -

Neither were in the lineup for the Griffs last night, so very likely they remained with the Wings. -

I think I need an advanced course on minor league transactions. Like, the Griffs are in California right now. These two either went for a drive to GRs to check on their goldfish or it was only a paper transaction and they remained in Detroit. -

Off topic conspiracy theory I dived into last night: Based on the video it's pretty clear to me that Subban's own teammates in Montreal didn't care for him. Not just Bergevin and Therrien. And that the room was toxic with him in it. But the thing I wanna talk about is that $10 million donation to Montreal children's hospital. It's a crazy donation and one of the biggest (if not the biggest?) by an athlete. It's even super crazier that it came from a hockey player since hockey bros make way less money than other athletes. Of course Subban, being the avid self-promoter that he is, used this as an opportunity for media optics to gain fan support and public sympathy. And deservedly so, it's a generous donation. The problem? He never wrote that check. In fact, he only actually PLEDGED to help RAISE those funds, but very much hushed hushed that. According to the PK Subban Foundation and Global News only about 20% of the promised funds were ever actually donated. And it is unclear how much of his own money he even put into the pot because he was using "sponsors" for donation funds. In actuality and away from the cameras, Subban's accountant was using the entire affair as a loophole to dodge Quebec taxes so Subban could make even MORE money. The Habs had a real problem with this behind closed doors. And certainly did not want to be dragged through the mud themselves if his little self-promoting tax escapade ever came to light in the mainstream media. Basically it was a PR time bomb waiting to go off, and this played a heavy role in the final decision to unload him. It's also just a pure dooshy scheme to pull in general. This is why his Habs teammates voted for Patches for the King Clancy award - despite Patches not really do anything to earn it, at least not anything $10 million big - instead of Subban that year. Since he's out of Montreal now, the whole thing has remained under the rug... I've also been reading comments from fans who are starting pipe up that he's a regular doosh as soon as the cameras turn off. From my understanding he's been jetting back and forth between LA and NJ non stop to spend time with his new fiance that ski chick with the nudes. Basically he's not really committed to the game at all, at least not for NJD. On one podcast it was pretty clear he spent most of the summer partying in LA and promoting his new brand crap, instead of preparing for the season. In conclusion SHEA WEBER is a GOD TIER Dman and everyone was wrong about that trade. This has been my Ted Tallk -

Pronman is like the Nate Silver of the NHL, take that s*** with a dose of salt Yzerman basically has my confidence because of Seider. I geeked out on Seider knowing we would still never be in a position to draft him, and the mad man took him anyway. I'm not so much bonering over Yzerman taking the player I liked, and more so bonering over Yzerman having the cojones to do what my normie ass would never have the balls to do. I'm willing to accept and look the other way on Yzer-mistakes because of this, including Perlini and not signing Witkowski. I was fully prepared to be the dick that s***s on Yzerman all season, but he won me over with a single pick. -
1 pointIt's kinda weird to say a goalie who allowed give goals was a bright spot, but I suppose he kinda was. Overall tho, I'd say he was more or less what I've come to expect from Bernier. Not sure he's going to improve the situation in net.

Amazing that we finally drafted a kid who isn't a complete *****. Didn't realize Seider is on track to set records. This kid is ready. He's been ready. Yzerman is protecting his first OG Detroit Yzer-pick from this horrid nightmare of a team and letting Holland's picks burn. Smart move for his reputation as a manager. Need to dig up comments from all those who doubted Yzerman on draft day. Seider has Norris's written all over him. Reminds of me of Pronger minus the dooshyness. Big, mobile, physical, smart, big personality. Real captain material. He will take Timmy Stoots 4th overall this year, and then we will get the Stoots/Sides show in a few years. Hard working german bros who will fix the physically and mentally soft culture of this team. -

HAha ******* good. I've been hesitant to rip on Cholowski cause he's a 1st round D pick that I really want to be good. But that first goal on Comrie last night broke me. f*** that kid, if that's how you're gonna play hockey standing their watching your goalie get wacked in the arms by opponents then you should go to the ECHL until you hit puberty and develop a pair of balls. McIlrath going down is no surprise, but why is he not fighting when he's up? I know Babs didn't like his Dmen to fight cause it would shorten his bench, but c'mon Blash, do you really share in that belief right now?. We are not the same powerplay is our enforcer team anymore. We should be fighting at every opportunity. I would literally be personally massaging big dylans knuckles b4 each match if I was Blash. And buying him milkshakes after games where he fights. The lack of emotion from Blashill is starting to get to me. Standing there with a straight face like you aren't about to match the record for longest losing streak in NHL history. Like you aren't about to have the worst NHL season by any team in 300 years. Is he that comfortable in his job? Is he comfortably numb? Say what you want about bad man Babcock but Babs veins would be bursting out of his neck right now and he'd be implementing Homer Simpson parenting techniques. FREEP Story Today What are those solutions Jeff? The same lines again and again and again? The same loss of confidence and composure after an enemy goal is scored again and again and again? What did you learn from this game that you didn't learn in the previous 13 games? Just don't worry about it I guess, right Jeff? RED WINGS INTERN WHO READS THESE BOARDS FOR FAN REACTIONS, the team is treading into jersey burning waters. You won't need to worry about PETA and octopi soon, cause I'm gonna poop into my own hand and fling it at jeff blashill like a chimpanzee if this team doesn't normalize quickly -

I'd feel like we're five years from anything if our prospect pool was shallow, but luckily that isn't the case. Toronto and Colorado are two teams that turned it around extremely fast, and despite how grim it is now, I feel like our rebuilds are more in line with those than say Edmonton. or Buffalo. To be guaranteed a top 4 instead of say, a top 10. To have the best odds at a lottery pick in a year with a generational talent on the line.
