Jesperi Kotkaniemi: 115 NHL games played. 42 points. 0.36 PPG average. Barrett Hayton: Only 20 NHL games played so far. 4 points. 0.20 PPG average. Filip Zadina: 34 NHL games played. 18 points. 0.53 PPG average. I can pick any random 2nd grader off the school bus and ask them which of these players is the best so far and they would all pick #3. You're either joking or know nothing about hockey.

Q Hughes passing him by at this stage is of course correct but in no way should Hayton rank higher than Zadina. Doesnt matter he had a great WJC with Lafraniere on his wing. Zadina should stay at 6 where we took him. Or even pass Kotkaniemi to 5.

Hudler is a different player than Nyquist/Tatar. I don't see Zadina as any of those 3. I think he becomes more of a Hossa lite.

More absurd than ceiling = Tatar? You do know what a "ceiling" is don't you? How many player actually hit their projected ceiling? I've even said that Kucherov level is unlikely, but certainly not impossible. Especially when you consider that Zadina is ahead of where Kucherov was at the same age (NHL totals), has a much higher draft pedigree, similar build, similar skill set. The question is, will Zadina put it all together the way Kucherov has? Again, unlikely, but not out of the question... He will not be a total bust (out of the NHL in a couple years), as mackel seems to think, and he will most definitely be a better player than Tatar. Under the right circumstances, Zadina can develop into a point per game winger. Do you not think there's a significant difference between Hudler and Hossa? I can't wait for you to eat crow on this one bud. Give it another year or two, and it will be evidently clear that Zadina >>> Hudler / Tatar / Nyquist. Not that it isn't already.

CRL: " Zadina is a bust"... CRL: "Well, not really a bust per se, but in the mold of a Hudler, Nyquist, Tatar"... CRL: "Zadina's potential to be a very complete Hossa type winger is definitely there"... Nope, not backpedaling at all... Except for the fact that you're wrong... Struggling to make the NHL? Says who? He's 20 years old, and will absolutely, 100% be on the opening night roster, and play a full season in the NHL next season... So there's zero chance he comes close to Kucherov, despite being ahead of him in his development at the same age? Yeah, okay. Again, not likely, but not impossible either. First of all, I never said any of those things. Not even close. Secondly, what I'm saying here is not all that far fetched. Basically, he will be better than a 2nd line winger, likely a top line winger, with the potential to be a top winger in the league. Again, very plausible.

No. He prefers to be right, even when facts and figures say otherwise.

For a guy that is struggling to make the nhl, the ceiling is NOT the Art Ross Trophy Winner position. It IS top 6 winger scoring 50-70 pts, aka Tatar. Your smug know it all attitude is rearing its ugly head again. And like your trade proposals, your arguments are looking ridiculous. Winnepeg probably wont do Laine for Mantha, Pittsburgh probably wont give us Letang for Cholowski, and Rasmussen's ceiling = Eric Lindros. Why even say anything if everything that you are gonna say is of the "no sh$t, Sherlock" variety?

There is a significant difference between Hudler and Hossa. What's your point? That you don't understand my line of argument and simple comparisons? There's also a significant difference between someone without the IQ to understand my argument and some who does. Guess which camp you fall in.

Dropped from 6th to 7th... What a bust... These re-drafts are meaningless 5 years after a draft, let alone 2...

absolutely and because they know everything we also see a bit of sliding here...https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/redoing-the-2019-nhl-draft-how-would-it-unfold-today another bust at 6, too bad the scouting staff in Detroit is a bunch of losers. honestly, if that is any proof for you that Zadina is a bust you cannot be helped anyway....

That's all well and good. And if dudes like Sterling wanna take part in that then more power to them, but they shouldn't sign business agreements saying they WON'T do that kind of s*** then. If you and I both owned franchises in an Italian restaurant, and you signed an agreement saying you won't do anything that makes the franchise look bad, and then the literal prostitute you were cheating on your wife with recorded you talking mad s*** about Italian people, you wouldn't be some kind of victim if I used the agreement we signed to take your business.

I understand those teams POV. But I have no real morals or ethics beyond "Make Red Wings good NOW". Give me my unfair Lafreniere. I will only stroke harder if someone whines about us each time he scores.

Easy for Wings fans to say, I suppose. If I'm a fan of the Sabres or Devils or Habs, I want my team in that 1st overall mix. As a Wings fan, I'm fine with telling those teams to get f***ed. We had the worst season in recent memory; give us our damn handout. But I think those teams are absolutely right to want no part of the five-team plan.

Zadina floor - Tatar Zadina ceiling - Kucherov I think he'll end up somewhere in between. I actually really like the Hossa comparison...

Henrik borgstrom is possibly going to the khl by the sounds of it, if i had to guess hes probably fed up with the panthers . He was once highly touted and turning 23 in august, if he price isnt expensive might be worth a look https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/118332/henrik-borgstrom

Would love to discuss either with you. Nyquist to me is too passive. He came in relatively unknown and hot on good teams and then digressed as the team digressed. He has that passenger quality where he's only as good as the line you put him on. This is unlike a Zetterberg - whom you can stick on a line with Sheahan and Abdelkader - and he'll still generate. Though when I think of "The Red Wings mold" for a player Nyquist seems to fit it perfectly to me. Smart, responsible, poised, patient, He just wasn't godly skilled enough to be a Z or Datsyuk. Z seemed to be so technically proficient and have so much determination that he could just will the puck into the back of the net. Datsyuk was so skilled that he was just ******* with people and having fun half the time. I mean going behind the net and trying to lacrosse a puck up and over the net in the playoffs for giggles is ballsy even for the best players (forget what series that was, he didn't score on the play). Nyquist seemed to be too passive for any of that. Too Zadina. I see this same passive passenger like quality in Zadina. Maybe less so than Nyquist, but there nonetheless. Zadina is really good at utilizing his stick in all situations. I praise him for that constantly. His potential to be a very complete Hossa type winger is definitely there if he wants to be that. My worry with him is he's not the line driver Zberg or Datsyuk was. Tatar looked to be the line driver for MTL this year, but he still only managed 61 pts in 66 games. That's a problem for MTL IMO. Your main line driver shouldn't be a 29 year old winger putting up decent points. Zberg at the same age was putting up 92 points in 75 games. So I definitely think Zadina will be a valuable player, like both Tatar and Nyquist were and are. I just don't think we should bank on him being a driver for this team. I think of him more as a Franzen or Holmstrom (not in style of play) the type of player who can help you loads but you still need true superstars around him. If we don't get those superstars soon I think Zadina will be doomed to have career fizzle like Nyquists did.

Thats what Im thinking. Though I was stoked when I first read it, obviously every other team not in equation was going to scream bloody murder at it. The lottery just hasnt gone our way at all in recent years so I certainly wasnt going to complain. Hopefully they announce a solution soon
