Sorry, I’m not into having Dats on the team.

One nostalgia trip per offseason, thank you.

The legendary hockey player Pavel Datsyuk, who represents SKA from St. Petersburg, will play in the 2019-2020 season in Yekaterinburg's Avtomobiliste. This was EAN said a high-ranking source in the Ural team.

According to him, negotiations with Datsyuk on this subject can be considered complete and successful.

Recall Pavel Datsyuk 40 years. He is a native of Sverdlovsk, here he began his sports career.

Olympic champion in 2018, world champion in 2012, two-time winner of the Stanley Cup 2002, 2008, winner of the Gagarin Cup 2017, champion of Russia in 2005, bronze medalist of the 2002 Olympic Games. Honored Master of Sports of Russia, included in the list of the 100 greatest hockey players in the history of the NHL.

Pavel is the only hockey player in the world to win the Olympic Games, World Cup, Stanley Cup and Gagarin Cup."

So yeah - according to this - he's gonna play in the middle of nowhere...So - do we now call out the 'Bobfather' for the poor reporting?

By "Bobfather", do you mean Bob McKenzie?  If so, this is what he reported:

May 1 - "It seems there is a whole new round of, could Pavel Datsyuk return to the NHL next season, in Detroit?  Short answer is it's probably quite unlikely but since Datsyuk will actually be in Detroit tomorrow, worth mentioning"

May 1 - "Datsyuk is visiting his agent Dan Milstein in DET.  They will talk about Datsyuk's plans to finish his career and where that will happen.  Datsyuk recently announced he's leaving SKA in KHL, but the belief is he plans on finishing up with hometown Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg."

May 1 - "There's apparently been no dialogue between Milstein and the Wings on Datsyuk and certainly nothing since Steve Yzerman took over as GM.  In any case, Milstein and Datsyuk will get together and figure out Pav's next step.  It's probably Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg."

Maybe you meant someone else's reporting?  Looks like Bob McKenzie was spot on.

There's only one "Bobfather", so I assume F.Michael got his tweets mixed up with some other schmuck...

Doesnt mean he's not going to again be part of the organization in some other capacity in the future, just not as a player. I would be perfectly ok with that.

If the Wings bring Feds back and Datsyuk, I think this could be a good opportunity to reestablish a strong presence in Russia. All of the teams scout there now, but there is still the hesitation about Russian players because of the KHL and its still not as easy to get Russian players as it is other Europeans. I think it would be smart to have strong representation over there and maybe help to get this team some talent that other teams can't.

Yes  - 'Bobfather' is one Bob McKenzie that I'm referring to, and yes - it looks like I read some other tweet that suggested Dats was likely to sign with Detroit...My apologies to the 'Bobfather' - I will not go against the family ever again.

CRL texts me every 15 minutes with everything going on be it sports, politics, fashion, etc...Without him telling me what's going on - I'd be lost, and only half the man that I am.

CRL is an educated, and well rounded guy...Luckily he doesn't charge me a dime...Then again he owes me for when I threw myself on that VC grenade back in Da Nang '68...

You were the lucky one. I spent the next 4 years in a POW camp surviving on a crude stew made of dirty water, bamboo, and rice. I nearly went insane trying to find the recipe back in the states. No one ever gets the spices right.

He's exaggerating. He refuses to get an Instagram, so its mostly just me describing to him what I made for lunch.

Do you even know what an M97 Flamethrower sounds like? It so loud it drowns out everything else. If you focus on that noise long enough you can almost convince yourself you don't hear the screams anymore. Then, once the tank is empty, everything's quiet again. Even the men are quiet. It's not the noise that keeps me awake at night. It's the silence. What keeps me going? It's knowing that, after Da Nang and all boys I left behind in that delta, that Brokeback Mountain on DVD and blu-ray is waiting for me back home. God bless America.

Instead of meeting up in the mountains...We meet once a year in the basement of a Vietnamese restaurant to play 'Russian Roulette'.

Getting more challenging these days to find participants willing to hold AK-47s to our head...
