I read an interview with Moritz Seider, where he said that he will come over to Detroit on the 12th of August and that he plans to stay. There are no articles saying that in NA so far, but he said so at home. He would only go back if the Redwings want him to. -

Agreed. No point in rushing the rebuild when you're halfway there. That's how you end up like Edmonton. just stay the course, you'll see the sun again soon.. -

Didn't Zetterberg move from LW to C? Or am I getting that backwards? -
2 pointsHe is coming over to prepare for TC. I don´t know where he is going to live and train before TC. "Ich will mich nicht irgendwann fragen lassen müssen, warum ich es jetzt nicht unbedingt versucht habe", sagte Seider am Montag in Mannheim. "I don´t want to be asked some day, why haven´t I tried hard right away" Seider said on Monday He is basically just saying that he wants to stay in NA (Wings or GR) instead of going back to Germany for another year after TC

Are you this big a tool in real life? Or is it all just an online persona, to escape how miserable you really are? -

As long as she's a fan of the Wings she'll understand...Might even give you a discount. -

Like I said, I'd chalk this up to difference in philosophy. Personally I'm fine with 28/29/30 year olds remaining on the team so long as they are working out and providing value on a decent contract. Selling them off feels like winding the rebuild clock back again. I'm not ready to do that yet, and would like to see a good push with the current core if we can. I'm ok with trading these players as I believe they are all 2nd tier players. However, I'd be looking for lateral moves (like adding an already capable Dman) not necessarily picks or prospects that we will have to wait on while Larkin continues to age. I'm not sure what you're trying to get at with all this. As I've said I'm perfectly alright with being competitive in the next two years. I just don't think it will be an issue Yzerman will force within the next 2 years based on the actions he's taken so far. Maybe the kids explode and force us into competition despite Yzerman's perceived "plan", and that forces the plan to change? I'd be ok with that. I'd rather build internally on what we already have (AA/Bertuzzi/Mantha) than sell them off and go seeking FA's to replace them. And based on Yzerman's track record building the bolts, I think he would agree. -
1 pointNow you're backpedaling. You said before "I wouldn't be surprised if he switched to center". Now you don't think he will? Pick a side man. Or is the whole point that you say contradictory things so that you're never wrong about anything? I also love that you're now falling back on "well, it's 'possible' he could...durr". It's also possible he quits playing hockey and dedicates his life to musical theater. I'm saying that it's so unlikely (because, among other things, it's an idiotic idea) as to be not worth discussing. BTW it's also "possible" that he could play defense. As you've pointed out, more guys have switched from wing to defense than have ever gone from wing to center. Yet you, and Jonas, don't seem so fascinated by that idea. Wonder why? Maybe because you're having trouble reconciling the fact that you want the Wings to draft the consensus "best player" but also realize he doesn't actually fill a need on the team? Here's a bet I'll make with you, or Jonas, or anyone else. Take ANY natural winger from the 2019 or 2020 draft class. Don't care who. And for every season they switch and play center, I'll donate $20 bucks to a charity of your choice. For the duration of their careers. And for every season they don't, in perpetuity, you have to post (at the end of their season) on LGW, "I'm a harebrained dumbf*ck who lets my argumentative nature get me into stupid, and avoidable, debates with Kipwinger for no reason". Deal?

That doesnt sound like a joke to me. Dont play with my emotions. -
1 pointSwitch Bert for AA if you like. I just kept the first line together just because of their strong finish last season. When I think about it, you should really spread your talent over three lines anyway. Seems to be the way the league is going with LV and TB leading the way.

Grade The Offseason 2019: Yzerman's Opening Moves
derblaueClaus reacted to ChristopherReevesLegs for a post in a topic
I think it's telling that Filppula and Nemeth are both signed for two years. I think that's the exact amount of time Yzerman wants this rebuild to last until we start to accelerate. At that time our core will look like: Mantha, Athanasiou, and Bertuzzi: 26 Hirose: 25 Larkin and Svechnikov: 24 Hronek and Cholowski: 23 Rasmussen and Larsson: 22 Veleno, McIsaac, Berggren, and Zadina: 21 Seider: 20 That's 15 players who could be on the roster at that point at 26 or younger. More than a few still may be on ELC's too. In the meantime Filppula can fill the hole that Nielsen was never able to. And in terms of Defense we could be without Ericsson, Daley, and Green next year. Nemeth I see as a decent flex option there.
